I don’t usually follow trials like this, so I may be mistaken on a fact or two. From what I gather, it seems reasonable that there shouldn’t be as much coverage of this trial. The doctor committed a crime by performing a procedure beyond the scope of his practice. He killed a few fetuses, which is otherwise legal, and an adult died, which appears to have been an accident or complication. I don’t think there are a lot of protesters there standing up for what he did; most of those who support abortion probably agree that he should be prosecuted for breaking the law.

In cases where prolife defendants are on trial, generally there is a phalanx of protesters, and in the general public there is a segment of the population that believes the prolife defendant was right in what he did, and that he is being victimized by unjust laws. The prolife protesters and pundits are often successful in using their public relations skills to draw attention to such cases, whereupon they try to put the unjust laws on trial in the media.

This case is not that sort of battle for the soul of the nation, the doc done wrong, he doesn’t have a huge part of the population in his corner, and so it just isn’t as compelling a case to cover.

According to a co worker of Gosnell, Gosnell joked about the sizes of the babies he killed, and Gosnell is alleged to have said, ‘This baby is big enough to walk around with me or walk me to the bus stop’

Stephen Massof described how he snipped the spinal cords of babies, calling it, “literally a beheading. It is separating the brain from the body.” He testified that at times, when women were given medicine to speed up their deliveries, “it would rain fetuses. Fetuses and blood all over the place.”

IF the media is not interested in this trial then why is the media publishing stories about the cases? Don’t worry when there is a verdict in the case the media will report it.
 
Of course they aren’t, heck I just saw one liberal commentator this week claim that no babies are ever born alive. And that was in relation to a completely different story, they were discussing the Florida Planned Parenthood lobbyist’s comments, not this trial.
 
I don’t even want to bother reading the Kermit Gosnell case, for my own souls sake. I’ve read it, heard about it, and now I am filled with anger and disgust. Lest I sin, I won’t say anything. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

The mainstream media has its own interests. For example, when Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a “sl*t” it was all you heard for weeks. The horror! The horror! But this doctor is on trial for “snipping” the spines of seven children (-children wholly outside their mother’s bodies) to insure their “demise.” Usually killing babies is regarded as A Big Story, but in this case, mainstream news outlets think it of no news value. Meanwhile, tapes containing Sr. Mitch McConnell (R, KY) and his staff discussing ways to campaign against Ashley Judd----and o, by the way, she decided not to run weeks ago, largely because Democrats thought she would make a poor candidate because of past public statements and behavior that strike many as, um, “flaky”----is huge news, and covering it shows how much the major networks and daily papers care about women, women’s issues, and women’s health. A doctor on trial for killing a woman and several babies, well, that’s just not news…(A Planned Parenthood clinic was shut down in Delaware yesterday because of five botched abortions in a few months and conditions so unsanitary that women going there for abortions might contract all manner of diseases from unsterile operating tables. But again, that is not news because it really doesn’t help people who professionally care about women’s health so long as it doesn’t interfere with the abortion industry…)
 
I did a Google News search for Gosnell and got 13,000 results. ABC, USA Today, the Houston Chronicle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and a bunch of other sources had stories. And isn’t the Washington Times itself a news medium?

It’s true that a lot of reporters have personal liberal ideals, but it’s also true that most of them try to be fair and objective. And some soucres, such as the Washington Times and Fox News, are hardly chronicles of liberalism. I’ve written for a newspaper and talked to quite a few people in the business, and what I hear is that they get just as many complaints from liberals as from conservatives about supposedly slanted news.

My experience too is that most will listen to what you have to say if you don’t start off with an attack.
 
This goes to show us that abortion is truly evil. The fact that the “clinics” manipulate equipment to make a quick buck shows us just how evil they are. The “doctors” who do these kinds of procedures aren’t even doctors because doctors don’t kill children. We need to put a stop to this evil. We are killing our own children. The conditions that they do these procedures under are terrible. The instruments sometimes arent sterile, the equipment is manipulated, I could go on all day. I think these clinics should be shut down for good. All of them. Planned Parenthood should be shut down, their members tried and arrested. :mad:

Yes, it seems like the story has been picked up more in the past two days. There is also a murder trial in New Zealand of one Gavin Gosnell (no relation), though that’s small. There’s another article in the International Business Times (no, I never heard of it) from yesterday that’s almost verbatim the one I cited from last week, noting that coverage is still light:

To be fair those counts are of minutes spent on nightly news broadcasts, not of pips or tags on online media. And locally last night we had severe storms such that the entirety of the 10 o’clock news was eclipsed by reporters standing in the rain frowning at torn-off roofs. Yes, storms here are newsworthy but hardly rare, and there was no mention of North Korea, the earthquake in Iran, or the ongoing budget problems in the Senate. Point is, the news are rarely likely to satisfy anyone. And I’m glad for the greater attention this horrific story is getting.

Are the liberal complaints that the news stories are too slanted towards conservatives or towards vested interests? I’ve heard more of the latter, and those I know who are ardent about being liberal or holding progressive beliefs would never watch FoxNews (many don’t like CNN, either, but prefer Indy media).

While I dont think these demons who seem to enjoy doing this to innocent children deserve death, they certainly deserve to be placed in solitary confinement for at least 5 years. They hide behind the “I did what I was told” excuse. How can our government allow this to happen? I honestly am starting to doubt if our “government” can do anything right if they cant see what’s going on here. Or is it that they just dont care? The Church has been shaking her head in disgust ever since Roe v. Wade delivered this plague to our children.

Just 5 years?

Why should it be considered a crime. Just recently in Topeka Kansas a man beat his baby to death and walked away with no prison time at all - even though he plead guilty on all counts.
