Why don’t you read a little more carefully before you start being astounded at what I didn’t say? I did not say that I have concluded they are facts. I referred to them as alleged facts. That’s what drives me nuts around here sometimes. There are cat calls for evidence when we misread what is right there in front of our faces.
Here is your original quote:
PS I think maybe the reason this thread went this way, could be that it is easier and less “icky” to argue about credentials, than to face the facts the OP alleges.
Actually that’s pretty close to what I was thinking, “… here’s a person saying something I haven’t heard before about abortion, and I don’t want to hear abortion is connected to satan or makes satan’s followers happy. Must squelch this voice.”
Let me introduce you to formal logic. If someone makes a positive claim, the burden of proof rests upon them. The reason being it takes no effort to make a claim, there are an infinite number of possibilities but if something is verifiable then we should be able to present evidence for it. I could say that there exists a giant purple flying squid that kidnaps children in Russia and turns them into dolphins, but if I say so then I better be able to provide evidence for my claim, it isn’t on you to prove that such a creature
doesn’t exist, because ultimately its non-existence is unproveable. That is the essence of skepticism. From listening to you, it seems that you have a tendency to simply believe whatever you hear. I hope for your sake that is not true.
Also you have assumed that I do not believe that abortion is connected to Satan. That is not a true statement. What I do not believe is that there are hundreds of thousands of Satanic high priests dedicating these aborted babies to Satan. That is a claim that is sensational in nature, much like a lot of what Zachary King says, and doesn’t have any evidence to support it. To simply accept it would be foolish, I shouldn’t just take his word for it.
I don’t know or care who Alberto Riviera is. The fact that someone else in the world is a liar doesn’t imply the OP is. Actually my problem right now is not sacrificed babies. My problem right now is this nit-picky attitude. You wanted me to be wrong so you read my posts wrong. Evidence and facts are apparently not of important when the conclusion has already been drawn.
You’ve missed my point. I cited Alberto Rivera and his followers as an example of a bad way of thinking, one which many people here have chosen to follow: I am against X, therefore I am willing to believe anything, however sensational, about X.
Also this isn’t a matter of drawing conclusions, I have merely stated why I am skeptical of his testimony and said that there is not sufficient evidence to believe what he says.
As for the “nit-picky” attitude, as a previous poster stated, is not the truth the most important thing? Seriously. To simply believe an outrageous statement without questioning it, not caring whether it is true or not, not only is this morally wrong, but it destroys our credibility and injures our witness.
Who said that? I sure didn’t.
Yes, you most certainly did. Here’s the original quote from post #107:
Next we’ll be floating toy sailboats down the river for peace, and will have forgotten all about sacrificed babies!
Cheers.
