The mental health risks of abortion have often been mentioned by prolife advocates. While I agree that the health risks and benefits of abortion are beside the point, they are a part of the conversation. This and future studies that shed light on the matter are legitimate topics of research.Whether it makes the mother ‘feel good’ or not, has never been directly at stake in the arguments for and against abortion.

What it actually says is that women who have abortions have more than twice the rate of trauma than women who give birth.
The finding that the incidence rate of psychiatric contact was similar before and after a first-trimester abortion does not support the hypothesis that there is an increased risk of mental disorders after a first-trimester induced abortion.
