The reality is when abortion was illegal the majority, 90% - 95% were performed by doctors. Not by creepy pervs in trench coats waving around rusty coat hangers hanging out in back alleys.
With that said, honestly? I have absolutely no sympathy for criminals. Especially child killers. If abortion was illegal and she sought one in the back alley, am I supposed to feel sorry for her because she got injured doing something illegal? Yeah, it sucks she’s in that situation, I’m sure she’s very annoyed that she has to face the consquences of her sexual actions. But just as I have no sympathy for the drunk driver who paralyses himself, or the bank robber who gets shot running away after punching out a teller, or the drug addict who contracts HIV from dirty needles, I don’t really have a lot of sympathy for the woman who harms herself doing something illegal and morally repugnant.
Further, I’d have to ask why is aboriton illegal in this situation? Are we talking pre-Roe? Or are we talking say 2020 when perhaps abortion is finally illegal in this particular state? Because such a difference is important to the scenario. Pre-Roe there wasn’t a lot of knowledge about foetal development, not a lot of real support for women in crisis pregnancy. Post Roe I would wager abortion was banned beccause of a change of societal views on the humanity of teh unborn - in which case the woman would know its classed as murder or some form of higher level homicide, and secondly, I can’t see abortion getting banned unless the support mechanisms are in place for these women.
Pre-Roe I’d tend to have more sympathy for these women, they’re simply ignorant. Post-roe, tough bikkies.
If she is desperate enough to seek a back alley for her woes then I’d wager she’s got some kind of mental health issue going on and requires assistance for self-harm tendancies. A dead child is not a cure for mental health woes. If she has the money to head out of state for an aboriton then chances are good she’s got money enough to make it through the pregnancy.
Long and short of it, as many have said already, its somewhat assaine to keep posting these rhetoricals. Abortion, whether in the back alley or the medical facility is still the worst kind of murder. Sure, she runs the risk of harm if she is stupid enough to go back alley, but again, the onus is on her, for the death of her child, and any harm she comes to doing it.
Besides, plenty of women have died in “safe and legal” abortions. So its rather moot.
