I know of one such place… it is called the Catholic Answers Forums

.
Ok, very good. Can a Muslim in an Islamic country, have the liberty and is free to learn Catholicism, without any reprisals from Muslim clerics or governing authorities? Or is viewing Catholicism done in privacy?

Of course you know that this forum is not the same as attending a Catholic Church, as explained by poshmaltesher in visiting a Muslim Mosque in an ecumenical spirit. Can a Muslim do the same in a Muslim country? So let us compare apples to apples without mixing and confusing the ecumenical dialogue.

Would it be a fair assessment hamba2han? that Muslim clerics and Islam would punish those Muslims who attended a Catholic Church or Catholic Study group in an ecumenical spirit to learn, while residing in a Muslim country?

Can you confirm whether this is true of Islam or not? That Muslims can openly attend a Catholic Church or Catholic study group without the threat of death in a Muslim country?

I pray that, Islam respect the dignity of Muslims humanity to grow in knowledge of other faiths with an ecumenical spirit without fear of death.

Peace be with you

During the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), a 60-strong Christian delegation from the town of Najran came to Madinah to make a treaty and have a religious discussion with him.

Muslims are therefore following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when we engage in religious dialogue with Christians.

The Bible does not only prophesy about the coming of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), both the Old and New Testaments also tell of the coming of "ten thousands of saints" of which I have once dedicated a whole thread to explaining who they were.
I glanced at the thread, and I do not understand what the 10,000s of saints has to do with Muhammed. Do you think there’s going to be 9,999 more Muhammeds?

But I think we’re all getting off topic.

What I asked was this: If Muslims do not believe the New Testament is the word of God, why search for prophecies about Muhammed in there?

I do not quite understand why anyone should feel offended or hurt by my suggestion that Christians should prostrate to the Lord on a regular basis and not to do this only on special days in a year.

After all, willingness to prostrate to the Lord is a sign of utmost devotion and hence Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and his disciples as well as all of the Biblical Prophets (peace be upon them all) who came before him did indeed regularly prostrate to the Lord when they prayed.

Genesis 17:3 "And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,"

Genesis 17:17 "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"

Exodus 34:8 "And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped."

Numbers 16:20-22 "And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?"

Joshua 5:14 "And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?"

Ezekiel 9:8 "And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?"

2 Chronicles 20:18 "And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD."

Ezekiel 11:13 "And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?"

Matthew 17:6 "And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid."

Matthew 26:39 "And he (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I would suggest that such prostration to the Lord in prayer be done regularly in the privacy of your home, preferably in the direction of Jerusalem if you like and I would also suggest that you do this immediately after you have taken your bath.

Also, I would like to add that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) i.e. the “ten thousands of saints” who were prophesied in both the Old and the New Testaments, are the reason why Muslims have absolutely no doubts at all regarding the authenticity of the Qur’an and also the accuracy of the Sunnah since it was through their painstaking efforts that the Qur’an that we have today has been preserved 100% pure and unedited since the time it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

QUOTE=hamba2han;6903714]I do not quite understand why anyone should feel offended or hurt by my suggestion that Christians should prostrate to the Lord on a regular basis and not to do this only on special days in a year.
You are greatly mistaken and have been misinformed about Catholicism. Our posture before the Lord is held in great esteem and practice both standing before the Lord, bowing, genuflecting and Kneeling. The reason we do so is because God himself is present before us; Here are the scriptures that Catholics practice.

Phillippians 2:9
Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name 7 that is above every name,
10
**that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, 8 of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, **
11
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, 9 to the glory of God the Father.

Romans 14:10
Why then do you judge your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your brother?** For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11
for it is written: "As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bend before me, and every tongue shall give praise to God." **

Apparently you confuse protestantism with the ancient Catholic Church which predates your founder’s birthdate by many centuries. I don’t think it offends Catholics to bow, kneel, genuflect, lay down on our faces (which is also a practice) before our Lord in adoration and when our priests take vows and renew their vows of chastity, obedience and poverty. I have only introduced a Catholics posture of reverence before God.

Our Catholic Saints both in heaven and earth kneel before the almighty presence as stated in God’s Word.

Question? Catholics kneel before the True Presence of God, How does the Muslim identify kneeling before the True presence of God? Are Muslims kneeling before a book? a building? a city? Can you explain why a Muslim kneels before such material things? How does God reveal himself to a Muslim? so as to bow before Him?

Please don’t get offended in asking you how does a Muslim know the presence of God so as to pay reverence?

Peace be with you

Seriously, it’s always copied and pasted. You can now ask anything! What’s your favorite color?
Prostrate in the direction of Jerusalem.
Does chocolate milk come from chocolate cows?
Prostrate in the direction of Jerusalem.
Is Muhammad even an historical figure?
Prostrate in the direction of Jerusalem.
apoeifjapeifj298530-q98ra0fajapadoipfauopap8fuaep98uae8fu?

Seriously, you won’t get any answer out of him from here on out except the same copied and pasted response.

Your post cracked me up so much… 😃

Thanks for the laughs, I’ve had an awful year so far & haven’t been able to laugh much…

I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.(Psalm 138:2)

I can of course quote verses from the Bible but the real reason why Muslims pray the way we do is because the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “Pray as you have seen me praying”.

Question is: Why do Christians pray the way they do?

Do Christians even know the name of the first person in Christian history to cross himself when praying?

Better question: Why does it MATTER how we pray? Does it matter whether or not we’re prostrated, standing out in the rain getting soaked or lying caked in mud? We’re not perfect, and a particular posture or cleanliness won’t make us perfect or more pleasing to God (except cleanliness of the spiritual variety, perhaps). God doesn’t give a rip whether or not my face is dirty or if I’ve just been ripped to shreds by shrapnel or if I’m clean enough to pass the white-glove test. All that matters is that we humble ourselves before God in prayer, admit that He is the Almighty, our Father, Lord and Creator, that He has all the power, and we exist to serve and love Him. Heck, I think He’d be glad that we bothered to talk with Him at all, whether it’s bringing needs before Him or letting Him do the talking. As long as we take some time to be with Him, I think He would be happy with us.

Why quote something from the Bible when it’s been said over and over and over by muslims, NOT just here on CAF, but everywhere on the internet that the Bible is corrupted.

Why does it MATTER how we pray, you ask?

Well, it most certainly mattered to the Biblical Prophets (peace be upon them all).

Why did Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc. prostrate to their Lord?
Why did David bow down toward his Lord’s holy temple?

Were not the Prophets of the Bible closer to their Lord than anyone else in the history of humankind? … Since the answer is obviously ‘Yes’, then why should lesser mortals than these Biblical Prophets be so reluctant to prostrate to the Lord regularly in their own prayers and instead happily invent and innovate new ways to “worship” Him?

The prize in the Hereafter is just too huge for us to merely “think” that He would be happy with how we worship Him… We have to actually KNOW what will make Him happy with how we pray to Him.

The Biblical Prophets (peace be upon them all) certainly KNEW what would make the Lord happy with them and that is why they prayed the way they did.

Matthew 7:15-23

15
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
16
By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17
Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
18
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
19
Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
20
So by their fruits you will know them.
21
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
22
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
23
Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’”

There actually IS a prophecy about Muhammed. Here it is:

Galatians, Chapter 1:

Verse 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed!
Verse 9 As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be accursed!

Clearly the information received by Muhammed, purportedly from an “angel” was not of God.

The same can be said of Mormonism.

Question is: Why do Christians pray the way they do?
(John 4:23-24):
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” :gopray2:

I have seen the photo and I have to say that lying on one’s stomach does not at all fit the description in the Bible of “falling on one’s face” which is how the Biblical Prophets (peace be upon them all) prostrated to their Lord.

How would someone “fall on his face” if he is already in a prone position?.. It really does not make much sense since to “fall” would mean to do so from an upright or sitting position.

Where in the Bible does it describes the Prophets praying to the Lord by lying on their stomachs?

And on a related note, here is a hadith concerning the practice of lying on one’s stomach:

Ya’ish ibn Tikhfa al-Ghifari said, “My father said, ‘Once while I was lying on my stomach in the mosque, a man moved me with his foot and said, “This is a position which Allah hates.”’” He said, “I looked up and it was the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.” … [Abu Dawud]

Is this the way muhammad would pray before or after he had relations with his nine year old wife? I just read an article about some muslims in England attacking the True Religion of God, i.e. the Catholic Church, for its rampant pedophilia. Granted that is a terrible sin, but at least our religion was not founded by a pedophile. Once a muslim can explain to me how that, and most of the other things the “prophet” did isn’t immoral I will take your group seriously.

Why did Jesus never mention the coming of the prophet Mohammed, after all he did fortell many things that would come to pass:confused:
I don’t know if you know any of this, but I’ll summarize it for your review.
  • mohamad is in a cave, alone
  • a spirit takes him & squeezes him 3 times
  • the spirit tells mohamad to read 3 times
  • mohamad tells the spirit he cannot read
  • the spirit then starts saying things - Sura - Al-Alaq #96
  • mohamad is scared, runs out of the cave
  • runs to his wife & tells her all about his experience in the cave with this beast spirit
  • mohamad is so scared, he tries to kill himself by falling off a big mountian
  • the wife then takes mohamad to her uncle - who is suppose to be a Christian
  • this uncle listens to the story about the beast spirit in the cave squeezing mohamad
  • the uncle then proclaims to mohamad that he is a prophet & that allah was trying to communicate with mohamad.
** the end **

So in closing, mohamad is a self proclaimed prophet.

This is why Lord Jesus Christ never spoke about mohamad - he falls under the “false” prophet category.
