To tell you the truth, it sounds more what a retired general would say. By the time an officer makes General - he is so politicized that he knows what to say and what not to say.

Usually outspoken - good - officers never make it past the Colonel ranks anymore. Even being a Colonel is political, but sometimes good officers make it to Colonel.

And not to bash all Generals, but Generals are led by the Pentagon and the President quite a bit. There is a point where I am sure a General’s viewpoint does get in the way and they are probably encouraged to give their letter of resignation, or they just do not agree and put in their letters of resignation willingly.

Some slots for General were also filled by ‘affirmative action’ people. We saw that a lot with blacks and women. Sorry, but in the late 1970s and early 1980s - women were not in some jobs and these positions could indeed be filled by women. Very few blacks were in the higher officer ranks, and the first woman General (in the USMC) was a Colonel that was my Colonel during bootcamp.

The Army was more integrated, but don’t kid yourself it too had to be pushed to more fully integrate.

The officer ranks were not something that I aspired to go into. It is a backstabbing group if they make it past 1st Lt. Enlisted people have more respect for the Warrent Officers and officers that come up through the enlisted ranks. But, they never make it to General - usually Lt.Col or Captain is the highest they can make it to. I don’t know anyone who made it past those two ranks. There could be some - I just didn’t know any and I was in almost 10 years.
For the record, it was General Tommy Franks, Commander of USCENTCOM on September 11th. In 2004, after his retirement, he wrote a memior of his career, and I strongly recommend you read it. It’s called, “A Soldier’s Story”, and it’s a very large book, and yes, Gen. Franks did start out as a Private in the Army.

Generals are not politicized. Generals are the only government leaders who will tell a President to **** off in a heartbeat. Obama’s speeches changed instantly after he returned from Iraq because (and the media will always deny it) General David Petraus told Obama, *.

That’s not the first time that happened. Colin Powell abruptly retired when Clinton was elected for reasons that are still a mystery.

I agree that Warrents get more respect, and you’re average Colonel used to be a suck-up. But things have changed in the last ten years, and combat experience is valued more than anything. You can’t get that senior without it anymore.

Good to know!!👍*

I obviously have no problem with prayers being said :gopray2: - I just don’t understand the concept of some prayers being “valid and proper” or some being “defective” unless it is in terms of the intent and the heart of the person offering the prayer. Prayers that appear pious on the outside can be displeasing to God if the person is not an upright person.

I really hate when people bring up the “prophecies” argument about Jesus. It eases a lot of people’s minds, for sure, but is not substantial at all. The prophecies which Christians claim to be about Jesus are not understood in the same light by Jews. And when it comes to understanding Jewish scriptures, I’d be far more likely to trust the opinion of the Jews instead of the Christians. The fact that Jews reject the blasphemy of Christianity is a strong proof against it.
So…Jews were right to reject Jesus because of blasphemy- this legitimizes the death sentence of the crucifixion, but God faked them out because Jesus wasn’t really blaspheming, and Jesus slipped away quietly alive but is never heard from again allowing Christians to preach error until Mohammed comes along and says Jesus had the truth, sort of, and the Jews are evil for killing all past prophets including/excluding Jesus (almost) justifing God taking favor away from Jews and Christians and giving it to the Moslems.
I have yet to see anyone prove the Qur’an false (including you), and I know I never will. If someone told you that he read the Bible and it convinced him of Christianity, I doubt you would question him at all. And the Qur’an is something far more amazing than that.
So…Mohammed has divine revelations that confirm what has come before, but what came before has been corrupted and the fact that the Jews rejected Christ justifies a condemnation of the Jews, and the corruption of St. Paul justifies condemnation of Christianity because Paul never met Jesus- though Jesus was alive somewhere in hiding.

In summary, the Quran is an error free literal recitation of words attributed to the God of Abraham and Jesus, spoken to, unwitnessed by anyone, a single person Mohammed, who never met Jesus or Abraham, (same justification to discredit St. Paul) confirming Abraham and Jesus as examples of piety and compassion that came before, became corrupted, but which is excused for Mohammed to act contrary to all Jewish and Christian theology so that Mohammeds offensive warring, marriages to children and family, assassinations, and stealing makes this hadith authentic:
Abu Huraira reported many ahadith from Allah’s Messenger and one is that Allah’s Messenger said: I am most close to jesus, son of Mary, among the whole of mankind in this worldly life and the next life. They said: Allah’s Messenger how is it? Thereupon he said: Prophets are brothers in faith, having different mothers. Their religion is, however, one and there is no Apostle between us (between I and jesus Christ). (Book #030, Hadith #5836)~Muslim

What is amazing is your logic. You demand that we prove the Qur’an is false at the same time you demand that we prove the Bible is true. The burden of proof is on the advocate; IOW, if you are an advocate for Islam, you must prove the Qur’an is true.
And the Qur’an is something far more amazing than that.
The only thing so amazing about it is that so many people accept it as truth based solely on its own assertion.

Well for one thing, this quote you posted shows that Muhammad knew nothing about pythons since he believed they’re poisonous!
**People may doubt, mock and even dismiss this as tales to scare children, but the Prophet’s words are true and those who disbelieve will see with their own horrified eyes after their death. Allah has transmitted these warnings to us through the noble mouth of the Messenger of Allah and all of us should pray that these realities enter our hearts. **

Apparently, Allah doesn’t know anything about pythons either!😃

That quote is what made me post this whole excerpt. It specifically says that people will doubt these things as just scary tales, but that the Prophet’s words are true. I guess I’ll have to google Muhammad and pythons to see where this is in the Quran - or maybe this is just hadith. ??? I think I found a site where you can search for terms in the Quran similar to Bible Gateway that I sometimes use if I need to know where a particular quote is from in the Bible. (Without having to spend hours flipping through my own Bible :o )

Edit: Well, Okay that was a bust! 😛 Python doesn’t appear anywhere in the Quran. I’ll have to try google or something else.

Hi - how about “snake”, “snakes”, “viper”, “serpent”???

Just a suggestion… 🙂

I’ll try those next.

I did find this:
The bald snake:
The prophet said: it is a male serpent that tortures the Muslim, who didn’t pay the alms,
and who is not among the rite saved from the fire
Narrated Abe-Katada: the prophet said: in the day of the resurrection, God had assigned
a snake for the Muslim who didn’t pay the alms and who is not among the rite saved from
the fire (10)
Narrated Jarir; the prophet said: God get out of the hell a serpent called the brave, it
encircles the Muslim, in its mouth, there are two teeth, that pierce his head till reaching
his brain , it was called the bald as its hair fall because of the poison within (11)
That’s an absolute horror and terrorism fatherzakaria.net/books/qaf/pdf/74-Episode.pdf
Interesting site - it’s by Father Zakaria Boutros (I like him - I wish his show was on TV in the U.S. 😦 )
It also says that only 1 rite of Islam is going to Heaven - all the others are going to hell - and there are 200 different rites in Islam (I didn’t know that!) And supposedly there is fighting amongst them as to who the rite is that is saved. (I suppose that’s a topic for another thread.)

Edit:
snake - yes, but in reference to Moses (and his staff)
snakes (plural) - no
viper - no
serpent - yes, but again in reference to Moses

This stuff must be in a hadith somewhere. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can shed some light on it.
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

When you hear this type of thing basically they cannot prove that the Bible is corrupt. They are the ones who have asserted that the Bible is corrupt - it is on their shoulders to prove it, not ours to prove that the Bible is ok.

They are squirming and know they cannot prove it based on a man who wasn’t a Christian or a Jew, and couldn’t read and write. There is no basis for their argument.

There are about 50 of Father Zakaria’s shows that have been downloaded at Mohammad Tube. Mohammad Tube has been set up by an ex-muslim arab Christian because his videos on youtube are always being flagged by muslims on mass and he keeps getting banned. This way, they can’t stop him, (well not yet, YHWH bless him and his work).

I ran a search in there and you can see them all here.

They are excellent. They are speaking in arabic, but there is a voice translation in English. Recommend them. I’ve downloaded the lot so I can re-watch them easily.

Thank you!!! :extrahappy: I can’t wait to watch them. I started watching the first one and had to laugh though because it was like the old Japanese films with their dialogue. And the translator for Father Boutros doesn’t sound anything like I picture Father sounding. 😃

Thank you so much! :signofcross:

I am watching father Botrous right now on tv but thank you for the link Chrisse:)

I know what you mean. There is a male and a female who work with him. Wait until you listen to the female voice-over, and she laughs when the woman laughs 😃 , it’s funny.

But, for all that, the information is excellent. The two others work brilliantly with Father Zakaria. They are exposing Islam for what it is, but with love for the muslims who have been blinded, but in their hearts want to follow YHWH.

I absolutely agree with this - that the majority of mainstream Muslims are just like everyone else in terms of wanting to worship God and raise their families etc. They have just been blinded by Islam and misinformation about Christianity. Since some of them are not allowed to study Christianity they are stuck with what they know and what they’ve been taught. I honestly think that most Muslims don’t want all this extremism and jihad etc., but in some countries they don’t have the freedom to leave or to express their disbelief in these doctrines because as Sister Amy said they would be labelled pseudo-Muslims or not really Muslims and in some cases tortured or killed. I pray that God will bless and protect Father Boutros and guide him in all his work to bring people to Jesus. :highprayer:

The problem is that with the basic teachings of Muhammad there is this thing we term ‘sudden jihad syndrome’ where seemingly sane people go out and murder for Allah.

It doesn’t take much for this to happen and when you have the basic teaching that islam is superior to all others and others should be dead, converted or subjugated then you don’t have too much stability in the thought that peace, our definition of peace, will last.

:signofcross:

People have died and been persecuted for the sign of the cross that we display quite often on these threads. A group of people who are that untolerant due to the base teachings isn’t one that I would call ‘stable’, or ‘peaceful’.

Indeed and muslims have no problem stopping and praying where ever they are during prayer times and yet, we don’t say anything or “persecute” them.

I see them on the streets of New York city and especially on Friday prayers, they all line up on the sidewalks with the mats at hand, shoes off and do their thing.

We tolarate it, yet, they can’t tolarate our beliefs… 🤷
