I join the forum because I want to share some of my knowledge about my catholic faith. But sorry for my wrong grammar because it is hard for me speak/write in English.

Regarding the topic, for me the very important thing that we must have before adoring in the Blessed Sacrament is our faith. Faith that once we entered the Adoration Chapel, we believe that there’s our Lord waiting for us to talk to Him heartedly. Praise, give thanks, offer, repent & ask for petition. Visiting the Blessed Sacrament build a heartly relationship between God & man and ofcourse many people want this relationship. But it is not easy for a man to believe that the piece of bread that been exposed in the silent room and the bread that’s been congregated in the mass is our God, not a symbol nor not an imagination, it is truly the body of Christ. What was happened when Christ institute his body to His apostles is what exactly happening at the congregation. And that body is the body that been exposed in the Adoration Chapel. Remember that Christ told His Apostles to watch for Him when they’re in the Garden of Getsemani, but the Apostles slept, that’s why Christ told them “Could you not watch for me, for even one hour.” Now our Lord asking for us to watch Him and talk to Him, but now not in the Getsemani, but in the Adoration Chapel.

They pay me for my ability with grammar and spelling and such. but that’s just my living…

Your message came through loud and clear… thanks for joining this forum!!

I love going to Adoration. There are two Perpetual Adoration chapels near me.

Here is a link to a website that has a camera in a Perpetual Adoratin Chapel and you can “visit” the Blessed Sacrament 24/7 via your computer! savior.org/

God bless you all for your many hours of Adoration. We will never know until we get to Heaven how efficacious these hours were. Never think that nothing is happening even if you are only there for fifteen minutes! 👍

Peace and all good,

Thomas2

We opened a perpetual (well, almost) eucharistic adoration chapel in our parish and the fruits have been tremendous. Confessions have increased; Mass attendance has increased and there have been conversions and even miracles. To my mind, there is little more a pastor can do for the spiritual good of his people than support and open an adoration chapel, where the people can come and spend time with the One who loves them with an infinite love. If you have not yet experienced the peace and joy of spending time before Our Blessed Lord in the Holy Eucharist, I urge you to do so as soon as possible. These chapels can save the world! :amen:

Thanks, Thomas2 for the link to saviour.org, what a wonderful addition to my desktop! We have a parish about 3 minutes from us who are in their 8th year of Perpetual Adoration. They try to have 2 adorers for every hour. I am in my 4th year of participation. I go every Wed from 6-7pm and for whatever reason, they seem to have difficulty keeping a second adorer at this hour, so quite often, I have the hour to myself with Jesus. What an extra blessing!! I can pray out loud, sing hymns or just talk to Jesus. The hour goes by so fast!! I work about a minute from the church, so I try to stop for a few minutes after work. Unfortunately, I often give in to the hectic demands of the day and head home instead of the chapel, but when I do make the effort to stop, I sam so glad I did. The more time I spend, the more time I want to spend. It has truly enriched my faith.

I recently read in my church bulletin that they were going to have to discontinue Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. It had been after the 9am Mass to 8pm on 1st Friday of the month. There were times when volunteers were left unrelieved and the Blessed Sacrament was nearly left unattended.

Even though I had never taken the time to go myself, I felt a great travesty was about to unfold if that was allowed to happen. I called the Pastor and volunteered to stay after the 9am Mass until 5pm every 1st Friday. Much to my surprise, he would not accept my offer.

We talked a bit and for every reason he gave for why he wouldn’t allow me, I told him, respectfully, that his reason was not good enough. We agreed to pray about it. I went to Mass on 1st Friday and remained until 5pm. Before the next 1st Friday I again called my Pastor and asked what answer had come from his prayers. Again, he thought the the length of time was much to much and so I knew my challenge would not be easy.

I asked what the difference would be if I volunteered to work in his office for 8 hours or remained in church for 8 hours, allowing the benefit of the Blessed Sacrament to be exposed for whoever might stumble in and find refuge in Christ on the Altar. Again we agreed to pray about it. I went to Mass on 1st Friday and remained as before.

Now it is the Sunday before 1st Friday and I no longer read in the bulletin that they will be discontinuing Adoration but instead read that there will be 1st Friday Adoration. I don’t think I will call this time. Although I never thought it was necessary to expose the Blessed Sacrament in order to be in the presence of Christ, I have found a deeper and stronger sense of His presence in me.

The time I have spent with Him has brought a refreshing sense of strength and courage to pick up my cross each day and face life’s challenges head on instead of going around or over them. Maybe it was me who was meant to stumble in and find refuge in Christ on the Altar.

ive heard of powerful conversions from people who practiced daily adoration. it seems to have a very powerful affect.

I had to vote “not on a regular basis” but that is about to change. About 2 years ago I was going weekly but financial reasons forced me back to work full time. I was unable to find another time that I could continue adoration so I reluctantly gave it up. (Thank God that I was doing it at the time of 911, it was a great comfort to me. That morning, after having seen the live newscast of the towers being struck and falling I had to go and pray just to make it through the rest of the day.)

I have just signed up to go once a week again. I was able to quit work (having had a baby at the age of 42!) and since I am home fulltime I have found an hour that works with a 7 month old. I am so looking forward to starting back tomorrow!

I go to Adoration on saturday mornings from 2am-5am. I’ve been at it for a year now and have been blessed immensely by it. I’ve felt God’s Presence many times. Sometimes it is stronger than at other times.

My church had Eucharistic Adoration during Lent only. I approached my priest and asked if we could have it more often. He said “Yes. Would you like to head it up?” 🙂 Yikes! Me! I said yes. We have it every First Friday and will be celebrating our one year anniversary in October.

It has been a blessing for me because people thank me for organizing it and have shared their most beautiful and personal experiences in front of the Blessed Sacrament with me. Truly, they gift me with their stories and it makes me hunger for more.

I also go to daily Mass and I spend 15 minutes prior to Mass in front of the Tabernacle. Even if the doors are closed, I know He’s in there and He’s listening to me love Him.

I’m presently a substitute Adorer in our parish, which has Perpetual Adoration. My favorite time is in the middle of the night. Yes, it’s difficult for a lazy slug like me to set the alarm, get up and get some clothes on, and drive 12 miles to sit in the Chapel for an hour… But I’m most often alone then, and I can sing my prayers (with the Aquinas hymns) – sometimes I take music and play the organ in the chapel, since music is my favorite way to pray.

I am not presently disciplined enough to go regularly, but I am growing to love it. If my new job will place me close to a new parish with Adoration, I will continue to participate.

I can tell you that in the last year since I started Adoration, I’ve sins I could not overcome and they disappeared overnight! Also, I’ve experienced God’s Presence very strongly many times. Another thing, my charity has increased and my will has strengthened. I’m not the kind to make up stuff. If I went and nothing happened, I’d say so. I am grateful to God that this hasn’t been the case. I have had the strength to go through afflictions and trials that I could never do on my own or do before I started Adoration. Grace is in the air!

I LOVE ADORATION. OUR PARISH IS NOW BUILDING AN ADORATION CHAPEL. WE CURRENTLY HAVE ADORATION ON 1ST FRIDAY.
SEVERAL YEARS AGO WE INTRODUCED ADORATION TO OUR PARISH WITH WEEK LONG ADORATION,INCLUDING SPECIAL MASSES ,SPEAKERS,ETC. LIKE A MISSION,BUT, INCLUDING 24/7 ADORATION. SOOOOO MANY PEOPLE HAD NO IDEA WHAT ADORATION WAS, WHAT A MONSTRANCE WAS, WHAT BENEDICTION WAS, ETC. THERE WERE MANY CONVERSIONS DURING THOSE WEEKS FOR THE 5 YEARS WE HAD THEM.
IT WAS AN EDUCATION PROCESS FOR THE PARISHIONERS. EACH ORG. IN THE PARISH PLANNED AN HOUR FOR THEIR GROUP TO HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL AND SOMEONE LED THE ROSARY EACH NIGHT AT 12MN.THAT WEEK WAS ALWAYS SO BLESSED. WE ARE PLANNING ANOTHER SPECIAL WEEK WHEN THE **NEW ADORATION CHAPEL OPENS NEXT YEAR:dancing: **
HOPE YOU ALL CAN FIND AN ADORATION CHAPEL NEAR YOU. TIME WELL SPENT.
ONE WOMAN I MET SAID SHE WAS PUT OUT WHEN HER PRIEST ASKED FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR ADORATION.SHE THOUGHT “WHEN DO I HAVE AN HOUR IN A DAY FOR THAT?” PRETTY SOON THE LORD SHOWED HER THE HOURS THAT WERE AVAILABLE-THE TIME SHE SPENT READING THE PAPER,WINDOW SHOPPING, WATCHING TV,ETC. YOU GET THE IDEA.
HAPPY ADORING:blessyou:

I am very fortunate to live in a parish that has had Perpetual Adoration for over four years. I first signed up for an hour in 2000, and I remember thinking that it would be a long hour. It was at first, but I have gone for an hour and stayed longer without even noticing. In October of 2000, I started to go every day to pray a rosary for the up coming election, and an end to abortion. I just never stopped. I don’t quite get there every day, but if I’m in town I am about 99%. I’m not always there for an hour, but usually I am. I now do a second regular hour (it is still hard to get regular adorers). My wife is on the reserve list, I frequently take the request if she can not.We frequently go together. When I travel on business, I will often visit a chapel when time and circumstances permit.

It is hard to even describe the differance that this has made in my life, and in our parish. The last couple mornings there were at least 150 people at the 7:00 AM mass, and we have an 8:00 that is also well attended. A couple of years ago there were sometimes as many as 50 or 60, though generally less. The fellow who takes care of the adoration schedules has estimated that 150,000 adorers have spent time in prayer. Many of these people are from neighboring parishes that do not have there own Chapel.

I agree with those who have said that praying before the Tabernacle is as effective. However, our church is locked most times, and our Chapel is open. I also know, that I would find it more difficult to keep my commitments to prayer if I didn’t make the visits. Not getting there leaves me a little empty, and I cannot imagine just not going.

We all have habits. Visiting the Adoration Chapel is a good habit, and I would advise anyone to pick a bad habit (one that seems ingrained) and replace it with a Chapel habit. But don’t do this unless you really want to change.

To finally answer the question from JennyM, yes in my neighborhood more people are spending more time in prayer and mediation at the adoration chapel.

I’ve read all the posts and I’m still not clear…What is adoration? What is it’s purpose and how/what do you pray for it?

I know this sounds weird but I have an image in my mind…If you’ve ever seen the disney version of Hunchback of Notre Dame…You know the part when esmerelda is singing and all the people are kneeling and praying?? Is that it?

once a month my youth group has Adoration & after Daily Mass on Wednesdays my church has Adoration, but I can’t stay but for a few minutes then. My parents are Catholic but don’t believe in it.

I love adoration, I just started knowing what it is this year. I even have a poem about the “realness” if anyone cares to hear it

We are blessed to have perpetual adoration at our parish as well. I have always made a point to go as much as I can, but have recently made extra time to go regularly every week for one full hour.

It is amazing the graces you receive and the peace. Interestly enough, it has been my daughter that brought me there regularly. Ever since she was 4 years old, she has loved adoration. I would bring her there and she would stay for quite a long time. She is now 7 and wants to go most of the time when we are near our parish.

She always talks about how peaceful it is. She has not made first communion yet, next year, but she knows He is there. What a gift.

So you are familiar with disney movies, but it is not like what you think about Hunchback, is more close with the movie the Prince of Egypt. When Moses climb the Mt. Sinai and he saw the burning bush, he take off his slippers and give praise to God. What did Moses did, is what we are doing in the Adoration Chapel, take off our slippers, kiss the ground and praise to the Blessed Scrament which we faithfully believe that the body of our God. So if we have faith in the Blessed Sacrament we also believe that God is in the Adoration Chapel. So wherever the body of our God is, is a holy ground, your faith in communion must be also your faith in the Blessed Sacrament thats in the Adoration Chapel. Faith is the key in believing the Adoration. What it’s purpose?, well Adoration build more deep relationship between you and God, cause here your not following what commentators says. When you pray in the Adoration you are following your heart. Try it, sometime in your visit you’ll never notice your tears are flowing into your face, and you’ll feel God is embracing you, levitating you, and that can only done by God. Be true to you’reself when talking to Him in the Adoration, never be poetic, just let your heart talk. You can see the difference between praying in your room and praying infront of His body.

Adoration is simpy this: During Mass an additional host the size needed to fit the Monstrance is also Consecrated and placed inside the little glass case that fits inside the Monstrance and set aside while the rest of the Mass is concluded. This little glass case that contains the Consecrated Host, which has become the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ thru transubstaniation, is placed into the Monstrance during the Expostion rite so that those who (like me need to spend a little more time with Jesus) wish to Adore can do so. If Adoration is to be later or in another location, the little glass case is placed in the Tabernacle before the priest leaves the altar. This is not done in many of the places I’ve visited, but I am praying they are working on getting it right.

Peace and all good,

Thomas2

We have had adoration for I am sure of over 8 years could be longer.
The adoration chapel has helped to build the parish.
There were many who did not want the kneelers back in the church. We had a lot of very (liberal problems)
But through adoration things have changed.
I often go just to sit and be with Christ. The peace that I receive there helps me to go on even in the bad times.
Some days I could go and stay all day if God would allow it. But we do have some adorers who spend many hours a day there.
The more time I give to Christ, the more time he gives back to me to take care of my responsibilities in my day.😃
