I agree.I don’t advocate this. I advocate following the advice of one’s confessor, when that priest has all the pertinent information.

It is time for some soul-searching, friend.
Handling this on your own has not worked. You have proven unreliable in the work of fidelity, in the work of saying “no” to a lustful desire. It is not the temptation that is the sin. It is the cooperation with the lustful thoughts, the entertaining of the desire. You stop desiring her not by hoping helplessly that your desire for a woman other than your wife will go away by itself but by actively and repeatedly telling yourself “she is not mine, I may not have her, and it is a sin to even covet her, let alone to take her for myself.” You have instead lulled yourself into a continuing belief that you can withstand near occasions of sin when you have proven repeatedly that you cannot.
You are falling for every trick of the evil one. It is not my intention to shame you. It is my intention to wake you up and remind you the voice telling you that you cannot help what you think about is lying to you. You are being actively deceived.
You have proven that sparing your wife involvement in your reclamation is not a realistic course of action. If you intend to save your marriage, you have little choice left but to call her in for her help. That is your goal, right–to save your marriage? If not your marriage, then at least your soul. That is work that she signed up for, too, for better or worse, whether “worse” comes by her fault or yours. You are to help each other to Heaven, friend. You need her help. Do not be too proud or too fearful to ask for it.
Contact your parish priest, explain the situation, and arrange to tell your wife with your pastor present. If he counsels you not to tell her, then at least you and he can meet with her later and he can explain to her why he told you to spare her involvement in this. In this way, she can have some assurance that you did not withhold this information out of self-interest. You need to have this conversation with him outside the confessional, however, as he is bound by the seal of the confession not to divulge what you tell him within the sacrament itself.
Go talk to him and lay out a plan to save your marriage. Do not delay one hour longer than necessary, because you will be laying the foundation that may be the difference between your wife leaving and taking your child with her and staying and falling in love with you all over again. That, friend, needs to be your goal.
**Do you really believe your wife has no need to love or be loved? **Think again. There is not one of us who does not need to love or be loved. It is your responsibility as a husband to love your wife and to see to it that she also honors her promise before God to love you–not for as long as you mutually agree to love, but until one of you dies. That is the work that is to make you into saints. Try out the book Five Love Languages, because it may be that what you and she are referring to when you talk about “love” is not the love she needs to give and receive.]
I agree that printing out what he wrote might help him to tell his pastor everything he ought to be told before he is asked for advice. Garbage in, garbage out–the pastor cannot give reliable or prudent guidance where he is not given a sufficiently full and correct history of the problem. That doesn’t require all the “gory details,” but it does require all the pertinent details. The OP should print out his post and give it to the priest. Note the last time was last night, presumably after the last time he confessed to his priest. It is definitely ongoing. The priest also told him to break of the relation and stay away from her, he instead had her spend the night and cheated again:shrug:
I agree. Fortunately most of the situations that are posted on this forum can safely be filed under, “things that never happened.” So at the very least it isn’t real people being discussed and there aren’t any real lives on the line. Otherwise I would be a little more concerned.Yes and unless there is a legitimate question…like “do we need a dispensation to marry a Muslim?” Or "is foreplay allowed during the marriage embrace"etc…then they shouldn’t be posting IMHO! These forums are far FAR from private. A counselor or a priest are bound to protect privacy. I’m sure this guys wife won’t want to accidentally discover her husband’s affair is posted in cyberspace for everyone to see and comment on. We should respect the privacy of all involved, after all we’d want the same for us if it were our marriage!
Forums have their benefits, this is NOT one of them.![]()
In my opinion, you need to:I feel awful!!!
As some of you may know, my twin sister had an affair which lasted around 5 months. She has gotten over it after a lot of heartache and is now on the right track to God.
Well, i cannot believe that i have just suffered the same fate!!!
I fell for a dear friend of mine, and the wifes! We got close and i committed adultery with her!! Oh my God!! I cannot believe what i have gone and done!
The wife and I have drifted apart over many years. We have a lovely child (Under 10).** We fell out of love and respect and closeness.** This ‘woman’ was the same. Several children, loveless marriage. We got to be very close friends. Good pals. Good to talk to.
Well, one day we just had a passionate embrace and next min we are in bed!!!
This has happened on several occasions over Lent etc!!! Sex, confession, sex, confession, sex confession!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Last time was last night. She is best friends with my wife. She stayed with us. I asked her into spare bedroom. We made love. I got up this morning and i want to die!!! This has to stop. After all the advice i gave my sister i am now in the depths of hell myself!
I love God. I am an EHMC. My priest has told me to carry on being an EHMC. He told me i must forget this woman. To sin no more.
People, it is lust. Pure and simple. Lust!!! I just want her when i see her. I know this is so wrong!** I do love my wife. But we have grown so so far apart!!**
I wish i could forget this woman but she is my wifes best friend, and her daughter and my daughter as super best friends!!! Only today we all went out for the day together!!
Her husband is very selfish and she wants to leave him.
I have known her for a long time but only recently we got close.
How do i deal with the lust? She is sooooooooooooo good looking, so sexy!!!
I want to take her from my mind. I wish i was blind so that i never saw her again!!!
I have talked to my priest. He was very understanding and superb. I am lost. Need God. I need my faith. I need my wife and daughter.
**Closeness has not been in my marriage for many many years!! I am not talking sex. I am talking huggs, kisses, talking etc.
**
My wife is now trying. I am too.
How do i stop lust!!! Sexual urges!! Wanting this other woman!!!
I need God so much!!!

I quite agree with thisIt was an adulterous affair. What circumstances need to be different to make you say “don’t listen to your confessor?”
This post makes me sick to my stomach. You’re not sorry in the least. If you were, you would have stopped the adultery by now. Saying it’s “all my fault, my wife is innocent” doesn’t make it right. True repentance means you go and sin no more. When you are truly ready to STOP committing this sin, then you can go to Confession, make a TRUE Act of Contrition, and be absolved. Right now, it’s just, “I’ll have my fun and then go be absolved.” It don’t work that way, pal. :nope:I feel awful!!!

Does the OP say “have my fun and then go be absolved”? No. He said no such thing. He said, “Sex, confession, sex, confession, sex confession!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!”This post makes me sick to my stomach. You’re not sorry in the least. If you were, you would have stopped the adultery by now. The woman is the wife’s best friend–and their daughters are best friends, too, is that right? In any event, he cannot just cut this off without anyone noticing. He’s almost certainly going to have to tell his wife. You should not tell your wife. Listen to everything your priest tells you to do and do it. Avoid this woman at all cost. Avoid looking at her and being around her. Think, “Is it worth me going to hell over?” NO!!!
Maybe I was harsh, and if so, I apologize. Resisting temptation is indeed hard. But true contrition does mean trying to avoid the behavior in the future. The OP has admitted he asked this woman into a guest bedroom in his home.Does the OP say “have my fun and then go be absolved”? No. He said no such thing. He said, “Sex, confession, sex, confession, sex confession!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!”
What does St. Paul say?
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold into slavery to sin. What I do, I do not understand. For I do not do what I want, but I do what I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I concur that the law is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not. For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. Now if (I) do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand. For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self, but I see in my members another principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I myself, with my mind, serve the law of God but, with my flesh, the law of sin. Rom. 7:14-25
Obviously, it takes more than will power to resist sin. The OP needs to find other avenues to avoid the near occasion of sin. He probably needs to take his wife to his pastor and tell her. Then they can work on this together. Shielding her from his infidelities is not working.
