“offend the dignity of the people who were murdered” Hmmmmmm…Yet, we hang a crucifix about us??

Not an empty crucifix, BUT the crucifix of the Passion of Christ.:confused:

“offend the dignity of the people who were murdered”
No. "offends the dignity of the human beings pictured and so is at odds with our mission to promote and protect that dignity.” Those aborted children have a natural dignity that is not to be exploited for any cause. They are not the “exhibit du jour” for anyone! 😦

This is ridiculous… I’ve seen plenty of other protests where people show images, even graphic ones that show atrocities being committed on people, villagers, dissidents, etc. We have Holocaust museums devoted to showing these things because people need to know and acknowledge this horror. This is just stupidity on the part of the bishops.

It’s one thing to have the images there discreetly enough but well represented, but to not have any at all makes zero sense.

I agree. It does not make sense to argue on the one hand that the unborn are fully human with the same dignity as a born person, while at the same time treating images of their corpses in such a callous and disrepectful manner. The point is to persuade others to come to our viewpoint. I fear some in the movement have either given up persuasion and just want to attack, or (even worse) would rather have a controversial, widely publicized but ineffective event than have a respectful event that actually changes some minds.

I do not understand. I have exhibited photos and videos of limbs of the unborn to counter the non-human being argument of abortionists. How is factual evidence exploitation of the human dignity of the unborn? I surely hope that this is not an echo of the attitude behind WS.

I too, agree with those who say large graphic signs are inappropriate.

First, HOW is it appropriate for us to put a mangled body up on a sign and “respect life” underneith? We’re trying to say “pay attention” this is a human, but then we do some of the most degrading and horrible things by smearing the images all over 10 times actual size.

Second, these are truly PEOPLE. Why do anti-abortionists, of all people seem to so easly loose insight into this? These were someone’s children. Alot of people seem to think it’s cut and dry…as if a cold hearted woman walks into an aborturary and and kills her child. But often women are manipulated or forced, weither by parents or by places like PP. Or a woman chooses and a man is left childless. How do you think it reflects their view of the pro-life community when they see a date on a mangled body and know that that is THEIR child.

Third, legally minors must have parental permission to have a photograph displayed in public. These ARE minors. So unless you can find their parents then STOP. It should be illegal.

Fourth, small children and familes, and the feeble minded should be protected. How is it respectful to life to pretend everyone is just cold hearted abortion lovers when you could do serious damage to a young child or an adult autistic or even an altimer’s patient?

Can these pictures be used in conjunction with handouts that only reach adults? I’m ok with that, because it is the truth, like the holocoust.

I’m also sorry to learn of the bishops’ decisions re what MIGHT be shown.

Now, santi, re bolded above, what is “WS?”

Weak bishops, afraid to offend the murderers of the unborn. Jesus hangs on a crucifix in every Catholic Church. Some bishops need spine transplants.

I’m embarrassed by the leaders of the Catholic Church more and more each week.

Jesus chose to die on the cross. The children did not. Those innocents pictured were murdered by a doctor with the (often manipulated) permission of their mother. There are MUCH better ways to get a point across that respect life FAR more than gorey photos.

Computer generated fetal development, for one, is VERY powerful and speaks to humanity of the child without the carnage.

santi - thanks for the pm.
It answered my question re this post.

I will a agree Jesus chose to die. However, gory pics are effective up to a certain point. I work in an operating room. Gore has no effect on me any longer. It used to be pretty revolting at first. For those who don’t work in that type of environment, pics would get the point across. Computer generated pics are a joke.

The dehumanization of fetuses by the pro-choice movement has been very effective, unfortunately. Thank Satan for that.

Yes, becuase we haven’t been desensited to gore……have you seen any of the top 10 video games? Popular TV, music or moves?

Again, in a classroom setting with those 16+ or given hand to hand to adults that seem farily mentally stable. I’m not against that. What I AM against is postering pieces of these children. They’re HUMAN beings and we, of all people, should be respectful of that. I think that those posters are the epitiome of disrespect, just one step worse that the act itself.

There are better ways to humanize fetus’ than to show gorey dead bodies.

We should do both, before and after shots. It’s only reality after all. 🤷

Should we have censored the photos and movies of the liberated concentration camps of WWII? NO.

People didn’t display those in full view of children and handicapped. It’s VERY different.

Again, I’m not saying that it should be competly sensored. Where did you get that idea? I just said that posters and things that reach the general public are not approprate. That this information, just like pictures of holocoust tragedies, should be for mature adult populations ONLY.

Guess you better inform the Holocaust Museum
and exhibitions around the world of your **opinion **
since children are welcomed into these venues.

"Recommended for visitors 11 years of age and older. …"
(from Holocaust Museum site)

Children should see it most of all. Their horror should sear their minds and sink in.

This is not the same thing. A crucifix is a representation, not comparable to an actual photo. It eliminates or tones down the graphic details that would actually be present.

last time I heard museums were in buildings and NOT on the street being waved around.

I dunno that must be me.🤷

And again they DO set an age…so it’s 11 and not 16…but they DO recognize a boundry.

that’s just demnted.

By all means, let’s diminish the reality of the real-life horror. We wouldn’t want anyone to really have to visualize the truth or get too upset over this.

I am so disappointed in these bishops I could weep.
