First, it is about preservaning the innocence of children/mentally deficent from the “real-life” horror.

Second, and MUCH more, it is about preserving the dignity of those PEOPLE whom protesters feel able to swing around. THEY are dehumanizing those babies, turning them into a device used for shock factor.

I’m not saying NEVER display…just not in public places…controlled environments ONLY.
Controlled environment? And you are going to get people visiting these controlled environments, especially the people who most need to see these pictures? Shock factor, couldn’t have said it better myself, if these pictures save one life how beautiful is that. I wish i could be there to support the march, my prayers will be with you and all the babies in the pictures,

Not “respect to authority” as in “submit right away to anything a Forum Master says as if he was speaking ex-cathedra”, but the tone of some of your replies was not appropriate IMO. I knew about Priests for Life, they’re in favour of showing gruesome elements because “America won’t stop abortion, until America sees an abortion” , that’s their stance and I happen to disagree with it. You really think all it’d take to put an abrupt end to abortion would be to insert footage of an abortion between Sports and Weather Forecast segments in the 6PM new?

I remember Father John Corapi say in one talk that if he was Bishop of a Diocese where there was an abortion clinic, he’d rent the nearest place to that clinic he could find, and set up perpetual Eucharistic Adoration there and see the clinic close down. To me, that’s what Christian warfare, if you will, should be.

You seem to be seeing “logical fallacies” everywhere kimmie, even when there aren’t any. So be careful not to use it every time you don’t agree with someone. The bit about you not being able to drink alcohol everywhere in North America was not an ad hominem attack, just a friendly reminder that you’re still young, and perhaps you should cultivate humility more. For the good of this thread I’m signing off.
Sorry, you feel the need to sign off 😦

I for one do not want my Daughter to see any sign like that. Her innocence is much to fragile for that. I do not want my daughter to have nightmares from these images.

As for the Bishops of Alberta point of view - I for one will allow them their opinion just as they will allow you yours. For the people here to question their faith and commitment to the end of abortion is ridiculous. Bishop Henry is very outspoken with regards to the end of Abotion. If he feels that these pictures harm the dignity of the child pictured, I will stand with my Bishop.

Peace!👍

Exactly. He has prayed outside of the Kensington Clinic. Not with shocking photos of dead babies, but with his Rosary.

The Rosary is far more powerful than any shock propaganda. 👍

You talk “open season on bishops” yet make them political pawns in this statement?? .🤷
It’s a different emphasis, that’s what I was trying to say.
PS…Re: your request: Not all of us have the same capability to comply with your request. 🙂 Personally, I don’t see a problem 🤷

I tend to address statements made by others as I see fit… within the confines of CAF 🙂
Just a pet peeve of mine.
Exact words of Archbishop Terrence Prendergast of Ottawa

Neither condemning or condoning.
That was my point. Adding Archbishop Pendergast into the mix changes nothing because he’s no making an official statement for or against them. Although, isn’t it interesting that his personal opinion seems to align more with Archbishop Smith’s then the people promoting the images (just look at the statement you quoted).

Aye. 👍

As a person that lives in the Archdiocese we’re discussion, I find your assertion insulting. I’ll have you know that Archbishop Smith led a retreat for young people going to World Youth Day a couple weeks ago (I know because I was there). I would also encourage you to look up Nothing More Beautiful, which the Archdiocese has put on for 3 years. Not only that, Archbishop Smith came and celebrated Mass at our little college Chapel at the beginning of Advent. Furthermore, the bishops have marched in the last several (I don’t know how many exactly, but a few at least) Marches for Life and only made the decision not to this year.

After that, you can come back here and explain why you shouldn’t make armchair condemnations of things you obviously don’t have any understanding of.

I’ll remind you too that slandering a bishop without any proof whatsoever is a violation of forum rules. It’s no wonder non-Catholics can’t seem to respect bishops or the Pope, because Catholics are doing a great job at leading the way.
Not sure If your reply was for me, I did say SOME Bishops, and I’m speaking about what I see and hear, the last Bishop in my Parish reportedly said “Rome won’t tell me what to do” If that statement sits ok with you then thats fine.
Is it any wonder Vocations dwindled in the diocese , because God will not Bless disobedience.
