Maybe not, but it does contain the ETERNAL WORD of GOD.For this to be true it would have to be true for all times and for all. The bible has not been around for all time.![]()
BTTG;7940055:
My understanding is that Jesus is the Word, and that He FOUNDED the Church.barboza21;7935051:
For a while there you had me going. Your interpretation was Catholic up until you said the woman was the Church and then gave birth to the Church. Catholics would say Mary is the woman and gave birth to Jesus. Jesus is the Church.![]()

I know that Wikipedia is not to be considered (necessarily) an authority on matters religious, but the following quote from that source tends to disagree with you Coptic Christian, and would point out that, it is only the Catholic Church itself that sees itself as being âpre-denominationalâTheir is no Catholic denomination. All other Protestant beliefs incuding 7th day adventists denominated.![]()
"** The Roman Catholic Church is the largest denomination** with over 1.1 billion members, comprising over half of all Christians worldwide making it the largest denomination for any religion worldwide (**although the Church itself does not view itself as a denomination, but as pre-denominational [1])."** Wikipedia.
So then, how does Christmas differ from any other time in view of the following:I have a large range of experience with other protestant groups, such as Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Evangelicals, and Mormons and have never seen the evil Catholic Church wacky conspiracy theories to the extant that the SDAâs do it. My dad was raised as a Baptist, going to bible school and church in the Deep South and he said that never in his life did he hear or experience any of this type of rhetoric. So the âeveryone does itâ excuse doesnât really work when you are talking about prophesy DVDâs at Christmas.
The Origin of **Christ-mas(s)**
There is a Latin phrase that seems appropriate here: Absus non tollit usum.It is becoming increasingly apparent that many people are becoming âHoly-Day Christiansâ in a very self righteous way (present company excepted of course), with apparently very little regard for the Christian way of life.
Remember that Paul cautions the Colossians about the judaizers, âTherefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival,âŚâ Col.2:16
So, all that I am saying is, letâs not get all protective about it.

I really admire your use of that ancient language PR, but where did you get the idea that I am trying to get rid of a âholy-dayâ. Christmas is a public holiday in most Western countries, and itsâ âholinessâ is merely a convention. It was useful in times past as a means of introducing Jesus to little children, in fact I talk from personal experience because I was taken to a Catholic Church by my foster parents to see the baby Jesus and the Nativity scene and it had a profound effect on me back in the 60âs, but sadly it seems to have deteriorated into a commercial event. Me get rid of Christmas you say?" Not on my watch! âBah, Humbug!âThere is a Latin phrase that seems appropriate here: Absus non tollit usum.
âabuse does not take away use, i.e., is not an argument against correct utilityâ.
That millions of folks abuse the holy-day is not a reason to argue that it ought not exist at all.![]()

Point taken, sorry I misunderstood the intent of your post. But the fact still remains PR, Christmas is not strictly speaking a Holy Day, although it is useful in causing lapsed Christians, and non-Christians to reflect on things with (often) positive results. Keep up your Latin studies.Heh.Where did you get the idea that I think you were saying we need to get rid of Christmas?
I was simply offering a maxim that even if lots of folks abuse the use of something, the something still may have legitimate use.
CCâŚBTTG is SDA, and was banned several months ago.You might want to consider rereading the letter to the Romans. Paul makes the point to the Judaizing Christians that they are not descendants of Abraham rather descendant of Adam that they have inherited sin from. For by one man sin entered into the world. Jesus is the new adam.![]()
I lose more friends by them being banned and was wondering what happened to BTTG. Kind of creeped me out though, reminded me of BTK.CCâŚBTTG is SDA, and was banned several months ago.
Anyway, do you have the proclamation from one of the councils that settled the canon that one of the reasons for the canon was to have a set of readings for the Mass?
Council of Carthage 397[It has been decided] that nothing except the canonical Scriptures should be read in the church under the name of the Divine Scriptures. But the Canonical Scriptures are:

Why would Santa have to be taken out of the picture? Saints are pretty much a Catholic concept, no?No, I didnât know that. But, for that idea to succeed you would probably have to, " Get Santa out of Christmas". Lots of luck with that PR.

I stand corrected. Why would Santa have to be taken out of the picture? Saints are pretty much a Catholic concept, no?
(In case you didnât know, Santa is based upon St. Nicholas, a Catholic bishop.)
Yes, please read onâŚI was always curious about something. I think we all know that the SDA church believes that Saturday worship is mandated by the bible and Iâm only slightly less certain that we all know what you think of Sunday worship. But there is a church near me that gathers on Wednesdays - just Wednesdays, not other days - for worship. It seems, also, to be growing in popularity to gather on Wednesdays.
Since Wednesday is neither the Sabbath, nor the Sunday âmarkâ, does the SDA church have any teaching regarding it?
Secondly, no one here disputes that Saturday is the âtrue Sabbathâ.Yes, please read onâŚ
Saturday is the 7th day is the true Sabbath.
