That’s quite typical too. Keep 'em coming. You’re making an excellent case of fiction having equally bizarre basis in reality. 👍 (Oh and giving me material for my Snarky Feminist lines on the side.)

Oh and for the record, I like seeing how your logic classifies our Virgin Mary as a domesticated pet too. 👍
I really don’t understand how one would be able to classify Mary as “passive” or “obedient” without qualifying your descriptives. When God told Mary that she was to carry his son, she did not shyly bat away her eyes and say in a girlish whisper, “Umm, I’m sorry, but I have to consult Joseph on this one.” Mary was obedient to God as all of us should be, man or woman. I think where many (including myself) have a difficult time with your statements are when it seems as though your ideal is a lady who cannot make a decision for herself, who is not her own woman, and who is rather the stereotypical 1950s housewife with no ideas or will of her own.

I’m just your closet alpha wondering why he can’t even find just a single ingenue these days. 🤷
Could age have something to do with it? Sometimes teenage girls are willing to adopt that persona, but its not very practical as an adult. I wonder if you are simply aging out of the ingenue demographic?

OK, you’ve piqued my curiosity–why would a man have to hate himself to be a non-smoking vegan who believes in “family first?”

Wasn’t talking about the non-smoking, or the vegan. The pig is what really clinches it.
Note–and I should have made this clear in my original post, and I apologize for not doing so–I would also expect him to put HIS children before me.

Who says I was comparing myself to Joseph? I may not be God but aren’t you overlooking something about where Mary’s obedience to Him comes from?

Faith. Trust.

The fact that you deliberately misconstrue my type of woman like this only adds to the typicality of the reactions I expected.

There are many who will see the trust and faith of Mary as being in the same category of naivety, gullibility, and meekness.

I’m a man subject to numerous critiques, internal and external, healthy and unhealthy. Just for once, I want a person in my life who doesn’t demand that I raise my guard around her. Rather, I want a woman who can awaken my protective tendencies to defend her as much as I’ve constantly had to defend myself. I want someone who realizes how much I’m willing to throw away just to be her shield. And finally, I want her to interpret my intentions purely, to focus on the good of what I do for her. I want faith and trust in my devotion. I can only justify and adjust myself for so many other people. The rest of the women of the world will not suffer if just one of them will be content with me as her guardian.

I want a woman who is quiet because there is just no room for any more ego in my life. Everyone I know has taken up space for it with theirs. I’d rather sacrifice a part of my own for a woman who receives it like a saint of contentment than just another competitor/critic. Heck, just over breakfast, my father humorously suggested the same thing as we went on another loud discussion that happens often in my family.

That’s actually one of my fears. What I look for is a natural. I’m not looking for someone completely helpless. I just want a woman who stands out from the rest of my relationships as the one relationship where I hardly (if ever) open my loud mouth to argue.

Do you have something against celibate marriages, or non-celibate partners sleeping in separate beds? Or is sex the only thing you value in a partner?
Jala
You didn’t mention anything about a celibate marriage, or simply sleeping in separate beds because you both wanted to. You said he’d have to sleep elsewhere…***because of your pig. ***

And, I didn’t say anything about sex at all. I’m single and celibate and have always been, so your assumption appears to be based on the fact that what I said stung you a bit. In my opinion, it should; but then, you said you’re not looking for a partner anyway, and I’ll repeat: for the sake of the guy’s feelings, that’s probably a good thing.

Now, that’s one foot you’ve unceremoniously crammed into your mouth; gonna try for the other, or shall we let things lie?

 Either a 1950s housewife, or a cartoon character, one of the two.

 So you want a woman to be submissive to you like they would be to the Lord? No pressure on them, huh?
Why not? They should see how I have to submit myself to numerous other overlords. They should consider themselves lucky.

Want a list?
  • Dungeon Guildmaster (My CEO)
  • Vice-Commander (My supervisor)
  • The Queen of Cats (My soon-to-be other supervisor)
  • The Socialite Supreme (The office’s gay resident fashion consultant)
  • The Headmistress (My HR manager)
  • The Matriarch (My mother)
Don’t even get me started on my rivals, social circles, and siblings. Heck, even my housekeeper is a critic.

Wasn’t commenting on your bosses or your family. We all have those.

LOL, this thread is a trip, I thought I was picky but some of you all take the cake and ice-cream.😛

My little lame list as follows…

PROS:

Desire to get married
Religious
Understanding
Faithful
Honest
Compassionate
Realistic
Intelligent
Super Awesome Sense of Humor
Caring
Loving
Willing to adopt or have kids already
Strong Family Bond
Bonus if they are not a child of divorce

CONS:

Narrow Minded
Prejudice
Self Absorbed
Non-Book reader
Rude
Non-Religious
Self Righteous
Couch Potatoes/Computer addicts
Bossy
Winey
Liar
Clingy

My past life seems to be a major hurdle for me as most people tend to have a preconceived notion of me. I also tend to be liberal leaning in a few of my social beliefs (pro-choice and pro-gay marriage) which seems to be a major turn off for most Christians so I think it will be very hard for me to ever find a good hearted decent religious man as they tend to feel it’s their job to judge me and not G-ds. One reason I feel I would have better luck finding a nice Jewish man once I have converted. Catholic men tend to think it’s their job to judge me for my past. Major turn off for me just like my past is for them. 🤷

Well, here’s the thing. When you compare your future perfect person to Mary, you inevitably draw similarities with her counterpart, Joseph. So, the natural tendency (which was perhaps at best, merely implied) to compare between yourself and Joseph is set in place by your comments. It seems like the only zinger you have in your arsenal, so to speak, is to condescendingly speak of the typicality of other individuals’ reaction to your rather… startling list of green flags. There is a huge difference between saying that you want someone who’s more introverted or quiet versus you want someone who’s passive and obedient. Perhaps it was merely the wording choices here, but the latter is much more of a red flag to some (including myself) here.
