Perhaps those interested would like to see an official statement of belief regarding what we teach about
The Remnant Church, I think the article will explain a lot of questions. Our teaching is in line with the Bible re “antichrist”
which is plural in the Bible. We teach (officially) that “the man of sin” is not an individual, but a system of religious belief.
Our belief re the prophetic ministry of Ellen G White is no worse than how you view your Pope. It remains to be proven that we are wrong. While I cannot speak officially for the Church, I have tried to represent what I understand.
Everyone,
Please feel free to take a look at the links I’ve posted from
Post # 372 to this one.
Protestant101,
Do you believe Ellen G. White is a prophet?
Do you believe she has the message for the world before the second coming of Jesus?
Do you believe her visions and teachings are from God?
Do you believe what she says in “The Great Controversy” regarding the Catholic Church, the Papacy, the beast of Revelation, the seal of God and the mark of the beast?
And I now see from your statement above about it remaining to be proven that you are wrong that you don’t understand the dialog that has been attempted. I don’t know that anyone was trying to prove you wrong. In fact, you never said anything that needed to be proven wrong…you merely pointed out where we were wrong, and then when we asked you why, you accused us of attacking you. Let the record of the threads speak for themselves.
You asked what the Catholic Church teaches about protestants. Well, I have not yet come across any teachings by the Catholic Church about protestants. It has been my observation and experience that they pretty much are not concerned about protestants one way or the other. The priest I met with, I had to call. We met, he told me that I should pray about what to do and that he would be there if I needed him. I never heard from him again for about six months, and that is when I called him again. Had I met with a SDA or other fundamentalist, my phone would have been ringing each day with follow up.
So I don’t know what the Catholic Church teaches about protestants because I have not come across that. There may be some “teaching”, but I’m not aware of it, unless it has to do with ecumenism.
All I know is what I think about protestants, and that is only because I was one and am now going to be Catholic.
It was my observation as a SDA that there was always a lot of “proving” invloved with “Bible study”…thus the phrase proof texts. I can share with you why I now believe what I believe from the Bible, from the early Church fathers and doctors, and from the deposit of faith which has built up over 2000 years. I have been convinced, I believe, and in the end I only have myself to answer for. It does not bother me that other people believe different ways, because they must answer for themselves.
What does bother me is when a major point of one church is to put down another church in their evangelism, conversion, and membership building process.
And now I have answered another one of your questions about what Catholics believe about protestants. Will you go back and answer some of mine now?
Take care and God bless you 101!
