Well thats even more stupid is the whole fact that we are having to talk about idols in churches.

I quoted the Pope’s actual words, not what an author tells you he said

Even the author notes in his own article, that the Pope did not single out traditionalists in what he said.

Also has he posted anything on his twitter other than the pachamama stuff

Cause flipping through pdf of a bible is harder and slower for me than one in my hands.
The feel of the book helps me remember the page more than the number.

It was.

“Thou shall not Kill”
We have a reason to not kill someone by this method anymore therefor its immoral to kill.

Do I have to quote book and verse here too or are you good?

Also the name ‘de bufalo’ would like to be Italian sounding but is not correct. In Italy the last name would be spelled ‘del bufalo’ with an L. There is even a saint with that last name ‘Saint Gaspare Del Bufalo’.

If the other articles are commenting on the same words the Pope actually used, then it’s their own spin.

But the fact that Traditionalists can be stuck in their ego-identity attachment to he religion, was spoken about by St Augustine.

To paraphrase his words;

"There are those who finding themselves Catholic and finding the doctrines and rites attractive, remain so. However, they’ve yet to become Christians.
“Then there are those who found Christ and then became Catholic. They are the foundations of the Church.”

No slandering, just hypothesis. Hopefully surveillance cameras will clarify the mystery.

It looks like someone finally had enough. Sometimes drastic measures have to be taken when those in power cannot do the right thing. The Pope is the one that said to “make a mess” after all.
It looks to me as if someone stole something that didn’t belong to them.

The people who did this may think they were tossing out idols, but what they were certainly doing is tossing aside one of the Ten Commmandments.

Good ends are not reached by evil means, and theft is an evil. It should not be applauded, not even when it realizes an end that seems better on the surface. That is not who we are as a Church.

Speculative accusation of theft without evidence is slandering.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) aroosi:
The alternative is that the Vatican told someone to do it and then lied and said the removal caught on surveillance was a theft.

No one who did it claims they did it with permission of the Holy See. It was a brazen theft and destruction of property, let’s not sugarcoat it.

No, you may have missed it earlier in the thread, someone speculated that a particular person was involved in the theft.

Pachamama is the Andean pagan Goddess of fertility.
Quick question: the people who gifted the statues were Amazonian, right? Not Incan?

How are the statues then of an Incan deity? Incan (and broadly Andean) culture and mythology is/was vastly different from Amazonian culture and mythology.
