Dear Friends,

Despite three weeks of telephone calls, e-mails and bad press, the American Girl doll company has refused to sever their ties to the pro-abortion group Girls Incorporated. As Arlington Catholic Herald columnist Elizabeth Foss put it, American Girl seems to care more about plastic babies than real ones.

AMERICAN GIRL BOYCOTT BEGINS
**

Today, the Pro-Life Action League is calling for a boycott of American Girl through the 2005 Christmas shopping season. Read all about it here:

prolifeaction.org/#boycott

I invite you to join this boycott in a material way by signing the League’s American Girl Boycott Pledge, here:

ssl27.pair.com/ejs/plal/boycott.php

Our phone, e-mail and media campaign has already had an impact. American Girl has greatly downplayed their connection to Girls Inc. on their website. Girls Inc. has responded with a statement denouncing the “false, inflammatory” reports about their agenda.

SCHOOL CANCELS AMERICAN GIRL FUNDRAISER

Most recently, news outlets have reported that St. Luke School in
Brookfield, WI decided to cancel a lucrative American Girl fashion
show fundraiser because of the company’s links to abortion. The
pastor, Fr. Francis X. Malloy, commented, “Our integrity isn’t for
sale.”

Please consider sending a donation to St. Luke School to help make up for the money they sacrificed in order to maintain their integrity. You can send a check to:

St. Luke School
18000 W. Greenfield Ave.
Brookfield, WI 53045

Please let your friends and family know about the American Girl
boycott. Feel free to forward this message or send links to our home page.

Yours for Life,

Eric J. Scheidler

Sickening news, but not surprising. I have four daughters and we don’t have any American girl dolls any more. I gave them away. Now I’m so glad! Soon, they make a Breast Cancer Awareness/Susan Koman Foundation American Girl doll complete with matching rubber bracelet for your daughter, all while ignoring the established links between artificial hormones, abortion, and breast cancer. What I don’t understand is why consumers buy into all of this garbage? Why is it that everything at the grocery store has a breast cancer ribbon on it? Geeze Louis! Can’t a bag of M & Ms just be a bag of chocolate candy? Can’t a beautiful doll just be a doll?

There is a Christian company that makes beautiful toys for children (probably started with the homeschool market in mind) that are also historical in approach, very similar to American Girls, but not afraid to promote the values that formed these periods of time. They make very cool objects for boys as well. I don’t recall the name of the business… sorry.
The name of the company (if it is the one you are thinking of) is Vision Forum. It is wholesome. It is not Catholic though so some of thier books and things are definitely protestant. But I find the toys and such are great.
As for Breast Cancer… Lighten up. My mother just went through a mastectomy, chemo and radiation. She never used any form of birth control or had an abortion, had four children and a few miscarriages. She tried to nurse all of us and never could because she could not produce milk. So all this Breast Cancer Awareness stuff actually helps alot of women who did not “ask” for it.

Now we have US Senators voicing their opinions on the issue:

omaha.com/index.php?u_pg=1636&u_sid=2051896

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama can be reached at the following address and phone numbers.

Washington D.C. Office
713 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
(202) 224-2854
(202) 228-4260 fax
(202) 228-1404 TDD

The email address provided on his website obama.senate.gov/, puts you into a list of issues then into an online form. I chose the “Family, Health and Education” link to voice my concerns.

The protest isn’t over yet!

While in IL Obama voted AGAINST protecting babies who were already born. I believe the name of the act was the Illinois Born Infants Protection Act. Jill Stanek the first to dig up this information for IllinoisLeader.com. This position by Obama was the reason Dr. Alan Keyes came to IL from Washington DC to run against Obama. The liberal Chicago media made Obama their darling. Keyes entered the race to late to have a chance to beat the media’s darling, Obama. How Obama ever became a US Senator with this position is just beyond me to explain.

As a citizen of IL, I apologize to the rest of the U.S. for electing someone with such a position as a U.S. Senator.

As to the effect of the protest, we have just learned that American Girl is
now routing complaints from their 800 number to a pre-recorded message that
does not allow the caller to leave a message. We are now recommending that
people call their direct number - 608-836-4848.

If you plan to send a letter, it will be more likely to be read if you send it via certified mail to the head honchos of the company.

Oh heavens! Please don’t think that anyone was suggesting that women who use birth control or have had an abortion “asked for it” The concern here his that the Susan G. Komen foundation refuses to warn women of the risk factor posed by abortion. There is no good reason not to warn women of this listed with all the other risk factors. How can a woman make informed decisions without the information?

The Komen foundation has also donated money to planned parenthood, the provider of more aboritons per year in America than any other pro-abortion group.

There are breast cancer research and help organizations that are also pro life!

To do good, first do no evil. We need to support the prolife cancer research organizations. I feel badly for prolife women, suffering from cancer who think they have no alternative than to benefit or support a medical charity or research that is not prolife. Members here are just trying to inform the public so that people like you and your mother have the information and alternatives.

Rather then giving your money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation who supports Abortion by giving some of the funds to Planned Parenthood, you are better off doing this…

If you would like to donate funds to BOTH Research Breast Cancer & Protect Lives in the Womb, here are a few options…
  1. Polycarp Research Institute (www.polycarp.org)
  2. Breast Cancer Prevention Institute (www.bcpinstitute.org).
  3. AbortionBreastCancer.com www.AbortionBreastCancer.com or by mailing us at P.O. Box 152, Palos Heights, IL 60463
My youngest sister is a cancer survivor so this is a big deal to my family

MSNBC has the story about the Catholic school in Wisconsin, and it has a poll…please stop by here msnbc.msn.com/id/9875504/ and vote in the poll…let everyone know that we stand behind Fr. Malloy’s decision.

I listened to the Drew Mariani show today and learned more about the American Girl Doll Company. Here they are…

-Someone sent an email to Drew and stated they received a reply back from the AG Doll Company which stated AG target markets its dolls exclusively to small families with one or two kids. The dolls are marketed to be a “friend” for one of the kids.

The letter also stated AG does not market to Christian Families and Large Families. AG stated Large Families have other brothers and sisters to play with and therefore do not need to purchase their dolls as “friends”. AG stated larger families do not buy many excessories (clothing?) for the dolls like the small families do.

-We learned AG Doll Company has stronger ties to Planned Parenthood than initially anticipated.

-We learned the AG Doll Company may possibly have a contract with Girls Inc. at least until the end of this year.

Drew Mariani stated he will be calling up the executives from AG Doll Company to come on the show in the next couple of days so they can clarify and answer questions we have for them. Hopefully the executives from AG Doll Company will come out of hiding and face questions the “Culture of Life” would like to ask those representing the “Culture of Death”!!

Thank you for the information. I will definitely put my donations into these groups.

From YinYangMom…

Well I admire Obama…

his statement was a disappointment, certainly, but he is a man of such integrity I know this is just a matter of his not being properly informed.

I plan on writing a letter to him expressing my disappointment in his ‘dismissive’ statement and sending the 10cd set of Naked Without Shame with my letter…suggesting that before he dismiss our actions he take the time to educate himself on the position we are defending. Don’t know if he’ll actually listen to the cds, but I’ll certainly be praying he does.

Estesbob Reply…

I am sorry but i can not agree with you, There is nothing whatsoever to admire about a man who supports the killing of 1.3 million children a year. NOTHING! There is no more important right than the right to life-all other rights flow from this right. Osama supports the rights only of thosefortunate enougn to excape the womb-what is their to admire about that a man like that?

My Response…

Estesbob, I agree with you. I cannot respect anyone who believes its OK to murder 45 million unborn babies in the womb. I just cannot comprehend how anyone could respect an individual who thinks like this. What is even worse with Obama is he believes its OK to kill babies who are born and outside of the mothers womb as I stated in my post above. The only other person who comes to mind which thinks its OK to kill people outside the womb I can think of is – Adolph Hitler!

37% of the Black Population has been aborted but many of the so-called “black leaders” like Barach Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakan will not stand up to protect their own unborn black babies in the mother womb. What kind of leaders are they anyhow? I will NEVER call them leaders.

I do however highly respect Alveda King (Martin Luther King’s niece), Dr. Alan Keyes and Jesse Lee Peterson who consistently stand up for the unborn babies in the womb. These are REAL BLACK LEADERS!!

PROTEST - FRIDAY, NOV 25TH AT 10AM!

By now it’s no secret that there will be a major protest of American Girl Place at 111 Chicago Avenue (map) on Friday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. The Friday following Thanksgiving is traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year, and there will be many Mothers taking their daughters to American Girl Place to buy dolls and that is why the Pro-Life Action League is selecting this day for a protest of American Girl for linking up with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian Girls Inc.

PRO-LIFE GIRLS TO PICKET AMERICAN GIRL

Only women and girls and their American Girl dolls will protest in front of American Girl Place. Gentlemen are invited to come and take flyers to pass out on Michigan Ave. For this first protest we want only the ladies and girls and loving signs. There will be another demonstration on Dec. 3 for everybody.

We expect opposition and that is good. When the crazies come out to counter-demonstrate it makes us look even better than we ordinarily do. They have ugly signs, represent what we are demonstrating against, and use foul language. It is not hard to figure out who is who.

Does anyone know if the boycott has affected sales yet? I did a google search but the only thing I could come up with was that there has been no affect. (of course AG would say that)

profit reports, stock prices, anything of the sort to show that we might be having an effect?

Could anyone tell me how to find the links to Planned Parenthood, either on the American Girls site, or Girls Inc. Because I read about the program on Girls Inc, and over-all it sounded VERY pro-abstinence. And if you are going to be active it said it would teach the facts.

girlsinc-alameda.org/about/faqs.htm#freedom here is the link to the Girls Inc Website that talks about their views on reproductive freedom. If you want lots more info, scroll down the the very beginning of this thread where lots of links are given. They do not link specifically with Planned Parenthood, but “Girls Incorporated supports a woman’s freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade.”

Thanks for the update. I tried to google for any news but couldn’t find anything. Even the Prolife Action website wasn’t updated.
My prayers are with you in this work.

Arlene, thank you very much. I wanted to check on validity of claims before making a decision, but I couldn’t find anything on their site.

another thing that you can specifically find on the Girls Inc site (if you really dig and follow links) is that they are very active in political lobbying. There was a bill up to vote on about funding Abstinence Only programs, and Girls Inc lobbied against it.

I just though I would share that I purchased a American Girl Knock off so I would not support the Girls Inc. One of my Best girl firends says I should write to the American Girl Company to let them know I did that for my daughter this year.
