Bobby A. Greene:
People bribe restaurant inspectors. Solve that! Get rid of health standards in restaurants. The racketeers have been bribing judges since, oh, ancient Greece, probably ancient Babylon. Better make organized crime legal. You do see where you’re going, don’t you? You don’t get back into Eden by convincing God to legalize the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Our laws are intended to help protect the public from at least some of the natural consequences of the most dangerous and tempting sins.
You can’t give into despair and then just pretend that you haven’t given in. If you’re failing, look to see how you might improve your chances of success. In the meantime, you’re bound to remain faithful and to do the best you can.
Is drug dealing in law school our main problem here? Really? And do we really want to make vice so readily available that no one is going to bribe the judges or the police in order to get away with it?How does one stop law enforcement from dealing drugs? How does one stop law students from dealing Coke to pay for law school? How does one stop Judges from accepting cash bribe money from their drug dealing defendants?
Simply by legalizing it!
