How about no. Your only arguement, it seems, is to downgrade to that race card. You pointed out the obvious: most of America is made up of descendants of immigrants. So what’s your point?
What’s yours? That people use an argument that is true?

Mine is that descendants of immigrants are insulting the memory of people trying to make a better life by themselves by trying to shoot down legislation that would make it easier for people to make a better life for themselves. These illiegal immigrants are an issue only as long as they are illegal. True Christians would never deny someone, let alone millions, the use of their home or land if it means helping them escape from abject poverty and death.

We are not insulting anyone; we’re trying to protect this country by keeping the infrastructure intact, keeping criminals and terrorists out, and in general control the number of people coming in every year.

Whatever it is you’re trying to do, all your succeeding in doing is denying a better life to people who come from living conditions so horrid that most Americans have never experienced anything even close. Since these people end up working jobs you wouldn’t touch, I don’t know what it is you think you’re protecting. And it’s still better than what they leave behind. You want to be a street-cleaner in the bad parts of major cities or work in the sewers for minimum wage? Somehow I can’t picture any of you doing that.

You go on and on about terrorism and security. What a selfish load, I say. These people deal with worse terror and violence every day where they come from than you will ever even see on TV. And yet you want to deny them refuge in a country that is supposed to be for the free and the brave. Real brave, refusing people entry from Hell on earth because you’re afraid for yourself. Jesus would love that. And by love I mean He would wonder just what in the name of God you’re thinking. Protect yourselves at the expense of others who’ve done nothing wrong, on the off chance that one in a million of them might harbor hateful ideas. Quite frankly, I think a few people on the kick immigrants out side of this debate need to listen to my favorite hymn, Lord of the Dance, a few times.

“I danced for the scribes and the pharisees, but they would not dance and they wouldn’t follow me. I danced for the fishermen, for James and for John, they came with me and the dance went on.”

He danced for people who weren’t about to listen. He did it anyway because even though they hated Him, He didn’t hate them and He didn’t reject them. And even when they rejected Him, He did not smite them, He did not force them to leave, He did not huddle away in the safety of His home and keep them at arm’s length.

Jesus danced for everyone. By wanting to refuse these people a better life, you’re all dancing only for yourselves.

That’s all I’ve got to say on the subject. You do your thing. I’ll do what Jesus would have done.

Why don’t you go and so it then since you think no other Americans will?

You are entitled to say whatever you want, but those are very important factors people want to ignore.

I have no doubt it is much better here than where they come from, but unless we have some control, this country will follow suite. You grant 11 mil. illegal immigrants amnesty, you’ll have double that in 10 years pressing the government for their amnesty.

Quite frankly, it seems you only choose to stick to the emotional side of the issue, not the practical.

Ah, so you are higher and mightier than the rest of us.

Give me a break, there are plenty of Americans willing to do that work as long as it pays a livable wage.
uh huh, what would constitute a liveable wage? Dont get me wrong, it is sick and wrong for anyone to get paid crumbs to the dollar when doing some of the toughest work the body requires. BUT This country has always and will always rely on those who dont demand much to do the hard work (right or wrong). Labor law movements are not new and the USA had been mining other countries to bring workers to do the “those” jobs since early 1900’s. You are trully fooling yourself if you think your average American will care to touch “those” jobs.
