There were hardening indications also on Monday that the 2020-21 college football season will not take place – at least according to its traditional fall calendar. Leaders from the top five conferences in college sports have discussed calling off the season and other fall sports, according to reports from multiple sports news outlets including ESPN, Sports Illustrated and CBS. No decision has so far been reached.

But the loss of big-time college football would deal another devastating blow to Trump’s claims that regular life is returning or that the pandemic is relenting.

This is one of the few issues I side with Trump on. But for different reasons. I love College Football and I am a “Season Ticket Holder” at the 40 yard line. Got on the waiting list 20 years ago and waited 15 years.
 
MWC pulled the plug earlier today and MAC pulled the plug during the weekend.

PAC-12 is meeting today and will be voting. It is speculated they will follow suit.

Power 5 schools - they are safe or should be
Others - could be up in the air.
I know my school plays 3 others every year and pays those schools One million each for the privilege of playing us. That helps tremendously with their scholarship programs.
 
Isnt’t that we h truth.! So many of these assertions by the left are bordering on absolute absurdity.

Off topic, but something I associate with Football now.

If the national anthem is playing, and there is an audience member that is not from the USA, what should that person be doing during the anthem?

Go to the concession stand and avoid getting cast into one group or the other

There is not a way to be present and respectfully not participate without it being a political statement? That’s disappointing.

Well, I have not attended a sporting event since February due to COVID, so I have not seen anything first hand. I plan to stand for the national anthem, simply because for me its a sign of respect for the people who fought for our country.

Before the current mess, I believe the default for a non-citizen would be to stand. If I were in another country and their national anthem is playing, I would stand.

Now they will have to attend classes.

The bigger question is how will Alabama pay Nick Saban? His base pay is $7.5 million.

I went to a baseball game last year. There were some in the audience that took a knee. Dont know if anyone cared or not. I witnessed no responses to it. A couple of guys speaking Japanese see came in afterwards and I wondered what they would have done. I then wondered what type of behaviour might be accepted in other areas; the murals of Kaepernick near by in the city just give me the impression that taking the knee is more acceptable here. But I dont thing all places would be the same.

That is a drop in the bucket. The Sky Box seats alone bring in a whopping 40 million each year.

I once inquired about season tickets for one of the Sky Boxes. There is a 20k annual fee just to be on the waiting list for a Skybox in the End Zone. And that was 20 years ago when I inquired. I don’t want to think of the fee now.
