I did not ask for advice on how to make people conform to my views, I asked for advice on how to control my anger. And your not helping at all. Did you even read my original post? Also I do not consider the post very “lengthy”. I also said the modesty standards were set up in the 30s i did not say i wanted everybody to be in 30s garb. Please read my original post before replying, replying when you dont know what the OP said is very frustrating.
I think when you’re about to be angry, pray in your heart ask the Lord to calm you down.

Although there are times you need to show your anger, for a really serious matter. For example your children are being lazy of going to school and prefer to play video games at home. 😃

That would make me less angry than if they had to go to school with a bunch of un chaste, immodest bad examples…

Ahahah, you’re right. I remember being a kid who is hard to stand her ground, that I prefer to be alone & avoid too many friends or too much conversation.

I guess sometimes we worry too much. Pray a lot about our worries and give them to our Lord is the best I think and speak when you feel it’s really important.

And your trying to spread the sad idea that you cant change the world, and everything should be OK and funny and we should have no shame. Wow. And Im not a parent.
No, I’m suggesting you will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Catholics should not be looking for information from the stars.

We have a treasure in our Catholic faith and all its many helps, and look to the Lord in prayer.

Peace,

Dorothy
omg, tell that to the Magi, who followed a star. In the SKY.

That was in Sacred Scripture and in God’s plan. The wise men, representing other cultures who come seeking the Truth.

After Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension, we have everything He gave us (sacraments), and taught us (prayer) that we need.

Peace,

Dorothy

So, to you, the Cardinal Grand Cross is NOT God’s plan, or is not God’s message to people?

Do you know, and do you realize, that also in April, just before the Cardinal Grand Cross, we had the first of four Blood Moons? Total lunar eclipse, where the Moon appears red, thus its name … Blood Moon.

First of four, and it is a rare event. The next one is in October, then we have two more next year.

Yeah, just ignore the signs because they’re too scary. 👍

Astronomy is fascinating, God’s glorious creation to see!

There are signs that are interior. I am not ignoring exhortations, or living in a make-believe world.
The Lord is our Shepherd, by clinging to Him I will not be afraid.

So I believe that we should not change with the culture, and we need radical modesty, purity, liberty, and mutual support between families in small christian communities in this world. But many of my friends and family, all devout Christians or Catholics, think im going a little too far when i say that modesty standards from pope pius 11 should be followed today. They say, yeah but that was the 30s. They try to rationalize that we should go along with the current political atmosphere, social culture, and it makes me angry. I know that i should not get angry, but it makes me angry that people think that we should go along with the current fashions in anything simple because those are the modern things. I want revolution, they call me extreme. What should i do to push for change while not getting angry at those who disagree?
I would first identify if it is truly anger you are feeling and not a close cousin like self-righteousness. If it is anger, anger can be righteous and well motivated. God is angered by sin, for instance, so is the reason for your anger because you see vice and not virtue?

If you have determined that your anger is because of the vice in the world, (such as immodesty) then normally a sadness is experienced as well - that those who should be living in virtue and following Christ, are not and therefore they are in danger. This would be an example of true charity - wanting the very best for your neighbor and pointing the way to a godly life.

I believe many Christians are “angry” when they see sin and vice prosper and goodness and morality condemned. I know I am. Many of us are disgusted and sick over the culture and the political scene in today’s world. If we could turn the energy of our anger toward something useful to be used by God (such as redemptive suffering) then we would not be in danger of sinning because of our anger.

The best way to make your point is to live what you speak about and be genuinely happy while doing it. You better believe people will notice you and will no doubt wonder why it is you’re so happy. Avoid being preachy as that turns a lot of people off. And as another person stated, if they’ve made.up their minds arguing with them isnt going to help. Be prepared to dust off your sandals with that type!

isaacalsop,

In my opinion, anger is a form of trouble with letting go of a particular concern that is troubling you. Imagine how you would have felt if you came home to your father’s house and saw it turned into a den of thieves and iniquity. Jesus allowed the temple’s destruction. In a way, the temple was “liable to Gehenna”, that garbage dump outside Jerusalem. Do we know if Jesus was angry?

The parable of the weeds, in which Jesus recognizes a universal enemy, advises us to wait till the end before pulling out the weeds. For me the question of anger is not if it is justified – for that entirely depends of who is judging–but on how to cope with it. Matthew 18:17
The whole world a tax collector! Why not?

What happens to you when you read it? No doubt you hear and read it often.

Serious question.
I’ll answer this one. I cringe. And I believe the point of the poster who commented was that however you encounter it…it is still a blasphemy.

I’m pretty sure it’s common American English. Somebody should start a thread though, for discussion about it.

Um…no. and omg is also just lazy. Not common english. By the way the 10 commandments came out way before english. And they say not to use the lord’s name in vain. That should be obvious. And yes, I cringe. I take it as an insult the way you used it, like saying omg why dont you know this, your so dumb, omg im so right your so wrong, omg omg omg. bad bad bad. lord forgive america for this blasphemy that people think is “common language”

Well this is a good test for you then, because you’re angry at the world and this is one of those aspects of life that you do not approve of, which could prompt your anger.

History on the presumed origin of ‘omg’ The First Use of OMG Was in a 1917 Letter to Winston Churchill

Considered to be ubiquitous by some, evil or profane by others.

But, my use of ‘omg’ in this thread was in response to this: “Catholics should not be looking for information from the stars.”

My use of ‘omg’ is the equivalent of this guy:

And here’s why:
Jesus said to His disciples:
Awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky… There will
be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay,
perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
People will die of fright
in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Luke 21:11, 25-26
I hope I’ve clarified it for you, so that you understand.
