So you approve or dissaprove of the conditions in the video??? You seem to be saying that you only do a mild removal of the TIP of the bird’s beak–and only if that bird is a problem. What about the situation that this video depicts?? What are your feelings on that?? You are defending*** your ***experience. You are avoiding addressing the animals in the VIDEO who receive treatment, not at ***your ***hands but the hands of other farmers (who have larger operations than you).
I don’t know which video you are speaking of but imagine it shows a large scale operation & more of the beak being removed than necessary. If it’s PETA produced it probably shows all sorts of stuff gone wrong by low paid employees that probably hate the sight or sound of chickens by the end of the day.
My feelings would be the poultry producers may be taking off more beak than needed which causes more stress & could impact egg production. So, if they are debeaking the wrong way they’re really hurting themselves in the long run.
I’m not avoiding anything.Farming techniques can always be improved upon.Large or small scale.I’m more concerned about the farmer & providing food for folks.
I know small -scale farmers who remove way too much of the lambs’ tails which can cause lambing issues in the future. They do it because they think it makes the animal look better at shows.Large scale producers might have more sense because the number of prolapse incidents would multiply & affect profits.

As someone with limited time I’ll leave it to others to find the reference to St Peter’s vision. The point was he was shown by God that all foods were OK to eat under the New Covenant. As Christians, that means us.Seems simple enough.
We can see that you do have limited time. When you have more time and would like to be more thorough we would love to have you back!!! Please bring the Biblical quotes with you when you do come back. We would all appreciate. I’m sure that a lot of other folks here also have limited time. Again, the Bible has a lot of great wisdom and certainly has a place in this discussion. It’s hard to incorporate it in the discussion without copies of the quotations for everyone, and asking all other posters to look it up for themselves is disrespectful of the other posters time, so EVERYONE, not just CRACKER MOM, please be considerate to your fellow posters!!! See you when you have more time Cracker Mom!!!

There is a Dr. on Fox and Friends every Sunday. Today he actually talked about eating meat. He said he eats red meat once or twice a week. The rest of the time he is eating chicken, turkey or fish. He actually recomended eating as much white meat and fish as possible. There is a girl in a class I’m taking, she is a strict vegan and holds vegan cooking classes. I feel sorry for her, she looks extremely depressed and malnurished.
i’ve always found vegans to be very irritable… and not very nice, generally speaking…

you just can’t go without complete animal protein for very long (maybe a week?) without it affecting you… Our brains are made up of fat/protein… our whole body is… so it makes sense we should replenish our protein with … that which is most like us…

(i just know someone is going to bring up the issue of canibalism… [sigh])…

:banghead: Crack M: You have posted a zillion (I know a slight exaggeration) responses in this thread and don’t know what video I am talking about!!! Go to the 1st and OPENING POST–if you have time.

This most recent posting of yours–is the best and most honest so far–I applaud you. Most of your other resonses are defiant and defensive–I imagine because you somehow feel under attack. I am sorry that you feel that way–and I for one would like to have honest dialog between ALL the posters here–WE MAY ALL have differing opinions and differing diets–and each of our vantage points brings valuable things to the table. And I would like to include Biblical references–and it would be great if when mentioning a Biblical reference, the poster included a copy of it FOR EVERYONE.

, because they chew the cud but do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you. 8And the pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you.
i dont’ think still applies… People in Okinawa eat a lot of fatty pork on a daily basis and they live longer than anyone on the planet… (more people over age 100 there than anywhere else).
In the time that the Bible was written, animals were killed and eaten, but not in the quantities that we see today. Meat eating in Biblical times was often reserved for special occassions. The way that we eat meat today is very different, and in very different quantities than in Biblical times. Animals are also not raised or killed in the same manner.
So please, anyone who has a Biblical quote to add, please post that quote to make the discussions easier.
Jesus obviously didn’t think eating pig was a big deal or he would have made sure the Apostles added it to scripture… or that they included it in their Chruch services… or both…

in fact, when someone asked Jesus about eating (something?) he said that it is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean, not what goes in… and paranthetically, he is said to have declared all foods clean.

almost NO animal is a complete herbivore…

even birds eat meat… i’m sure we’ve all seen ravens on the road eating roadkil.

giraffes even eat insects that are on the leaves of the trees… and worms, etc…

ants eat meat…

everything eats meat…

fatty pork… yum!! 🙂

I SEE THAT YOU ARE DISTRACTED!!! And are aching to bring up the issue of canibalism. You’re not one of those serial killers are you??? I haven’t eaten animal protein in decades, and I am not irritable. I’d love to discuss canibalism with you–what did you have in mind??? I’m not giving you my real legal name or address though.

By the way, how do the cows that we eat get their protein fix??? Are their brains made up of fat/protein too?? If we should replenish our protein with that which is most like us, then why do we eat cows or pigs or chickens?? We don’t have much in common with them. We are most closely related to the primate group of animals.

where do you get this stuff? i’d really appreciate if you could cite some sources instead of just saying that you’ve “studied something extensively.” if you have studied it, then surely there is some reference material available we can look at.

as an example, let’s look at the “complete protein” issue from a reliable source:

nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002467.htm

cows eat insects and worms in the grass… probably baby mice as well…

canibilism… People just think that kind of thing when you say “eat that which is most like us”…

pigs bodies are most like human bodies… so again… i say:

**FATTY PORK!! Yum!!! **

🙂

Hi Marfran!👋
Are we having fun, yet?
It is amazing just how ignorant people choose to remain. You can give them facts until you are blue in the face and they will still come up with these fairy tales and blatant inflammatory comments. Then deny it when you point it out. Try the ignore function on your user control panel for these trolls. It helps to keep the blood pressure down. That is what I do. That way I only have to read posts from intelligent people!👍

what does this have to do with factory farming?

Good grief.Must one’s comments be psychoanalyzed for having a differing opinion, diet, or actual farming experience? So far you’ve judged the content of my posts to be defiant, defensive & disrespectful.
It also took all of 5 seconds to locate the reference to St.Peter’s vision on the rooftop thru’ Google.(Acts 10;9-16…)
Back to work.

:wave:HI,Cathy!
Why would someone is is trying to start a fight go and actually research stuff when they could just make stuff up to make everyone mad?
(I love this ignore function!)👍
But, I’m not ignoring you!😉

I DON"T LIKE THE POLL–because it is not reflective of the topic of discussion. The poll should be: After viewing the video: Animals You Eat: Bad Meat: 1) Do you plan to do/or are already doing something to help improve this situation; 2) Think this situation does not exist, 3) Think this situation may exist but does not affect you or your choices, 4) Realize that this situation does exist but you are powerless to affect it, or 5) Was completely taken by surprise by the video and would like to investigate the topic more.
