Thank you for the wonderful reflection. Indeed, it is our understanding that changes, that of our merciful and loving God. My prayers that we one day spend eternity with Him in paradise.

Here is what Archbishop Sheen had to say about the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

“What the Ascension was to our Lord, that the Assumption is to our Lady. Certainly she, the new Garden of Paradise, in which grew the Lily of divine sinlessness and the red Rose of the Church, should not be delivered over and forgotten by the heavenly Gardener. She, in whose womb was celebrated the nuptials of eternity and time is more of eternity than time. If husband and wife in marriage are made two in one flesh, then shall not she who is the new Eve of the new Adam, be not two in one spirit with Him? As Christ ascended into heaven to the unity of the divine nature, so Mary is assumed into heaven in the unity of Christ’s human nature. Her mystical flight is the event to which our whole generation moves. Our age of carnalities, which loves the body beautiful is lifted out of its despair by the Assumption, to honor a body that is beautiful because it is a temple of God, a gate through which the Word of heaven passed to earth, a Tower of Ivory up which climbed divine Love to kiss upon the lips of His Mother a mystic rose.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (The Fifteen Mysteries)

A blessed Solemnity of Assumption for you as well.

In case anyone is counting this thread is now two years four months and two days old. I could be wrong math is not my strong point.

Your math is correct. The challenge on the old CAF 5 year anniversary thread was to post only enough that the thread didn’t get closed for lack of activity while also limiting the posting so that the thread would last five years, within the old 1000 post per thread max limit. This thread is averaging 378 posts per year, so as long as we post frequently enough it could theoretically last 26 years.

Concluding prayer from Morning Liturgy:

O God,
who cause the minds of the faithful
to unite in a single purpose,
grant your people to love what you command
and to desire what you promise, that,
amid the uncertainties of this world,
our hearts may be fixed on that place
where true gladness is found.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
— Amen.

Five days already?
Today I went to confession. It is a unique place as the Church is in a mall. Not a Church a chapel. When I arrived the women asked if I was there for confession? I asked how did she know and she told me that they are not allowed have mass there yet. All they have is confession. I had left my family in the car to wait for me. Couldn’t talk them in to going with me. They prefer are own parish. When I got to the car my husband said to my sons. She must have been real bad since it took so long. I informed them that I had to wait in line ( not a real line as there were chairs that were properly distanced). Anyway that was my experience today.

Our parish priest has a brother-in-law that helped produce this movie. It is well done and well worth the time it took to see it. Traveling time was a total of four hours.

“And we, too, being called by His will to Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Clement of Rome, [The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians]

“America’s greatest enemy is not from without, but from within, and that enemy is hate: hatred of races, peoples, classes and religions. If America ever dies, it will be not through conquest but suicide.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Preface to Religion)

“The most honest of those who appear on radio or television, as regards to their material, are the comedians. At the end of every program, regardless of who the comedian is, there will always be found listed the names of his writers. The comedians admit, though they speak the humorous lines, that they actually are indebted to others for putting them in their mouths. One never sees on a television screen at the end of a program given by a politician the names of the one who wrote his speech. Here we pay tribute to the four writers who have given us the greatest inspiration: 1. A Collector of internal revenue 2. A reporter 3. A physician 4. An official in a fishing company. These four writers are perhaps better known as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Though none of them has written the material that is used in our books, they nevertheless have given us the philosophy and theology behind all that we write.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Thinking Life Through)

Me too!
At mass today, our pastor spoke of St Therese of the Little Flower. Her feast day is today. I also heard it on Seize the Day. What my pastor said struck a note. How I understood what he said is the St. Therese put into practice the greatest gift of love. Show love to others and this is what led her to a holy life and why many now honor her.
This is a poor rendition of what he said but it struck me to put into practice of seeing each day others in love and act in love in service to others.

The OP @dshix has not posted since April and the last seen May 9. I hope everything is all right.

“We do not see God, because we are so busy looking at things or at ourselves. We must seek the Spirit of the Lord, because without His Spirit there is no holiness, there is no happiness, there is no joy, there is no contentment, there is no realization of a mission in life. There is only emptiness and confusion.”

We had a rosary for life as Church in the parking lot. We had one yesterday but I forgot to go.

The closing prayer from Evening Liturgy:

Lord,
watch over us by day and by night.
In the midst of life’s countless changes
strengthen us with your never-changing love.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

All Saints Day

Solemnity

“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are,” (1 John 3:1). [1][2]

Today is the Solemnity of All Saints, a holy day of obligation. The Church honors all those who are with God, the innumerable men and women who chose fidelity to Christ. As we seek to implement the new evangelization, we can look to the saints as an example of evangelical zeal and Christian witness. According to a recent article published by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, ten saints who were particularly great evangelizers include; St.’s Peter and Paul, St. Jerome, St. Augustine, St. Patrick, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, St. Juan Diego, St. Daniel

I’m back from my self-imposed exile, at least for a few minutes. It’s hard to be Catholic right now. Apparently I’m too liberal to be a real Catholic.

Hey Gertabelle,
how is distance education in music working out?
