But you’re wrong. In todays world metal health issues are not frowned up. Most people are encouraged to seek help. I work for very large corporations and every single one of them have had ways to get metal help. Every single one of the them for the past 30 years. Every single health care plan that my family has belong to for the past 30 years has had help for mental health. You think mental health issues are “stigmatized” because not everyone see them the way you see them. My belief is simple, if you have an issue get help. If you are unwilling to get help then all the prayers in the world won’t help. Just complaining about your depression and doing nothing about it won’t solve anything. It is like a drunk, until you’re willing to take the first step you’re not going to improve. Mental health is no different than any other disease, if you ignore it, it may very well kill you. The problem is that too many people want to act as if mental illness is a special type of disease and it isn’t. Go to your doctors and get help.

The information is out there. I’m not your teacher or your mom. If you want to learn, go learn. If not, no need to comment and bait.

But its ok for you to comment. Through out this discussion you have made at least 3 logical fallacies. At least when I do it I point it out.

ust complaining about your depression and doing nothing about it won’t solve anything.
You’re assuming people who commit suicide have been “doing nothing about it.” You don’t know these people, and you don’t know what they’ve tried or haven’t tried.

Yes, your belief is simple.

You clearly do not understand what it’s like to be in the throes of depression and mental illness. It can render you incapable of seeking out help. .

That is my point. The argument that mental health is still too stigmatized leads to people not seeking help wasn’t a factor. I am willing to bet that bourdain was seeking help and we know spade was seeking help. We are going to find at sometime in the future that most mental illness will come down to chemical and physical issue. It may take another 100 years or more, but it will be solved thru fixing those issues.

I read today that Kate Spade was depressed, knew it, and refused to seek help because she didn’t want the any possible stigma to hurt her label. That made me sad.

What make you think I haven’t seen to see a dr for depression or any other mental issues? It doesn’t matter if youre drunk or mentally impaired, that person still has to be willing to seek help. If you have a mental issue you can pray 24 hours a day 7 days a week and God isn’t going to fix you until you get off your knees and seek help.

First Kate Spade and now Anthony Bourdain. Goes to show you that money and fame are not everything.

May The Lord have mercy on their souls. Amen.

Crazy… she sold her company ~10 years ago. She’s hasn’t been directly involved with it for so long. She even changed her last name. Sad. 😦
