Really? Naomi Klein? Yet they didnt allow a scientist explaining that heating of the earth has to do with solar activity.

How about the Vatican host Johan Norberg? They need to put things into perspective. He has a great docmentary out called “Power to the People” about energy.

The Vatican added yet another strange bedfellow to its expanding ecological alliance Wednesday, hosting anti-capitalist eco-crusader Naomi Klein at a conference on saving the planet.

Pope Francis probably believes that he is engaging in outreach to non-Christians by establishing these alliances.

Thats what i keep thinking too, but at some point… he has to bring Catholics home. I mean, hes very fast and vocal to speak about recent events. Yet, he hasnt said a word about gay marriage in the US. Why? Is it because he will lose “the worlds” positive view?

Still, why would you deny scientists that have different theories? washingtonpost.com/world/europe/how-climate-change-doubters-lost-a-papal-fight/2015/06/20/86af3182-15ce-11e5-8457-4b431bf7ed4c_story.html

Its not just him, there are many well respected scientists that believe man made global warming is a corrupt billiondollar business. here is a list, with their credentials, of skeptic scientists. heartland.org/sites/default/files/crisis_or_delusion.pdf

VATICAN CITY (AP) – The Vatican added yet another strange bedfellow to its expanding ecological alliance Wednesday, hosting anti-capitalist eco-crusader Naomi Klein at a conference on saving the planet.

Klein, author of “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate,” acknowledged Wednesday that, “as a secular Jewish feminist,” she never expected to be invited to the Vatican.

But she told a Vatican news conference that Pope Francis’ recent encyclical on the environment and the global economic system that is threatening it spoke to her. She said the manifesto should inspire those who use the Bible to defend human domination of nature and deny climate change to change their ways.

“Given the attacks that are coming from the Republican party around this and also the fossil fuel interests in the United States, it was a particularly courageous decision to invite me here,” she said. “I think it indicates that the Holy See is not being intimidated, and knows that when you say powerful truths, you make some powerful enemies and that’s part of what this is about.”

The Vatican has come under fire from conservative Catholics for hosting the U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon and economist Jeffrey Sachs at another climate conference, given their support for universal access to contraception.

Ever read any of Ms. Klein’s books? Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism, in particular, is worth a look.
Klein is as ignorant of Friedman as she is to the fact that the tail of whom she tied the can to was her own. The book is so misguided that it’s not even wrong, but a delusion.

I wish the Pope would invite Father Sirico of the Acton Institute (look it up if you aren’t familiar, its well worth the effort…)

The book is not taken seriously by any influential economist. She basically sold that book because it had Friedmans name on it.

Johan Norberg does a great rebutal! youtube.com/watch?v=tqLAYg6pDGg

I will check out Father Sirico!

That’s just great. I have more and more appreciation for the Pope every day. Love “This Changes Everything.” She is one mom who actually is concerned about her children. So refreshing, compared to all those who would eat, drink, and be merry, and not care about leaving a life-hospitable world for their kids.

I doubt that. Fr. Sirico & his Acton Institute are heavily funded by fossil fuels and into climate change denial.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe he’s meeting with the left because the right already rejected him? You have Rush Limbaugh calling him a Marxist (which is his way of pretty much saying “evil”), one of the talking heads at Fox News saying he’s the most “dangerous man in the earth”, and I’m sure if I dug I could find a lot more.

Keep digging, maybe you’ll find a pony.

Concerned about her children yet she favors abortion and same sex marriage? Not to mention marxist friendly, you know, that regime that restricted, killed and persecuted Catholics, not to mention they almost assasinated one of our Saint Popes.

A much better energy efficiency expert is Amory Lovins and the Rocky Mountain Institute.

We need to start thinking things like “negawatts,” and at the least plucking the “low hanging fruits” of cost effective energy reduction strategies – saving us money while saving the earth – which could reduce the energy requirements in a country like the U.S. by 50 to 75%, without lowering productivity or living standards. At the point it would be easy to transition to mainly solar and wind power, and other alt energy sources.

Right now our electricity is 40% solar and 60% wind, and we drive our Chevy Volt on that. All these things are saving us money…which is good bec we are retiring now.

I have a friend who is one of the most loving mothers I’ve ever met. Her daughter is her entire world and if there’s one thing that upsets her is that both she and her husband have to work in order to provide for the family. She supports same-sex marriage.

Likewise, I’ve met people who supported where pro-choice but would have never had an abortion themselves or even suggest it to other people. They just believe, that a person has a right to choose.

As for Marxism… You realize that a lot of atheists point things like the Inquisitions, the Crusades, various witch hunts, the KKK, and countless other markings of on Christianity’s integrity why religion is bad, right? It’s wrong when they do it and its wrong when you make everyone with leftist political ideals (which aren’t always Marxist) out to be some evil person either.

This is why the world is so messed up. Rather than speak to our enemies, we want to demonize them.

I wonder how much good fruit Pope Francis expects to find coming from such rotten trees.
