I live near the mexican border and in our town there is one small Catholic parrish and about six latino pentecostal churches. Including a big Filadephia Assemblea de Dios. They make quite a noise.

I think it a shame that so many Latinos/as leave the church, so often they fall in with emotionalistic sensationalistic pentecostal sects with ill educated preachers.

That seems to be the case here.
what happens is that ,once undocumented aliens cross the border.they are being welcomed by non catholic pastors.these pastors offer them place to live and find them work.then, step by step ,brainwashing against the cc is initiated and eventually these folks convert and pay the 10% tithe, whcih makes the pastors happy,as they can afford to have much better lifestyle than their flock. i once saw a hispanic pastor and his wife laden w/ jewelries and a member of his church.the latter was obviously poor ,as he was struggling to count his money to pay for the entire tab.many of these pastors are opportunists.they used the bible ,as their business tools to fool gullible and uncatechized or poorly catechized catholics.their churches are located along commercial establsihments sandwiched by a dollar store or a cantina.i have seen numerous of them,in the heavily hispanic populated area.

I watched their testimonies as well. And seems like they are not the only people who experienced heaven and hell. See links below for other heaven/hell experiences:

Many Christians have experienced heaven and hell, and their testimonies are detailed and consistent. God allowed them to experience heaven and hell in order to warn people on what lies ahead. And tell people on what is true and what is false.

John 3 - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Exodus 20 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

IMHO - As Christians, reading the bible is a MUST. And should NOT be dependent on what our Pastors or Priests are preaching in order to avoid deception or false belief. Just like, when we were still in school, ONLY those who studied their books and notes can identify whether their teachers/ professors are making mistakes in his/her discussions.

This is what the website says “Jesus” said to the girl, when she asked why Pope John Paul II was in hell. Emphasis is mine.

So… this raises the question: what was the total papal salary he had received? And the answer is a whopping $140 dollars or so. Yes…he loved money so much he got less than what I can make in a week in a 30 year reign.

With respect, this “vision” is simply a lie (whether or not a deliberate lie I do not know).
Something tells me that it’s deliberate. It’s because of the typical anti-Catholic garbage.

to not take a priest at their word about the bible,IMHO is absolutely diabolical…

if you don’t believe what he says then you don’t believe what Jesus says,so what’s the point in reading the bible.

are you a protestant btw??

We know that already
Exodus 20 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

We know that already to. Catholics don’t worship statues. They remind us of Jesus and Mary.

Sorry, I deleted my post because I thought his post was deleted. But yes, you are absolutely right.

Not to mention…

[BIBLEDRB]Numbers 21:8-9][/BIBLEDRB]

The Bible clearly shows not all images are “graven images.” They’re only idols if you worship them.

Catholics agree that understanding scripture is a must. No conflict here. At Mass, we hear four readings from the bible on Sunday. Are we as individuals capable of understanding the all Truth in scripture? What does the bible say about where the Truth resides?

1 Timothy 3:15
But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth

Then you have to ask what is the “church” that Christ established given he said that he would be with it always, until the end of times? And what did he teach them?

Matthew 28:20
19 Go, therefore,* and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Luke 10
'Whoever listens to you listens to me (his teachings). Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

So:
  • Who is the “you” in Matthew and Timothy?
  • And what was the “you” hearing (what teachings)?
  • And how does that fit into your understanding of what is in your bible?
  • And what church canonized the books in your bible?
  • And if you trust that this Church selected books that were infallibly the Word of God, why do you doubt the same church on faith and morals, and its interpretation of these same books?
Lots of questions this morning after several cups of coffee.

And who says Catholics don’t read the Bible! 👍

My ex-girlfriend’s mom made a remark like that. I made a joke about the end of the world (something like, “And the angel opened the seventh seal, and Rebecca Black’s song was played for a half hour.”) When she told my joke to her mom, her mom replied (I wasn’t there), “Catholics read the Bible?”

I immediately laughed out loud when my ex told me that story. From that point forward I knew the relationship would never work.

Something like that. Afterwards, it is usually when they go for the ad hominems and the stereotypical anti-Catholic garbage similar to what the second Ku Klux Klan and the Occupy Vatican movement preaches.

The last acceptable prejudice? More like the most acceptable prejudice nowadays due to how much anti-Catholicism is in the U.S. right now.

I’m not an American.

Whats your point?

So…how did they do that before:
  1. The printing press.
  2. When most of the world’s population did not read.
  3. And they had no Bible.
    ?
