Obviously, no one bothered to click on the picture. It’s actually one of the images of an Easter religious festival during Holy Week, Alcantarilla, Spain. It was featured in a scene in the 1957 movie Pride and the Passion imdb.com/title/tt0050858/

I suppose someone will try to say it’s proof that the Catholic Church is in cahoots with the KKK.
I did click on the picture, but because it went to a web-search page I didn’t go any further. I thought you had just used the picture.

The link goes to Google with the terms Semana Santa Spain.

Semana Santa == Holy Week.

Spain == Spain. 😃

I wouldn’t waste my time and energy hating anyone. ‘Praying for’ is a test. I have to say Thatcher wouldn’t be high on my ‘people to pray for’ list.

Certainly she didn’t attempt to disguise what she was while Blair (badly) did. My image of Blair would be pretty much the same as yours. But as interesting as the conversation is, we’re getting off the topic of the thread.

Yep, Hitler was certainly baptized a Catholic.
So was Ray Romano who was also raised Catholic but oddly it isn’t mentioned on nndb.com. Makes you wonder why they list Hitler as Catholic and Ray Romano with no religion. The same goes wit a lot of other Hollywood actors who were baptized and are listed with no religion. I bet it is an anti-Catholic thing to specifically list him as Catholic.

Probably. There’s no doubt others like to tell us of all the nasty people that were Catholic. They’re not so keen to discuss the good ones. Do you know that someone told me recently Mother Theresa was a bigot, pulled lots of nasty stunts in her time and generally wasn’t a very nice person?’

Yep, Mother Theresa is one of my icons. When atheists throw all the bad points of religion in my face, I have often said, ‘what about Mother Theresa?’ This is when I get presented with the ‘she wasn’t a nice person at all’ argument.

This not an argument at all; it is an ad hominem attack, and the response it deserves is, “Prove it.”
You know, you’re absolutely right. It does. Must try that next time, given that atheists love their ‘proof’ and empirical evidence.

Yeah, I opened a thread on Mother Teresa the other day. I’ve been watching a lot of vids on Saints on Youtube lately(Bernadette, Faustina, Padre Pio, Teresa) and while checking out Mother Teresa I discovered a lot of negative videos on her. One was in German calling her “Scheinheilige Teresa”. In German “Heilige” means Saint and “Scheinheilige” means phoney(coming from pretend saint).
They were going so far of accusing her to not ever having done anything for people in Calcutta. They also accused her of holding back painkillers because the suffering would give the patients closeness to God. Also the needles used for medical injections were only rinsed with cold water, dying people were baptized without their knowledge etc. When you type in “Mother Teresa” on Youtube, the first video that appears is called "Hell’s Angel: Mother Teresa by Christopher Hitchens. Probably because she worked in the name of the Catholic Church, people like Hitchens are looking for flaws

Then again, why should Mother Teresa or other Saints be treated better than Jesus himself. People have called and still call him a fraud.🤷

True, who better to attack than Mother Theresa in the name of anti-catholicism?

It doesn’t make your case look good to beat up a woman, much less a very old woman. Better to beat up a male authority figure; any age will do.

She’s a good person to attack because so many non-catholics, and some non-believers, had great respect for her, and her work.

Male authority figures get slagged off by everyone, so it doesn’t have as great an impact.

Although it kind of reminds me a bit of the British journalist Martin Bashir bashing Michael Jackson in his documentary “Living with Michael Jackson”. If a journalist bashes someone like Mother Teresa or Michael Jackson he is sure to get publicity and last but not least, a lot of money cashing in on it.
I don’t want to know how much money people like Hitchens make off of their bashing. Michael Jackson says it all in his song “Money”:

"Are you infected with the same disease
Of lust, gluttony and greed?
Then watch the ones
With the biggest smiles
The idle jabbers
'Cuz they’re the backstabber’s

Anything for money
Even sell my soul to the devil"

Here’s a real whopper. :

I always say that Catholics all believe a “Catholicism” all of their own making.
Many devout Catholics even maintain Protestant positions just to stay sane…though maintaining their loyalty to their denomination to give them identity and purpose.
I was listening to EWTN Catholic radio yesterday and the priest host said, in effect, that WHEN
he gets to Heaven, he is going to do such and such.

I hear this from devout Catholics all the time.

They say: “WHEN I get to Heaven…”

When.

That is not Catholic teaching.

Catholic teaching is “IF I get to Heaven…”

Even devout Catholics understand how faithless and sadly hopeless always saying and thinking “IF I get to Heaven…” sounds.

This is why they always adopt the Protestant faith of “WHEN I get to Heaven…”

Catholics love being Protestants…but unfortunately lack the courage to follow their stated convictions.

Living a lie is very important in the RC psyche.and then there is…
Hyperbole is a legitimate propaganda technique. It is also a fancy word for “lie”.
Is that why Jesus and so many Roman Catholics employ such a rhetorical device or figure of speech?
http://forums.carm.org/vbb/images/smilies/rolleyes.png

That is a big problem with Catholic apologists: so often they simply refuse to think.

Now that you have condemned God Himself and so many Roman Catholics as liars, what will be your next foolish action? And they went on to say…
We must remember that Catholic apologists have great shame and embarrassment over their own religion.
They will deny their own faith whenever convenient. They have no conviction and no backbone beyond what would give their denom the prettiest face…
Look at the lies this guy tells about us. And the people he posted that to believed him hook, line, and sinker. Yet this is some of the current propaganda that some a-Cs pass off as discussion and “fact” about our most holy faith.

This guy actually posts here at CAF no less, but he never owns up to this being his posts on a very a-C forum.

According to him all of us Catholics who engage in apologetics are shameless liars and deceivers!

But who would you say is the real deceiver after all? How do people like this claim to be “good Christians” and yet maintain such a double standard?

The joys of the internet.

The internet gives people anonymity and is impossible to control. Who knows who a person posting on the internet really is, and who knows the real reason they post? However, while it can’t be controlled there are lots of people out there who are internet savvy, and suss other internet users out pretty quickly because they know how to.

There are plenty of ‘good Christians’ out there who have seem to have little difficulty maintaining a double standard. People see through them too. They’re not fooling anyone other than themselves. Those who don’t see through them probably don’t want to.

I am often told I think I can earn heaven. I understand where that misunderstanding comes from, but when I try to explain where the person went wrong they refuse to believe differently.

Like, when you try to explain Catholics don’t worship Mary or the Eucharist? 😃
