Today is primary election day here in Louisiana. As one of those Catholics being lumped together with pro-abortion and anti-marriage liberals by any candidate’s supporters, I am just sick. How can ANYBODY even suggest that Catholicism is pro-abortion and anti-marriage?[A certain candidate’s political activist] listed the churches the campaign needed to mobilize: “Assembly of God, Baptist, Church of God, Nazarenes, Lutheran, non-denominational, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Reformed, Word of Faith.” And which to avoid: Catholics and Mormons, who were lumped together with "any church you know to be liberal on issues such as abortion and protecting traditional marriage."
Oh, I forgot. He was probably thinking about certain very prominent liberal Democratic politicians who are Catholic-in-name-only. Gee, I really appreciate being lumped in with those idiots whom we have been opposing for years.
There is nobody left on the Republican side whom I can vote “for”. On my side of the fence we have a choice between religiously bigoted poisonous vitriol and politically expedient liberalism. And across the fence we have flat-out radical liberalism.
Louisiana has a “Presidential Preference Poll” instead of a real primary. All of the delegates go to the convention officially Uncommitted with the voters merely “suggesting” whom they should select. That in mind, I may just stay home today.
