All I can read about online or anywhere is about the coronavirus pandemic. Even here in India, cases are increasing every hour.

I was just wondering is there any positive / good news there in the world right now? Is there any hope left? Will God come to our rescue? I know he always has everything in control. But right now its so hard to see it.

All I could find is bad. The latest was U.S. Democrats blocking President Trump’s Relief package to help people during the crisis.

Approval by the FDA (I believe) to start human trials on people here in the US with that Malaria drug, Chloroquine, and an antibiotic. There was a small trial done which looked promising because the people with the virus resolved after 6 days with little to no virus present in their bodies. I am not sure how small the first trial was however.

Could an Old Malaria Drug…

That is not a bad thing. A lot of us (myself) cannot even go to church right now, but the flip side of that, is that a lot of people are not able to celebrate their sins.

God is our hope! We should greatly desire to leave this world and spend eternity with Him - yet He waits and examines our charity in this time of great sickness.

Look at the cooperative efforts being made to preserve God’s gift of life. Look at the increase in prayer. Consider the longing of the human heart for communion with our Lord. True love waits as the heart grows fonder through absence.

If someone had asked me what would have the power to stop all sporting events through the world, it would have taken some time to figure it out. It turns out that famous sports figures and celebrities are not as important as the people who keep our grocery shelves stocked. I think we needed this tweeked.

In this time, there are many caring, generous people who shine.

News just reported that Italy has seen somewhat of a slow down in cases over the last two days. Also, my neighborhood has just exploded in kindness, it seems–people supporting each other, checking on each other. Lots of people out walking for exercise (keeping social distance) and waving and saying hello to everyone. Finally, my church is open with Eucharistic adoration in the large, main church (limit of 10 people, sitting very far from each other). What a blessing that is. I am also going to daily Mass streaming online, and have found it a great source of comfort. God doesn’t change; He is very much here with us.

There is good news in the financial world along with the bad. There are great buys on stocks. Car dealerships are offering 0% financing for 5 years. Very low rates for borrowing and refinancing. Real estate will take some time to come down, but it’ll be a great time for home buyers when it does. That’s all good news.

I’ve been hearing that zithromycin (Z-Pak) and the rheumatoid arthritis drug (edit drug name) chloroquine taken together are very promising in small studies. Watching the news, and I don’t recall who was speaking, but I agree that we should move forward to treat with these drugs vs waiting 18 months to prove 100% safety.

One more edit; now Dr. Oz (yea, that one) is saying he agrees on its effectiveness. So good news I believe.

We’re getting the rapid test (Gene Xpert) this weekend at my hospital lab! 45 minutes and you have your results!

Yay!!!

Having asthma I can tell you that in the past after having had the flu, which for me, typically turns into bronchitis or pneumonia, I’m given FloVent, benzonatate, and…Z-pack, and they generally work well in helping me breathe, so take it for what you will, anecdotally…

I recommend that you find some nice social media pages on animal shelters, which are continuing to operate and post pictures of adorable kittens and puppies and such, even throughout the bad times.

The Rome cat sanctuary is very nice. Their Facebook page has many nice videos.

Ernesto’s House of Cats has been operating in Aleppo despite the war going on all around it for years. Trust me, those guys are in more danger of death daily than the vast majority of us are (some of them have been killed), yet they continue to care for dozens of cats, monkeys, dogs and other animals.

Many live streamed Masses and prayers also
Think Positive

And the bars are closed and everyone is more or less fasting from entertainment during Lent…whether they believe or not [in Christ].
