Ok, so I went to Best Buy yesterday for completely unrelated reasons, and as I’m wandering around the store, I spot the music section. I contemplate looking for a Nightwish CD while I’m there, but I figure there’s absolutely NO WAY that they’d carry something like that. It took me a few minutes to find where it should be if they were going to have it (the music wasn’t exactly organized well). Much to my surprise, they have not 1 but 2 different Nightwish CDs. Dark Passion Play and End of an Era. While there were some really good songs on DPP, I was looking for one that Tarja sang on, so I bought End of an Era. I’d already heard a vast majority of the songs (thanks, guys!), but it was nice not to have to rely on youtube via my iPhone to hear them. Both disks now reside on my iPhone and iPod. 😃

Congrats on entering the Nightwish fanclub! 😃 😉

That’s pretty cool that Best Buy carried it. Wonders never cease.

Best Buy is either hit or miss when it comes to searching for music. They will have every album from some obscure death metal band in copious amounts, but they won’t have any Ozzy albums or something else you’d expect them to have.

Very true! Which is why I don’t think I’ve bough a CD from an actual store in at least 8 years. I do all my CD shopping online. 🙂

Which is exactly the reason I wasn’t very hopeful that my search would produce anything. I’ve gone in there before and they didn’t even have any Rush CD’s. How can you have a music section without Rush? Blasphemy, I say! 😃

I remember years ago they used to have a decent selection of music and anything new, old, popular and obscure could be found with reasonable prices. Like you said how can they be out of Rush? That’s just lunacy. My own tale involves going to look for a copy of “Bark at the Moon.” They had about a ten copies of “Diary of a Madman” and about five copies of his latest album. Nothing else – it was unbelievable. I thought it was a fluke and went back another time or two and nothing had change. Oh well, at least I can find what I need online.

I don’t know about which album to buy, but you can check some of the songs out on youtube. It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with the music and decide if you like the band. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Wishmaster
I Wish I Had An Angel
End of All Hope
Dark Chest of Wonders

thanks but my old machine just doesn’t seem to like youtube for some reason.🤷 are they anything like queensryche(sic?)
My vote would be “Century Child”. How can you go wrong with a cover of “Phantom of the Opera”? 😉

I don’t think Queensryche would be the first band I compared them to. 🙂 Unless you take the full band version of “Someone Else?”, cross it with the epicness of “Anybody Listening?” and “Suite Sister Mary” and then mix it with the intensity of “Spreading the Disease”. Once you’ve done this, then dial it up a couple of notches, trade out Geoff Tate for a female opera singer, and you have Nightwish. 😃

Do people still buy those shiny plastic disks with music on them??? That’s so 1990s!!!

Download from Amazon or elsewhere. Every album is always in “stock.” 😃

I always buy my music on CD. I just don’t like the idea of having to re-buy music that I already bought if my HD crashes. I’m guessing that some stores will let you dl it again, but I don’t have to worry if I have the CD at home. 🤷

Those are my thoughts as well. I’m far too paranoid about losing the album!

Of course, I could always burn it to a back-up disc, but then I’d want the cover art as well. I could probably find that online, too, and print it out. But then, that defeats the purpose of not buying the CD. 😉

When all is said, though, Iron Maiden is far and away my favorite. They have proven staying power, and each new release just solidifies their position as the best, IMHO.
I like the phantom of the opera by IronMaiden. Has a really nice sound (funny thing is I find this music relaxing 🙂 ) This is the only song of theirs I have. Which songs would you recommend?

Which Iron Maiden songs you do like?
