Well, I am very selective with the Heavy Metal music I listen to. Over the years I have listened to many bands, but as I learned to refine my preferences, I can say I appreciate a lot from the music and the lyrics made by Ronnie James Dio and the Musicians he has worked with over during four decades.
I love Dio’s “Rainbow in the Dark.” I’ve always found the video a little funny in that you don’t realize how short Dio is until you see him on top of a tall building. But I suppose shooting down from a higher angle is supposed to make him look taller.Well, I am very selective with the Heavy Metal music I listen to. With ELF:

With Black Sabbath, during the 80’s:

With DIO, during the 80’s:
“Caught in the Middle”, “Don’t talk to Strangers”, “Mystery”, “Egypt (the Chains are on)”, “Dream Evil”, “All the fools sailed away”, and “I could have been a Dreamer”.
With Black Sabbath, during the 90’s:
“Computer God”, “TV Crimes”, “Too late”, “I”, and “After all (the Dead)”.
With DIO, after his second period with Black Sabbath:
“Push”, “Throw away Children”, “Shivers”, “The Man who would be King”, “The Eyes”, “I am”, and “In Dreams”.
With Heaven and Hell:
“Ear in the Wall”, “The Shadow of the Wind”, “Atom and Evil”, “Bible Black”, and “Breaking into Heaven”.

Used to have all of Dio’s tapes till i flipped my truck,lost a lot of tapes that couldn’t be replaced and couldn’t afford a cd player to buy them in cd form.oh well at least i was still able to walk the rest of the way home( just a mile) after i woke up i tried to get back into my truck it was when i couldn’t open the door i figured out what happened…It’s always a mystery, not what it seems to be.

I have always thought Metalica to be the ultimate in heavy metal, and the best of musicians. Slip Knot, and those types of bands…ugh. I just don’t see the allure. Just wanted to chime in, as I have two kids–and they listen to rap…but love some heavy metal too. It’s good to see that it’s a genre that isn’t dead. ******I like old heavy metal…my dd (in the pic below) 12, in that pic…now 13…loves Bullet for my Valentine. I find that to be somewhat heavy metal, I am just not into the throaty screeching.

i agree that slipknot looks scary,for that reason they don't really appeal to me...try turning your kids onto some classical type music then they cna true metal "fans" as you may have noticed most of those who have posted here also seem to have a leaning towards that type of music when metal is not avilalbe or something different to listen too.
