Why did God give me a unevolved brain that cannot see the beautiful truth of evolution?God gave us brains for a reason. I’m pretty sure He expected us to use them

What a coincidence - the same “glorious, complex but coherent explanation of the observed universe” you refer to is exactly the same explanation that atheists are truly and madly in love with! That Creationists’ belief in the divine is so shaky that it depends on manifestations of the supernatural, rather than the glorious, complex but coherent explanation of the observed universe that demonstrates him to Evolutionists.
Personally, I’ve got better things to do than investigate every space-cadet hypothesis evolutionism serves up - there’s a real world out there! No you don’t. You don’t have to wonder, because if you did you could look it up, but in fact you don’t wonder at all. You don’t want to know.
I challenge you to demonstrate that there is even one YEC who thinks the Bible should be read literally in every respect. To everybody except Young Earth Creationists - and good for them by standing by their guns - the bible is not literally true in every respect
This sounds funny coming from someone who considers great swathes of the Bible (OT and NT) to be myth, superstition and children’s stories.Much of it is, as carefully worded by the teaching of the Catholic Church, “figurative”. No Catholic can “pick and choose what (if anything ) in the Bible he does or does not believe,” willy-nilly, or independently. His interpretations must always fall within the constraints of the teaching of the Church, which does not deny, I think, that everything I say above may be true, and is certainly an acceptable field of inquiry.
Does this mean Genesis cannot be interpreted literally?2: Does the Catechism refer to Genesis as using figurative language?
“Repeat a myth often enough and long enough and the masses with start to believe it. Call the myth “science” and this process will accelerate 1000-fold” - Satan.Science is a legitimate process on learning about the natural world and is a gift of God. It is not the poisoned fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Is it possible that this decision is part of the Great Apostasy? Yes, most definitely.Has the Church said evolution can be accepted by faithful Catholics? (Yes,)
Even if it is “circle”, the point is, why is the earth described that way? Why would a human describe the earth as a “circle”?In the Latin Vulgate, the word used in place of “globe” is “gyrum,” which is translated as “circle,” and not “globe.”
Uh, no. …
Quite so. My clumsiness. The teaching is indeed that the entire human race arose from a single couple, but I think it does not deny that that single couple could have been born from many ancestors - the “pre-existent and living matter”. It does deny that there were any ‘simultaneous’ humans.Do we have humans among us without original sin?
I didn’t use the Latin Vulgate, I used the Douay-Rheims Bible.
And the Vulgate came from the Hebrew. Surely if you want to know the word of God you ought to try to understand it in the language it was first written in, not in subsequent translations. The Douay came from the Vulgate.
Sorry, Glark. Tough love and all that…Your words are harsh and they crash into my fragile, egg-shell mind like lusty blows from a cricket bat, directed cranially.
God rejoices in the simple as much as in the complex. Why did God give me a unevolved brain that cannot see the beautiful truth of evolution?
Well exactly. You stick to your guns.Personally, I’ve got better things to do than investigate every space-cadet hypothesis evolutionism serves up - there’s a real world out there!
Semper Catholicus, Nelka, Carmel.I challenge you to demonstrate that there is even one YEC who thinks the Bible should be read literally in every respect.
… Yawn … Keep up. It’s all detailed above.Where does the Church say much of the Bible is “figurative”.
Where exactly does Satan say any such thing? I think you should be more precise in your sources.“Repeat a myth often enough and long enough and the masses with start to believe it. Call the myth “science” and this process will accelerate 1000-fold” - Satan.
God is in the smallest flower.God rejoices in the simple as much as in the complex.
Jesus said "In the world you will have tribulation (trouble ) but take courage , I have overcome the world "However, we don’t don’t feel defensive. The attacks are too feeble to need defending against.
You misrepresent me Hugh, and probably Nelka and Semper Catolicus also… I can tell the difference between factual and parable. However what is truth when you have to uphold your lofty theory above God’s truth ?I challenge you to demonstrate that there is even one YEC who thinks the Bible should be read literally in every respect.
Semper Catholicus, Nelka, Carmel.
No! No it isn’t! And the Great Apostasy is an idea from Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. Sects that don’t even believe in the Trinity. Is it possible that this decision is part of the Great Apostasy? Yes, most definitely.
Nothing could be more of a contradiction to the Catholic faith than to believe that Adam and Eve came from the wombs of soulless animal creatures.but for falsely calling evolution contrary to Catholic faith.
Not according to Humani Generis. (And there would’ve been animal souls.)Nothing could be more of a contradiction to the Catholic faith than to believe that Adam and Eve came from the wombs of soulless animal creatures.
How could God hold Adam and Eve accountable for sin if they were raised by soulless animal creatures?Humani Generis
M.Vitus the power of binding and loosing was given to Peter, after his recognition of the true identity of the Lord. Peter discerned and recognised Jesus in his Divinity . The power of binding and loosing is also accorded to the Apostles as a body. (See Matt.18:18)Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound also in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed also in heaven " So the Pope acts in unison with the Cardinals and Bishops. So, you see, when the Church speaks it is with one voice i.e. the Pope who is in union with the Cardinals and Bishops.Rememberthis: “You are Peter and on this rock I shall build my truth and that gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Whatever you bound on Earth shall be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”
