As with any other Protestant motivational speaker, evangelist, preacher that I come across while surfing channels, I keep going when I see them. I have no interest in listening to what they have to say. So, I have never watched her nor plan to. Some have mentioned Johnnette Benkovic. I do like her & have read one of her books & watch her show regularly on EWTN.🙂

I started watching her at a time when I was lost and away from the Church. Then I went to see her live. I was put off when after about an hour of praise and worship she made a very, what I considered, anti-Catholic remark. I can’t remember it verbatim but it was something like, well I don’t know about those who go to church and sit, kneel and stand when they worship, but this is the way it should be done ie. all the praise and worship music, with eveyone putting their hands in the air. That really got everyone going-clapping, singing, waving there hands even more. Well, it really turned me off from her after that. I still think she can bring people to Christianity, but I think as Catholics, we can probably find other sources of inspiration. JMO.

Wealth, Health, and Prosperity teachers are always popular… They never preach the gospel.

Can’t stand that garbage.

You can get motivational speaking somewhere else… The pulpit is there to proclaim God’s law and gospel not our own inventions.

“They are well know[n] for being very liberal so not sure how anti Christian they are.”

Wow. Now that’s quite a statement.

many people disagree: liberalslikechrist.org 😛

ABSOLUTELY not.
If I listened to a speech by Hitler or Mao Tse Tung or Fidel Castro and out of fear or disgust, that led me to the Catholic Church by the work of the Holy Spirit - should I give credit to them? Absolutely NOT.
The Holy Spirit deserves ALL the credit.
What I see here is political correctness and a false sense of tolerance run amok.
**I don’t **hate or dislike Joyce Meyer. On the contrary - I pray that ALL come to the fullness of truth that is the Catholic Church. It’s just that I have little time for charlatans and heretics who make millions by leading so many astray - like those in the Word-Faith movement. Those like Paul Crouch, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and yes, Joyce Meyer.
Amen, elvisman! You are absolutely right about the Health and Wealth crowd.

And, BTW, I like the colors. 🙂

I used to watch her show, and I have read a few of her books. But she has too much “prosperity-gospel” stuff for my taste, and I have heard her make veiled anti-Catholic remarks more than once (don’t ask me for examples, because I don’t remember exactly what they were). Her book, “Battlefield of the Mind” helped me when I was going through a tough time at work a few years back, but I don’t agree with quite a bit of her theology. So I’ll say thanks, but no thanks. I’ll stick with Mother Angelica or Fr. Groeschel if I need advice or motivation.

I actually do listen to JM on my way into work…AFTER Relevant Radio fades away…but, I tend to look at JM as more of a motivational speaker, than a Christian evangelist. She sprinkles some Gospel readings here and there…and suddenly she has a ministry. I applaud her for turning around her life --from having such an abusive childhood…abusive first marriage, etc…to who she has become, and she always preaches that it is because of God that she is where she is today. So, I like her…but, I don’t find her to be really more than a motivational speaker…

🤷

IT SEEMS LIKE SO MANY ON THIS FORUM WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYONE WHO IS NOT CATHOLIC. SOME OF US WEREN’T BORN CATHOLIC AND IT TOOK US YEARS TO GET HERE. IMHO, THE REASON SO MANY OF US LIKE JOYCE IS BECAUSE SHE HAS “BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT”. MANY OF US WHO WERE NOT ORIGINALLY CATHOLIC COULD MORE EASILY RELATE TO HER. I SAY SHE HAS BEEN A GOD SEND TO MANY OF US WHO WERE LOST. MAYBE HER THEOLOGY IS NOT THE SAME AS YOURS, BUT GOD SENT HER TO MANY OF US TO BRING US BACK TO HIM. THEN WE MADE THE DECISION THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS WHERE WE WANTED TO BE. THE END RESULT WAS GOOD. WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT WAYS OF DOING THE SAME THING, BUT THE END RESULT IS GOOD. GIVE US A BREAK. SHE’S BRINGING SOULS BACK TO GOD AND THAT IS A GOOD THING! WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE SO BLACK AND WHITE TO SO MANY OF YOU?

WAKE UP AND SEE ALL THE PRETTY COLORS IN BETWEEN BLACK AND WHITE! 👍

She does not appeal to me because she is not catholic she just isnt for everyone. I personally dont care for her style of preaching. But I can see why she would be a good stepping stone for some.

I have to say though that I do love Johnnette she is awesome.

Now that’s just what I’m trying to say. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Johnnette, but if she brings you closer to God, then that is wonderful.

I loved Joyce Meyers for the first year I was Christian , I still think she has alot of good to say and quite a talent with making the scriptures applicable to our daily lives , I do find these days as I grow in understanding , that she tends to be a "health and wealth " kind of preacher and I see that as not agreeing with the whole of scripture , I hate to hear scripture wrenched out of context .
a text without a context is nothing more than a pretext .
Haveing said that , I still hold that she has a lot to say to us and I think if God can use fire and wind and for heavens sake DONKEYS to talk to us , why not some gal who has a genuine love for Him even if her theology is kinda thin ?

To tell you the truth, both Joyce and Johnette do not appeal to me. It’s just a matter of my own personal taste, and it really doesn’t relate to whether either of them are Catholic or Protestant.

I think Fr. Corapi gives great practical and powerful advice! 👍

either one or whoever. God speaks to each of us in a way we can understand. As long as we end up closer to Christ, it’s all good in my book.👍

Okay, she’s not a Catholic and I AM a Catholic,
but I gotta tell you, I thoroughly enjoy watching Joyce Meyer’s
Enjoying Everyday Life program.

With wit and humor and a bit of self-deprecation, this woman
delivers a daily dose of practical biblical wisdom for daily living.
Sometimes she even causes me to bust out laughing.

I really like Joyce Meyer.
Is anybody else here a fan of hers?

God bless,

I have caught her a few times and spent time wathcing her… and just about each and every time I scratch my head and grunt “huh?”

She is like a folksy female Tony Robbins with some sort of reference to Christianity. I look for a message, and without fail it seems to fall in line with “Don’t mope, Jesus wants you to put on some make-up, and be happy. Having a new Cadilac would stick it to the devil!” Or something like that.

I am happy she has become a millionaire with this sort of vague, shallow motivational speaking… Doubtless many people need to be told to smile…

I watch her and think - time and time again - if only she new about the Catholic Fatih.

Wow from your profile you mentioned you are a hard core Catholic. Good for you. May i ask how God use you ? What kind of evangelistic job you have done for Christian community?? I believe pple like you whom have such a solid Catholic teaching must have impacted many pple around, just like Joyce Meyer did, or should i say even better then her, you mentioned you have no time for charlatans and heretics thus i believe God really uses Catholic like you to move pple in a powerful way…Please share with the rest how and what have you done, so that others can be motivated as well:thumbsup:
