Jaypeeto4…I believe you have either misunderstood or misinterpreted my statement or perhaps I did not make it clear enough or maybe you are even being defensive about charismatics. The more conservative church she was formerly in taught that “tongues” had, as scripture says they will…ceased… at the close of the apostolic age.
ACTUALLY, scripture nowhere states WHEN tongues will cease. It merely states that tongues will cease. If you read the whole context in which that statement is made, it strongly implies rather that tongues and such will cease at the end of the Age, not at the death of the last apostle, when we fully know Christ just as we are now fully known by him, and that Love alone will remain .
The Bible nowhere, not ever, states that tongues will cease at the end of the apostolic age or the end of the first century A.D. or what have you. That is something anti-Charismatics read INTO the text. But it isn’t there anywhere.
God bless,
Jaypeeto4

**I **was not saying when tongues will cease. This was the doctrinal teaching of the conservative protestant denomination that Ms Meyer was originally a member of, i.e. that tongues ceased at the end of the apostolic age.
