Anyone ever have this happen?

Why should he/she welcome ANYONE who is trying to cleave him/her from the True Faith?Have you ever read the slander that is printed in their tracts about Catholics,the Catholic Church and our priests?
Give your head a shake-ANYONE who approaches me with hate literature gets the bum’s rush.These people are not interested in honest debate.They come to convert you from Christianity.You would not believe the filth about us in their tracts.
They don’t even bother knocking at my door anymore-they leave their tracts and run.I take their tracts to the local Kingdom Hall and tape them to their front door with a rebuttal that includes my name address and phone number.
This non-Christian cult is NOT welcome on my property.

I’m just saying that throughout the course of the day there are many times that we can act in a manner that demonstrates our willingness to live according to the Gospel. They may not always be convenient. This situation is a perfect example of a seemingly inconsequential circumstance in which we can prove that we “walk the walk”, so to speak, of our Christian faith. Kind words and kind actions to others whom we may not agree with, while still holding firm in our convictions, will speak volumes of the truth of the faith that we hold. I think it was St. Francis that said: “Preach the Gospel constantly, and when necessary, use words.”

Were the Jdubs disrespectin him or her? I knocked doors and it was appalling seeing so many so-called Christians treat me as if I was of the devil. On the other hand, I thought there were many people who treated me kindly who represented their religion very well.

Is a kind “no thank you, I am not interested” too much to ask?

When you were knocking on doors did you respect No Trespassing signs? Or did you put your life in potential danger by entering the property anyway?

I never felt threatened to ‘potential of death’ but I tried to respect personal property. Not always would I see the signs even though I was looking for them…

I still don’t feel that justifies the way Christians treat people who come to your door.

You can post but it seemed as if the intent was to be funny… Some people don’t understand things the same way you do.

I know how pushy they can be but clearly there is another way to get them away than to threaten them like that.

I was gardening. I was knee deep in compost and dirt. I was there with a pitch fork, shovel and tons of gardening tools. I was a mess. Dirt all over me, sweating coming down my face and working hard in my garden.

These people who came to preach had NO respect for my current situation. They didn’t care I was working at something. Nothing bothered them.

The no tresspassing sign didn’t bother them. They ignored it.

Me gardening and up to my elbows in dirt and compost. They ignored it.

So tell me sir/madam -cwbetts-

When is enough, enough.

When is no thanks, I’m not intererested not understood.

These people, no matter what I said to them, kept going at it for more than 5 minutes. Even as I kept saying, no thanks and I would move to a new spot in the garden, they would follow me.

Now, you tell me - it’s not like I was sitting on my porch, enjoying the hot summy day, sipping an ice tea or cocktail.

A little off topic I know, but I was curious; are there any JW’s on this forum? Mormons are here in a pretty big way, we seem to have just about every Protestant view point covered, many atheists and agnostics, even Muslims, but I haven’t seen any JW’s posting here.

A JW worth his salt won’t be caught posting here. JW’s don’t advocate much internet activity and even more so would be against posting on the enemy’s website. You are to be ‘babes to badness’ and having nothing to do with the filthy thing. On some boards I see active JWs posting but it is rare and would probably get a dressing down if congregation elders caught wind of this activity.
I was a JW long time ago (disassociated in 1991) but I remember it well.
I was approached while gardening a couple of weeks ago by 2 JW ladies. I just take it in stride. Not worth the trouble to be rude. Let them count their activity and they’ll be on their way.
I had some LDS missionaries come to my door a few months ago and probably freaked them out. I thought they were visiting me as a member (as I was up until May 2007) and they we just tracking. They were astonished at how much of the lingo I knew. Told them I was Catholic now, they asked a few questions and left without any agnst. Truth will come on God’s timetable - not ours… and he took his sweet time with me

“You are on a private property, with a no trespassing sign at entry point… which word didn’t you understand”…

And they started to talk again and told them to get off the property or I’ll have them arrested for trespassing.

Wow, that was very charitable. A fine example of a welcoming Christian. “Lord, when did we see you a stranger and welcome you…” Matthew 25:38

The sign said no tresspassing. Case closed.

Besides, those people were trying to lure a person away from Christ’s church. Welcome them? Hardly.

Actually, it is. You are being intrusive and insulting. You are coming on to private property uninvited. You (JWs) are trying to lure people away from Christ’s church.

All of this and you actually expect a warm reception?!

Get away from my door and out of my yard.

You seem to think that the JWs who come to my door are there to learn about the Catholic faith. Where in the world did you get that idea?

At best, they’ll debate the subject. IMO, to debate them is to give their pov more validity than it deserves.

If someone honestly asks me about Catholicism, I’ll talk to them. If they want a debate, I shut them off.

Debating Catholicism vs another religion (IRL) is like debating round earth vs flat earth, or evolution vs creationism.

There is no validity of the other side, and it’s a waste of time.

I will debate details of religion, but I won’t debate about which church is the true church, or which church I should belong to. Once you answer the first question, the 2nd question is pointless. I know which church is God’s church, so there is nothing to discuss with the JWs who come to my door. They have nothing to tell me, and they aren’t there to hear what I have to say.
