Anyone ever have this happen?

Hmmm WWJD to someone who breaks the law and tries to lure people away from his Church?

I guess we can only look at the Bible to see what he did. He would chastise those people.

Jesus was accepting and kind to the sinners who repented. To those who refused to follow him and who actively rallied against his teachings, he dealt somewhat harshly.
Kalt, are you blind to see that not everyone believes the Catholic church is true? I guess we all are going to hell for not being Catholics huh?

There is some degree of truth in all faith traditions. However only the Catholic Church has the fullness of Truth. Only the Catholic Church can trace its roots directly to the Christ through the Apostles. No one questions the devotion of Mormons. However we must question the false teachings of Mormonism.

According to your beliefs, where do yo go if you don’t believe in Catholecism?

Thanks

Did you mean CWs personal belief or Catholic belief?

As I see it, it depends greatly on what we do with what we’ve been given, but we could never tell you where someone will end up… it’s not our job… All we can do is take what we’ve been given and hope the message of truth will be absorbed.

That is not for me to say. I do not specualate on the condition of the soul of another. That is the decision of God, not me.

Great response… I hear a lot of emphasis that the Catholic religion is correct so that brought me to curiosity about what happens to other religious praciticioners.

Mormonism makes the same claims (as far as correctness is concerned), so the question could have been easily been asked of you about those who do not believe in Mormonism.

God bless

Have you read anything I’ve written? Of coures I know that they don’t know the Catholic Church is the church that Christ formed. And they don’t want to hear the truth. When they come to our homes, they’re only purpose is to lure us away from the Catholic church. They have no other goal and no other interest. They are not coming to my house to hear the truth of the Catholic Church.

Others going to Hell for not being Catholic? I think you need to get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

You don’t know much about the CC, do you?

As far as that goes, I do believe that the Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:18) and is the pillar of truth (I Tim 3:15). As I have said, other faith traditions have pieces of the truth, and certain of their practices have qualities to be admired, but the Fullness of Truth can only be found in the Catholic Church.

The JWs aren’t interested in hearing about Catholicism, so I missed no such opportunity. They are there only to convert others. .
You missed my point. I stated that you missed your opportunity to direct the JW to the truth assuming that you do in fact know the truth.
I’m surprised that everyone doesn’t know that. You must never have had one of these pesky ones at your door.
Again, you miss my point. While I have never been a JW, I have much experience with them, I have studied much of their material and most important, I have a sincere burden for them, obviously you do not, which is of course your right.
Looking at the Bible a problem? Not to a Catholic, A JW? Well, they don’t want to look at the whole of the Bible, and they certainly don’t want to put the little pieces they pluck out back into context.
Then please explain all of the hostility. Did the Apostle Paul write off people like you do? Did he not witness to the truth to those who beat him? Tossed him into jail? If you know your Bible, then you would have nothing to fear from the witnesses. In fact, you would consider it pure joy to discuss the word of God to one who does not know the One True God.
As I said in an earlier post, there is nothing worthy of debate.
Except the salvation of souls, the souls that Christ died for, is that not worthy of mere debate? Or is that just a minor annoyance to you?
I am a Catholic, and I’m not interested in their conversion attempts. The strength of my faith and my steadfast refusal to hear their bunk against it, is my witness.
What about the Great Commission? Are you exempt? You look at them at your door as them attempting to convert you. I look at it as the Lord sending the lost to me to hear the Gospel. When the witnesses knock at my door they hear and see the gospel right from the Bible and they leave knowing that not everyone who is not a member of their organization is Bible illiterate or unable to show their faith right from the pages of the Bible.

This is not the same as having the door slammed in their face, which is what you seem to advocate.

Well, you are free to live in a fairytale. 🙂

Those people weren’t sent by God for you to save.(How egotistical of you!!) Those people are there of their own free will to convert you.

As I said before, I will discuss Catholicism with anyone who truly wants to listen. The JWs at your door aren’t there to listen.

Not only advocate, but have done. I will politely say “No thank you.” once. Then I close the door. I do the same to those who call on the phone to sell things. I say, 'No thank you." If they keep talking, I hang up.

Please accept my humble appology kalt. I was confused and thought you were a Christian. I’m so sorry.
I love all these “Christians” who have been goven the power to peer into another’s soul.

Very good question SD Catholic. It is true that the Jdubs have tinkered with the Holy Writ. However, if you are willing to engage in meaningful discussion with them, the thing to do for you would to be take out your trusty old New American Bible or better yet The New Jerusalem Bible and use that. When differences come up in the text then you could (if you are interested in meaningful conversation) ask the dub to prove his translation is correct and yours is wrong. This is why the New Jerusalem Bible (assuming you have the unabridged version) is so valuable because it has so many translators notes and as a bonus uses the word Jehovah for God the Father in the OT.

A few other helpful things to keep in mind:
  1. Stay away from theology and practices that are not found in the Bible (anything that uses tradition to justify).
  2. Know what the WT teaches and why.
  3. Know what the Bible teaches. Don’t use the deutero-cononicals.
  4. Be sure of your faith (and knowledgable) so that you are not threatened by the conversation either. I’m not pointing fingers my friend but a fair reading of threads in this forum indicates that this is a problem Catholics have also. They will only know that you are Catholic if you tell them. Responses like “I already have my religion” or “there is only one true church and it is…” will end the discussion and this is what you might want but if you are interested in showing Christian love that would not be the way to go in my estimation.
  5. Most important, stay on one (1) topic and don’t stray. If you stray, it will turn into “Bible Hopscotch” and this is where the Jdub will wipe up the floor with the average Catholic and “mainline” protestant.
A really good book to read to get inside the head of the witnesses is titled Chrisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz. It can be found used on Amazon.com or Alibris.com or ebay. Franz was the nephew of one of the past presidents of the WT and served on the Governing Board of the society for 9 years before getting ex-communicated. There is something of value for everyone to learn in this book not just questioning JWs or folks interested in cults.
Or better yet, how about if the J/W learns all about the Catholic Church and then they can quit knocking on people’s doors and go to Mass instead and spent time in worship and then in their spare time they can spend it in fellowship and doing good.😃

I looked at them and quickly said to them…

“You are on a private property, with a no trespassing sign at entry point… which word didn’t you understand”…

And they started to talk again and told them to get off the property or I’ll have them arrested for trespassing.

Wow, that was very charitable. A fine example of a welcoming Christian. “Lord, when did we see you a stranger and welcome you…” Matthew 25:38
**Yes that was not very welcome by jakasaki. There were unarmed preachers. jakasaki could not tolerate them.

I had the JW’s at my door. They wanted to give some papers (reading material). I invited them inside nd told them that I will not speak to them at the door.

They came inside, a white man a beautiful lady ( a man and his wife) . They sat down. I offered tea and biscuits but they did not use them. So after some introductions, they left the brochures and went away.

I kept the brochures or booklets but did not read them for about two years.
One day I found a white man and I talked to him. He was the father of one of the same couple that came to my house years earlier. I found that he could speak the local language, was dressed very well. He had a transport and a rented house in the market.

I found the JW’s well organised. Previous to that I had another JW visitor, an aged Indian male. I entertained him at home and he partook of all food offered. We discussed things. (He has since died)

I had seen their bible. It was the same bible that I had. Nearly every page of the bible had some parts underlined. They do too much research on the bible.

Now, coming to the real point, I found the JW’s friendly, peaceful. Later one day I read their Tower books. I found that they are very peaceful. They are against any bloodshed, perhps against any military service too. The message in their booklets was that of Peace. God knows best.**

Its easy to be against any military service when Catholics and other Christians have fought for their freedom.
