Anyone feel like they won't ever get married?

I am a single 37 year old female in New York and I fell like I won’t ever get married. The men I meet who are single do not want comitment and I feel like I have spent so much time alone it is a heavy cross to baer life without a partner…and am so ready for God to send me the right one. I want a husband and a family and just want to settle down. Please pray for me. Thank you

Thank you for the prayers. I have needed them lately. Lately i feel as if God is telling me to not date. I have been meeting nice men but they are agnostic. I am frankly getting tried of the whole trying to figure men’s intentions out or playing the game in any way.

Friday night i went to a right to life banquet and then spent sometime with a friends baby at a wedding on saturday night. I realize i truly want to be married and have childern but that its not the right time. I think God wants me to focus on my law school studies so that i even if i don’t get married and have childern of my own that i can protect the childern of the world somehow.

I will keep you all in my prayers!

Hang in there folks. When I feel down when I wish I had that special lady, I try to remind myself that we have a God who loves us and not a genie that can sprout our soulmate at a snap of a finger. I try to pray that the Lord gets me through the tough times without her, and to help me learn what he is trying to teach me.

Remember, sometimes the best love stories are the ones that took some time to create. Just like in the bible days… just when all hope is lost, God pulls through as he always does, but in His time and not ours…

I sometimes feel that way as unlike most of my peers I have never had a relationship with a man that I would have considered more than friendship, but I’m only 25 and the average age for a first child (at least here in Australia) is 30 so I’m hoping to get my studies over with (this is the final semester of my degree) and see where God leads me.
I take heart from the fact that my sister has only had one boyfriend, who she met when she was 26 and she is getting married to him next year.
 
Just in case my story might be a little inspriring. I always wanted to get married some day but wanted a career. I pursued a college degree, then floundered because I couldn’t find good work. Started law school at 20, joined the Navy at 33, went overseas and around 35-36, decided I did really want to get married. It took six more years of searching and when I found my husband, I balked against it becuase he was Protestant, lived 5 states away, etc. I was 42 when I got married and we’ve been married for almost 12 yrs. We adopted twin girls from overseas and despite the day to day life struggles we’re doing very well and are a happy family. I really had come to think it was soooo unlikely that I’d ever get married. I was living in the D.C. area and using dating services and attending every social gathering I could. I was a horror. There, particularly the men are quite self-absorbed in their careers and very finicky about women who are very available. My six years of searching was lonley, depressing and exhasperating. I think it was a kind of penance for me. In my prayers I communicated that I wanted a family and would dedicate myself to the role of wife and mother, or I would accept a single life. I asked for help and eventually I got it. Don’t despair. Oh, and best advice, don’t look for a spouse in a bar or dance club. Everyone is on their game there. I’s suggest involving yourself in every club and other kind of social activity that you are interested in: a sport, book club, festivals, friends’ gatherings, etc. Everyone is more themselves when not in a known dating game. Dear friends,

I’d like to ask you for your prayers today, specially. I’ll tell you why. I’ve met this girl back when classes started at my college (a month ago, something like that); she’s dutch, she came to Portugal as part of an academic students’ exchange program of the EU, called “Erasmus”, so she’s chosen Portugal as her destination. She’s Catholic, but she’s definitely not an orthodox Catholic, although she practices remarkable virtues, like, for example, she dresses very well, from a catholic point of view, if you know what I mean. Actually, that was one of the things that made me foccus my attention on her. She’s a good person, she’s probably just ignorant about what the Church really teaches, or doesn’t yet understands that no one can be a true Catholic by being heterodox.

We’ve talked sometimes about these religious issues, and I gave her my visions on this particular issue of orthodoxy; the problem is that she can’t “defend” herself or her opinions and points of view in english (as she’s just learning portuguese at this point, and she’s not able to have such elaborate conversations in english), but anyway, I can, and I did make sure she got an idea of how Catholic I am. I can’t help but to feel an unexplainable tenderness feeling about her; I really don’t know what it is. The thing is I can’t just stop seeing her until I’m 100% sure she’s not going to become a good, orthodox Catholic. And she, herself, has admited that she doesn’t understand how can our opinions be so different, and yet she likes me so much.

I’m seeing her tonight, we’re going to have a coffee together. I’m not going to lie and say you guys I’m totally confident about this date - I’m not. In fact, I’m all shaking inside. 😛 So, I’d really be grateful if you, dear friends, could say some prayers for me, so that this night may go well, so that she converts fully to Catholicism and Catholic Orthodoxy, so that nothing happens between us against chastity, so that we may resist to temptation.

May God bless us all, and grant the gift of Faith to all souls on this Earth, so that one day every one shall kneel and bow to Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and His Holy Mother and Mother of God, Our Lady. Thanks in advance, and sorry for letting this all out! 👍

Praying to St. Jude for all…

In the interim, what about the possibility that CAF members were brought to this site and specifically to this Thread, through god to possibly meet their future spouse?! OK, maybe I am crazy and maybe the thought is outlandish, but I have read many posts by some on here trying to use secular dating sites, or even catholic dating sites…I say play a dating game with eachother on the list…maybe it can’t hurt to at least explore?!

If you want, I can be the matchmaker! lol
