Hello,
Long story short I was born a Catholic, converted to LDS, and am now (for past 40 years) a lifetime member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment. Ask me anything about Edgar Cayce.

What does Cayce provide for you that the Church that Jesus founded (i.e., the Catholic Church), does not?

Hello Gorglas,
Thank you for asking.
Many of Cayce’s readings involved health. I religiously eat 3 almonds every day to avoid getting Cancer. I had shingles some years ago and I applied a castor oil pack (often recommended by Cayce) and the itching would go away.
Some of his reading involved dream interpretation. I have personally stopped studying my dreams but I used to write them all down and then read them over.
We meet in homes where we discuss a book and then meditate. I prefer the small group setting as opposed to meeting in a large congregation especially in the Catholic setting where I was required to just sit and watch the priest do his stuff.
His reading on past lives, provide an insight into what we are supposed to be doing while on earth.

No questions.

Please don’t involve yourself with the writings of Edgar Cayce. He can’t do anything for you.

Stick with Jesus. He is all anyone needs.

How would you explain people who drink almond milk or eat almonds and food products made of almonds, who get cancer? And of course, almond farmers who get cancer?

Shingles stays in a human body forever. It becomes acute with a set of given circumstances. Caster oil will take itching away but not the extreme pain of shingles.

If all you’re doing is “sitting and watching a priest”, then you weren’t really practicing Catholicism. By the same token, if you just sat and watched Cayce “do his stuff”, and that’s all it was, then you wouldn’t get anything out of that either, would you? 😉

There are “small settings” for Mass, too, and not just large congregations.

Sounds like you didn’t really experience Catholicism to its fullest!
His reading on past lives
How do you know that you’ve had ‘past lives’?

Edgar Cayce might be interesting, but the promise of eternal life and of eternal joy in this life and in the next only comes through Jesus.

Please do not be deceived. Give your heart to the Lord and allow him to become first in your life.

Hello Lateran,
Are there people who actually ate almonds and still got Cancer?
It was many years ago and I forget now whether I felt pain or just an itching.

We don’t know what or if there is an afterlife. My guess is that there is an afterlife and if there is it involves multiple lifetimes on earth.
Please do not be deceived. Give your heart to the Lord and allow him to become first in your life.
The study of Edgar Cayce isn’t a rejection of God.

OK. So, what you mean is that you don’t believe in God or in Jesus, who informed us that there is just one life, and after that, an eternal afterlife. Right?

That’s one of the benefits of Christianity – I don’t have to guess, I’ve been informed by God Himself!

Well, but… “I don’t know if there’s an afterlife” kinda is a rejection of God and His teaching, wouldn’t you say?

Your putting words in God, and Jesus mouth. Apparently the person who wrote the book of Hebrews believed we only come to earth once. Jesus or God never gave much info on the afterlife. The word combination eternal afterlife is not in the bible. The word eternal life is, and it is defined by Jesus in the garden in the gospel of John. If Catholicism and Christianity choose to ignore the definition provided in favor of there own definition then that’s on them.

Wait, what was stopping you from eating almonds, using home remedies for shingles, and still staying Catholic?

Actually, the Bible is unequivocal in condemning the use of clairvoyants, psychics, horoscopes, tarot cards, or any other aspect of the occult.

The Holy Spirit alone has written the revelation of God in the Bible. Clairvoyants, psychics, and occult practitioners can only provide a cheap and condemning counterfeit. The Biblical term for clairvoyant is “medium” or “spiritist.”

The Bible warns us, “Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.” - Leviticus 19:31 (NRSVCE)

1 Peter 5:8 (NRSVCE)
“Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.”

Are you being devoured, huck? The Deceiver says no. Your profile says you are. Those with their eyes wide open are trying to keep you from the Devil’s snares.

Take heed and turn away from the deceptions of the late Edgar Cayce. Turn your heart and mind to Jesus. He’s the only One who can satisfy whatever you’re looking for.

Your putting words in God, and Jesus mouth.
The Bible is God’s word, isn’t it?

Apparently. Are you saying he is mistaken? Are you saying, then, that God allows error in the Bible?
Jesus or God never gave much info on the afterlife.
😳
Umm… pardon?
The word combination eternal afterlife is not in the bible.
Must that precise combination of words exist, in order that the teaching of Jesus (and of the Church He founded) be accepted?
The word eternal life is
And you’re claiming that “eternal life” and “eternal afterlife” are distinct and mutually exclusive notions? From whom do you perceive this distinction? Do they speak for God?
If Catholicism and Christianity choose to ignore the definition provided in favor of there own definition then that’s on them.
“Them”? That’s telling…

I thought Cayce was Christian? Are you claiming he was not? Are you claiming that there is truth that exists that is outside of and contradicts Jesus’…?

The Precious Blood of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is enough for one life.

Reincarnation is a deception of the evil one.

Yes, we need to take care of our bodies with healthy good habits.

However, various kinds of suffering does come along, and we meet these challenges with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church.

Hello lilypadrees,
Your response was the most significant as it involves looking to what the bible actually says in determining whether there are legitimate uses of psychic ability. Edgar Cayce warned about the use of outside objects whether it be Ouija board, pendulum, or something else. He taught to go within and that these objects were shortcuts and they should be avoided. Occasionally the dead would speak through him but he didn’t seek them out preferring to go straight to what he called the universal consciousness. He interpreted dreams for others which is what Joseph did for pharaoh and his cell mates.
I don’t recall which one but one of the prophets was able to clairvoyant enemy plans.

I could continue to attend Catholic services if I wanted to. EC doesn’t have anything to do with my decision not to.

Whereas almonds are good, many nutritionists today are saying walnuts are even better. (BTW, is consuming three related to your (former) trinitarian belief in Gd by any chance, or just a random number?) But no food that we know of is a sure bet in preventing cancer although an overall healthy diet, plus exercise, may very well lower the odds. As to Edgar Cayce, I have heard of him and believe he was a clairvoyant. There may be something to his practices and prophecies, so, if you prefer to follow his ideas, that’s up to you. What do you think of Nostradamus?

Of course there are? Why would you think otherwise. If almonds were in any way related to definitively preventing or curing cancer, the Medical Profession would be all over this as would the commercial big business drug companies. Think about what you are saying here.
Use critical thinking.

I can assure you, if you felt the pain of shingles you would remember it and castor oil would not diminish it. Was the shingles medically diagnosed?

Jesus the Son and God the Father give us tomes of information on the afterlife, that is the Kingdom of God. Read the Bible, its all in there. There is absolutely no information on reincarnation as a thing, in the Bible, either the Old Testament or the New Testament.

Hello Meltzerboy,
In his readings EC said several times that a person wouldn’t need to worry about cancer if he ate 3 almonds a day. It’s rather doubtful that it had anything to do with the trinity, especially since God is viewed as the Creative Force rather than a being. Nostradamus as far as I know didn’t provide any helpful guidance with regards to how to live life.
