Death is what he deserves. Let him go be with his master in Hell.
I have to agree with you. And not death by lethal injection. Too me, that is the easy way out. Hanging in public, with no sack over the head and no quick drop from a platform. Maybe this is harsh, but I stand by my opinion.

Why let someone like this live the rest of their life in jail, being fed 3 meals a day, have a place to sleep and have more things given to them, then a poor homeless person on the street.

The Book Of Romans also said, “Vengance is mine, saieth The Lord.” Which means such can ONLY be used by our heavenly father.
No it doesn’t This is use as a proof text, thst is , taking three words away from the context and giving it a meaning not intended by the author. The context of the verse is not the death penalty and was not intended to be used as such by Paul.

What hurts the most is placing thease people to death, without giving them a chance to repent. Is it right for them to die in a state of evil, regardless of what they did? And like I said, it costs more than a life sentance, and it’s tough on the taxpayers. In fact, remember what Blanka said:
The condemned have plenty of time to repent. In fact, the prospect of having to face execution itself can be motivation to repent. There is no evidence that life in prison makes one more likely to repent “in time.” And I agree with another poster that you are taking Scripture out of context. In fact, you show that you have no familiarity with Scripture at all.

Not from what my parents taught me. My mom said that people earmarked for death row NEVER repent. She also said that eve Timmy MC Veigh (who wasn’t Scottish), never repented @ ALL, nor showed any remorse, right up to when he met The Angel Of Death. Ditto for Ted Bundy.

Was there a Gallup poll on that?

If anyone was taking Scripture out of context, that would be my family. Yet everyone’s got a matter of interpetation. However, did we ever stop to think that not even the death penalty can last eternally? In the book of Apocolypse (pardon the spelling), St John said that there would be no death, no pain and no tears. So, we can guess that when the time comes, death will be ancient history when a new earth comes into play. P.S.: Like I said, there is quite a huge amount of supporters in favor of life with no parole on the poll.Just my 2 cents worth, eh?

Truth is not decided by majority vote. I don’t care how many persons voted for life without parole. The death penalty, war, and all other such things of this life will end when Christ returns to establish his Kingdom. But until then, God has established the secular order to keep peace and promote justice so that we can live reasonably well.

I’ll have a tough time trying to explain that to my family.

Consider these quotes:

“An evil deed is not redeemed by an evil deed of retaliation. Justice is never advanced in the taking of a human life. Morality is never upheld by legalized murder.” --Coretta Scott King

“I’m opposed to the death penalty because I don’t agree with murder. Murder is still murder. It’s violence against a human being.”
– Aba Gayle, whose daughter was murdered.

OK, we have a few debates going on the viability of the death penalty. I would like to know what punishment people think is appropriate for this crime…we’ll use something recent. Assume that the criminal is actually guilty of the crime (100% GUILTY).

A 9 year old girl is abducted from her bed in the middle of the night, raped, and then murdered. The person who comitted this crime is found to be a repeat sexual offender/child molester. He has confessed this crime to the authorities.

What is the proper punishment?

Please post any arguments in favor of your choice.

Thank you.
I voted for Prison. I don’t believe that killing is right except for the cases in which I have been told the Church allows. (such as in self defense and what-not)

I think that if someone was put to death, they would simply… die. I think that they should live out their life, never be offered parol for any reason because if they did it once, there is nothing to stop them from doing it again. Perhaps they should be meant to carry a picture of the one that they harmed, be made to sit for an hour in quiet contemplation. shrugs Perhaps the said offender could carry out their life doing hard labor, that way they could be betering something, but their lives would not be wasted. Maybe they have yet the chance to reconcile their souls.

I guess it depends on how you define “murder.” I define murder as the killing of innocent life. This would exclude murderers, those killed trying to commit a crime, and those killed on the battlefield during war.

What’s your definition?

I voted for the rot in prison option.

I’d give him a 1m by 2m cell with whitewashed walls. A strong metal door. A tiny cat flap thing which bread and water can be pushed through. A picture of his victim on the wall. Never seeing any person ever again. Never talking to anyone ever again.

Let him go mad til the day of his death.

Okay, so you’ve given me two quotes from two persons who think that the death penalty is murder. So what? When my undergraduates do this in their papers, I penalize them severely for not making an actual argument. I can find a list of famous people to support just about anything I want. That doesn’t prove anything. Also, the claim that justice is never advanced by taking human life is simply not true. I would say that defeating the Nazis in World War II and liberating the concentration camps was advancing justice. That necessarily involved taking many human lives.
