The scheduled appearances of several controversial speakers for a series of Advent Vespers services at San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer parish have been called off on orders of Archbishop George Niederauer.

I am glad that the Archbishop cancelled the appearances of these controversial people. However, I am not sure about his reasoning for doing so. According to the article, his reasoning for cancelling the controversial speakers appearances is that they did not reflect the themes of Advent:
“The Archbishop felt that Vespers (a prayer of the church) should reflect the themes of Advent,” said Wesolek.
Also, apparently these controversial speakers were publicly avowed homosexuals and I am guessing that is the reason for the controversy.

I live in San Francisco and Most Holy Redeemer used to be a family Parish – in fact, several of my good friends went to grammar school there, many years ago. They had to close the grammar school because there just weren’t enough young children there now. Believe me when I say that the “gays” have taken over the city – it’s just not like it was when I was growing up.

How sad. I am guessing they have already taken over the churches as well, right? If so, why doesn’t the Bishop take action against them? Is he afraid to do so for fear of harsh criticism from the public?

Should there be any guest speakers at a vespers service? No, not really.
