God is teaching us what happens when a majority of Catholics vote for a man who spent 20 years in a Black Liberation Theology Church. Rev. Jeremiah Wright who was a follower of Loius Farrahkan til he went out on his own preaching hatred of the white race. The media overrun with intellectual elite rabidly liberal in persuasion gave the CIC a pass on his racist ties. His own Attorney General refused to prosecute Black Panthers intimidating white male voters trying to enter a polling place on election day(Federal Offense)stating “a hate crime cannot be commited against a white person because they have not suffered enough as a race yet”. Black Liberation Theology preaches enslavement of the white race according it’s founding father. Where were the Bishops on that one? The Bishops donated $6,000,000 of the lay faithful’s money to Acorn which has ties to the CIC and his racist agenda. This should be shouted from our pulpits!

God save our nation.

Yes the “Death Panels” which didn’t exist according to the Dems during the Obamacare debate were craftily removed from the legislation once Sarah Palin sounded the alarm. But not entirely. The IPAB which survived is in fact a death panel and will handcuff doctors as to what treatment they are ALLOWED to provide. It’s not simply that older, sicker people would be denied care, even younger people with treatable diseases will have to knuckle under the green eyeshade types (BTW I am an accountant) whose mission it is to control costs. If the determined “best practice” is a specific protocol but the doctor does not think this would be the best course of treatment for a specific patient he would be prevented from authorizing such treatment…it isn’t this way YET but the theory is clearly envisioned by the Washington bureaucrats who know what’s best for us. In the original bill there was a specific carve out for doctors to get paid to have one of those yearly chats with their patients “Well Mr Smith I see you have heart disease, have you thought about a Living Will and a DNR yet?” Wouldn’t want to spend too much money would we?

You can see a model of this type of protocol with respect to organ transplants. Potential patients are triaged as to their age, condition and likelihood of success. Now it’s understandable that with limited organs available, they must be carefully distributed to recipients with the greatest chance of survival. So in effect a rationing system has been put in place. OTOH in the case of medical protocols it’s not the lack of treatment but the cost that will reign over the welfare of the patients.

A non-Catholic asked me a question (and wants a source) that someone else asked her. I don’t have an answer. Anyone know? This person is basically telling my friend that the Catholic church has been complying for a long time with this mandate in 28 states and no one has raised a fuss. Why now, he said. Here is a quote from him and my friend below his.

“There are 28 states that mandate this today in this country. The catholic church is not exempt in any of those states from providing affiliates birth control through insurance. The precedent was set in place long before the Obama plan. This isn’t a recent issue.”

I then asked him this:

“So…the Catholic Church is mandated by the government to cover contraception for its employees in 28 other states…and they do? Is that what you’re saying?
There are state contraceptive mandates:

catholicreview.org/article/work/law-secular-/state-contraceptive-mandates-widespread-but-not-as-broad-as-hhs-plan

USSCB says:
The federal mandate is much stricter than existing state mandates. HHS chose the narrowest state-level religious exemption as the model for its own. That exemption was drafted by the ACLU and exists in only 3 states (New York,California,Oregon). Even without a religious exemption, religious employers can already avoid the contraceptive mandates in 28 statesby self-insuring their prescription drug coverage, dropping that coverage altogether, or opting for regulation under a federal law (ERISA) that pre-empts state law. TheHHS mandate closes off all these avenues of relief.
usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/conscience-protection/index.cfm
Is there precedent for such a broad mandate for contraception and sterilization coverage?
No. Until now, no federal law required private health plans to cover these items. Even state contraceptive mandates (enacted in approximately half the states), with rare exception, do not require sterilization coverage, and do not apply to all health plans. As a general rule, state mandates apply to insured plans that provide prescription drug coverage.
HHS says its language is very similar to religious exemptions in many state contraceptive mandates, but this is incorrect. Most states with an exemption from such a mandate provide broader conscience protection than HHS has authorized in its final interim rule. In addition, HHS’s reliance on state law ignores several things: (1) as noted above, the state laws themselves are not as sweeping as HHS’s mandate; (2) almost half the states impose no contraceptive mandate at all, so they “exempt” everyone; (3) some states which do have a mandate exclude some drugs like “emergency” contraception. Thus even in the states, the scope of this mandate is largely unprecedented.

Regarding those 28 states with mandates, and nobody raising a fuss, that’s not totally true.

I’m from Wisconsin. I can’t speak for the rest of the states, of course, but here the Bishops did raise a fuss. They are, in fact, still lobbying. But there was nothing in the media about it; I found out through what the Bishops were saying. So the general public didn’t react. I would guess that this is true in most states.

In Wisconsin, there are exemptions. One of those is for those who are self-insured, which includes the Diocese I am in.

I also have word that the Bishops are still trying to get this overturned in Wisconsin. I also know the governor, who the people of Wisconsin are trying to have recalled, is also trying to overturn it.

What we really need is a federal law that supersedes all of the state laws on this, one that gets rid of the requirement altogether.

Yes, there are exemptions in those 28 states. There are ways to avoid the state mandates. But there is NO way to avoid the HHS mandate. And the HHS mandate is a federal law–a federal law which requires Catholic institutions and employers to forego their religion.

I know. I should have been more clear. What I am talking about is to not simply overturn the HHS mandate, but enact a Federal law that supersedes any state mandate.

My other point was that the media would have you believe that Bishops just shrugged off the threat in the states. The Bishops in Wisconsin did not.

I don’t know that the Bishops shrugged it off but the media basically ignores them unless they are saying something that agrees with the liberal agenda. Think about the recent March for Life, hundreds of thousands came out in horrible rainy weather and barely got a mention. In our own state our Archbishop had a square full of supporters and it was a non-event for our local media. OTOH a handful of smelly, screaming “Occupy” protesters were front page news for weeks.

I do remember when our state started mandating birth control pills etc to be included in medical plans. Prior to that they were treated as a personal choice as are other non essential pharmaceuticals. No one thought anything about having to buy their own birth control But once it becomes an expected benny it’s much harder to remove. That’s why it’s essential we win this battle now or we will be fighting abortion coverage and euthanasia next.

Don’t you love it? Peaceful demonstrations are met with police and jail. Violent, destructive, filthy “Occupiers” are given food, bathhrooms, free space, medical treatment and plenty of positive press.

Me thinks there is a double standard…

Yes, but my point was that I don’t trust the Federal government to get this right. It overreached on the mandate. I would like the federal government to get out of mandating such things entirely. The entire health care law gives too much power to the central government.
