You are right and I have to go to Reconciliation to help me with my absolute fury and disgust with this man. I will have to ask my Priest how to handle it and to help me have the strength to pray for something besides his defeat in November
Lisa
Pray for his defeat and CONVERSION of his heart.

Yes, it would be the best thing that could ever happen to him. He needs prayers for conversion.

But we also need to work on getting this mandate rescinded, get people to understand that this is a civil rights issue of freedom of religion, and get someone else elected in the fall.

There’s nothing wrong with praying for a better future for the country than the one we’d have with Obama, Lisa. Justifiable anger is fine as long as you use it to do good. Christ himself chastised the money-sellers and the old woman in scripture pestered the judge out of need (and because she was perturbed) until he relented.

There are a lot of people who need to be informed of how serious this is. There are clinics to be protested, and candidates to replace Obama to be supported, and so many prayers to be said.

Take heart. Turn your anger into determination. We’ll get through this okay one way or another.
Yes thank you! Appreciate yours and Incomplete’s comments. I try to do positive things and also to diplomatically tell people about Obama’s philosophy toward the unborn. I remember telling Catholics that he voted to let abortion survivors die and they were shocked…they had no idea.

I think the media has been complicit in not informing the public about some of these more radical positions. I hope this time people will know what they are voting for…or against.

I agree.

Would it be appropriate to start a thread under the prayer request section for the conversion of Obama, Sibelious, and Pelosi?

Did you vote for him for his first term…?

I’m just beating the drum for Catholic voters who helped elect him in the first term to to reverse their vote this time.

Oh my goodness no! I told people that much as I was lukewarm about McCain, there was simply no choice. I knew of his militant pro abortion position early on and for me there was not the slightest consideration I would vote for him. I would have simply not voted had there not been a pro life candidate in opposition.

That being said, I’d go to Mass and see all the Obama stickers on cars. Usually sweet females, many school teachers and others who tend to vote Democrat. They seem to think that something trumps abortion. Too bad the Bishops weren’t as strong when he was running in 2008! They were obviously fooled by his happy talk…

I wonder what percentage of them are giddy about their guy coming after the Church. They may think that it would be good for the Government to have the Church change its teachings regarding holy orders for Women, BC and same sex union stances. I think we have a lot of turncoats in the Church. This could be an issu which brings about much schism in the American Church.

God Bless,

Ummm…

Maybe they just didn’t bother to think their voting positions through enough to realize the things that they are realizing now.

I knew all the time that Obama’s true position is antagonistic to your church. Consider the desecration of the sacrament of marrige through what that they’re trying to call “Same sex marriage”.

I heard last night on Fox News if Notre Dame does go along with the mandate, they will be fined $10 million dollars, if Catholic Charities which employs 70000 people they will be charged $170 million dollars.

By the way, Look at the Pew data, in 2008 Catholics were 49-41% Democrat, in December 2011 Catholics were 49-42% Republican and that was before this HHS decision was made. 15 point net swing.

House GOP Vows to Block Revised Birth Control Rule
House Republicans today rejected President Barack Obama’s compromise contraception rule and vowed to move forward with legislation aimed at blocking it.
Arguing that Obama should meet with U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to resolve the dispute, Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman Michael Steel said House Republicans would not drop their legislative efforts.
“The House of Representatives, led by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, will continue to work toward a legislative solution that achieves” protections for religious institutions adequate enough for Republicans, Steel said.
But those changes have not mollified Republicans.
House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) in a statement said the compromise “simply pretends to shift costs away from religious employers, but it doesn’t fix the problem and is another call for individuals and institutions to compromise on principle.
“The Constitution does not compromise; those rights are inalienable and cannot be bartered away for political expediency and convenience. The administration has simply reaffirmed that Congressional action to permanently reverse this mandate is necessary,” Upton added.

I understand that are staunch in their party affiliation; I chastise them for never trying to bring their party on the Churchs side of the life issue. Obama, is pretty straight forward in his extreme views and not too merciful on his foes. This could be very troublesome.

God Bless

Loved the latest revised letter from the USCCB. Too much to ask for, but the only thing that I would’ve loved to also see is a bolded and capitalized rebuke of Sister Keehan’s public approval of the compromise. It seems an opportune time to call her out and let it be known that she in no way speaks for the Church.

Anyone know if a bishop somewhere has publicly done this?

That is good to know. It appears to me the President thinks we have no choice but conform to whatever he demands. He certainly knows how to talk the talk, make it sounds good. The problem is not about contraception, it is about government’s intrusion into religion and everything else.

He first wants to force religious groups swallow his mandate, then after the outrageous objections, he orders the insurance company to swallow his mandate. Either way,
it is the government imposes upon people. Plus, just because the Catholic Church does not have to pay the contraception premium, it is still trashing the freedom of religion. It is telling Catholic organizations to self cheat themselves, putting a blind fold and pretend the evil is not there. He uses this “accommodation” to coat a layer of disguise on the ruin of Constitution.

Pray for Bishops to stand fast.

I think the big problem here was the bishops silence when Roe Vs Wade was decided, when the healthcare law was being debated, the silence on contraception, the silence on gay “marriage”, the silence on “Catholic” politicians who violate Catholic teachings etc…,ect… Where were the Bishops then? Even if this mandate gets stricken from the law, the heathcare law is STILL IMMORAL. We need Bishops like Francis de Sales who aren’t afraid to speak the truth of Christ.
Just sayin!

Attention all Catholic voters…

Please vote right this time… the whole civilized world needs you now more than you know. Barack Obama had you fooled. He is beholding to his god and that’s called world socialism. Please vote smarter in this upcoming election. We need you. We depend on you more and more this time. If you let us down, we could easily end up with a very subversive supreme court and that will be a disasterous consequence for civilization itself. Do you want to live with that…?

Think about it…

🤷

“Socialism”… sounds good on the surface, but it really means beurocratic control of reasources through labor unions controlled by government and that means both material reasources and (get this…) Human reasources.… that explains their obsession with abortion, birth control, marraige, etc. all through scientific and not Godly means… It’s called “Social Engineering” and it’s for real. It goes on in our schools, in our militery and they want that in our and your churches too…

I don’t recall the Bishops being silent when Roe V Wade was decided, I recall their outrage and their immediately going to work to try and over turn the rulling through congress.

The problem Obama has right now is that he betrayed the trust of Archbishop Dolan, in promissing him that he would allow religious institutions like the Catholic Church to have an exemption on the moral issue of contraceptives and such, but went ahead and back stabbed him by allowing HHS to put the mandate in place.

Even though Obama made a compromise in the mandate yesterday, it’s too late. He can’t be trusted in what he’ll do if he wins re-election and has nothing to lose afterwards.

AMEN! As a convert, I came from the dark side (‘choice’ feminism, secularism) and honestly do not recall the Bishops speaking out in the past. I also think sadly the abuse scandal had many priests afraid to speak out as they knew “he without sin cast the first stone.” The Church had much to atone for and I think it was difficult to be a target.

I am particularly saddened that “Catholic” politicians like Pelosi and Sebelius can OPENLY hold positions contrary to the faith and not hear a peep from their own Bishops who should take a stand. If someone is this public, this incorrect on the Church’s teachings (remember Pelosi saying that life issues were still subject to interpretation?) they need to be called out to either publically disavow their anti-church speech or be held out as examples of CINOs.

Obama seems to take it for granted that we are all gullible and easy to appease. He seems to think he can play magic, just say “bippity boppity boo” and we are all well with his plan.
Is he joking? Does he think we are all idiots? Please, no compromise, no give in, make no mistake!! If we are so easy to take care of, what will he do next? Especially, if (God forbid) he is re-elected, what wouldn’t he do to destroy the Constitution?
