I suppose it’s off-topic, but having seen the news about personnel changes in the NFL, I wondered if under the HHS mandate the NFL would have to provide free contraception coverage to all the players.

It would make as much sense as mandate free contraception coverage for an order of monastic nuns, but one size fits all for the HHS, it seems.

Catholics and Voting Pro-Life: Social Justice Begins in the Womb
Catholics make up about one quarter of the American electorate, and the majority of the Catholic vote has gone to the winner in every presidential election since 1972. With that said, conservatives — whether they like it or not — will have to engage the concept of “social justice” if they wish to earn the sizable Catholic vote in November 2012.

OBAMA’S CATHOLIC PROBLEM
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the findings of a new survey published by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life:
Only 35 percent of the American people think the Democratic Party is “friendly to religion,” while 54 percent say the Republicans are. When asked specifically about the Obama administration, 39 percent see it as “friendly,” and 23 percent see it as “unfriendly.” But in 2009, only 17 percent said the administration was “unfriendly to religion.”
The big problem for Obama is with Catholics, especially white Catholics. The percent of Catholics who say the administration is “unfriendly to religion” has jumped in the past three years from 15 percent to 25 percent. Among white Catholics, the percent who say the administration is “unfriendly” has gone from 17 percent to 31 percent.
It is not hard to fathom why the Obama administration is having a hard time with Catholics. After all, it is trying to force its secular agenda down their throat by making those who work in Catholic non-profit groups pay for abortion-inducing drugs in their insurance premiums.
Moreover, the administration recently denied funding to a Catholic social service agency that helps women and children merely because it is pro-life. Obama has appointed people such as Kathleen Sebelius to his cabinet, even though she has been at war with the Catholic Church for decades. He tried to get a big post for a woman who once worked on an ACLU lawsuit trying to strip the Catholic Church of its tax-exempt status. He hosted a forum for some of the biggest Catholic bashers in the nation when he welcomed the Secular Coalition for America in 2010. He has opposed school choice—vouchers for indigent parents to send their children to a parochial school—while funding the “choice” of aborting their babies. The list is endless.
Everyone knows that Protestants vote Republican and Jews vote Democrat. It’s Catholics who are up for grabs.

Obamacare Forces Woman to Sacrifice Her Health
Stacy Molai is no stranger to suffering. She has suffered more than half of her life from Crohn’s disease—she was diagnosed at 13 and is now 31. She’s already had four surgeries and takes countless medications each month.
Now, she faces additional suffering, which she feels, is at the hands of the U.S. Government.
Molai, a registered nurse, now serving as a Catholic missionary, is vowing to risk her health—and quite possibly her life—if the HHS mandate is not overturned by the Supreme Court. That mandate requires all insurance companies to cover abortions, the morning-after pill and contraceptives.

The thing that frightens our opponents most’ is ‘an evangelical-Catholic alliance’
Politicians usually calculate every action to maximize their popularity among future voters, especially during an election year. But a prominent leader of the nation’s second largest denomination says President Barack Obama’s HHS mandate has the potential to unite Catholics and Protestants into a coalition that will turn him out of office in November.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This one’s a scream:
But I won’t have to be there to know how it’ll go down.
There will be a huge crowd of attractive young women, dressed stylishly, with beaming, joyful faces, and holding signs with clever and incisive slogans showing that they don’t consider fertility to be a disease, that they are pro-choice when it comes to choosing whether to fund abortion, and that they have read the Bill of Rights recently.
There will also be one fat guy with greasy, grey hair and a scaly neck and his shirt buttoned wrong, kneeling on the sidewalk and wearing a sign that says “PRASERVE THE PATRIARCKY” on one side and “COMMUNION ON THE TONGUE” on the other side. The Huffington Post will take so many pictures of him, their camera batteries will fall out.
At some point, a fourteen-year-old girl will trip over her shoelaces, causing two of her friends to stumble slightly and giggle a little bit. This incident will occur within 1,000 feet of a Planned Parenthood facility. All three girls and their parents will be arrested and detained overnight for criminal threatening. Joy Behar will become hysterical on live TV will report that an anti-choice terrorist organization was discovered, and will use the girls’ mug shots as evidence that homeschooling should be illegal.
I do believe she’s right…after all, our pro-life group in front of PP is joined every Saturday by the OWS protestors and dubious others promoting the legalization of pot. (We hope the obvious signs of our rosaries tell passers-by just who’s who, but you just can never tell!!)

I attended the rally in Fort Wayne, and this picture is definitely not the Fort Wayne Rally. You might find a local editorial interesting and it has some actual pictures:

fortwayne.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120323/NEWS/320122480/1024/EDITORIAL

We had about 350 people in a light rain that turned heavy shortly after the rally ended. I have some random personal observations:
  1. You meet some really nice people at pro-life rallies. I brought some extra umbrellas with me and gave them to two little old ladies at the rally. They thanked me and used them to keep their grandchildren dry, while they still got wet. I am not sure that would happen at a pro-choice rally.
  2. Our rally was sponsored by Allen County Right to Life and our local Catholic Radio Station, Redeemer Radio, 1450 AM. They did a really good job of finding a diverse collections of speakers with many different reasons and styles to denounce the HHS mandate. Some of the more memorable moments included:
An elderly African-American retired Marine had an obvious pain in his voice when he explained that when he took the oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” he never dreamed he would be talking about the second part in his lifetime, or that one of the enemies of the Constitution would be the Commander-in-Chief.

The most memorable sound bite came from a female attorney channelling Ronald Reagan. After explaining the many ways that the mandate could be found unconstitutional, she forcefully proclaimed, “Mister Obama, tear up this mandate.”

The rally was not all Catholics. We had a lot of Lutheran participants, too. One speaker was a former social worker who quit a state job because she realized she could not give poor people what they really needed as a state employee. She enrolled at the local Lutheran seminary in their deaconess program and now is incensed that the President is telling her she can only minister to Lutherans or lose an exemption to the mandate. Just like her Catholic friends she finds her religion and the works of mercy to be inseparable.
