I would just think that you would be more concerned with receiving the body & blood, not whom you receive it from. Do you think that the consecration of the Host and the transubstatiation are so “weak” or so “fragile” that if touched by a layperson they somehow become “less than” those given by the Priest?The priest and the deacon are the Eucharistic Ministers. Everybody else is referred to as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC).
I used to follow the same practice as bauerice. My reason was that EMHC in my area usually did not know how to properly place the Eucharist on the tongue. Quite often, they stood there like a deer in headlights, not knowing what to do.
However, now I receive on the tongue always. Furthermore, I try to present myself to the priest or deacon and not EMHC, if possible.
If so, wouldn’t then the communion gifts become "un-pure’ as soon as they touch your person?
Big picture, folks-- these little details shouldn’t matter if what you believe is so strong.
