He’s hiding because he is fearful of being the recipient of mob violence.
Why does he believe that mobs are likely to form to do him violence?
No idea. But I doubt he thinks large mobs are going to form to do him harm.

I meant a member of “mob think”… a random one off or small group. Also, in Italy, there are a few bad priests who are in league with the mafia. He might be afraid of them too.

I am going to refrain from putting into words what that sounds like to me. Otherwise it might be taken as a violation of forum rules.

private message me then.

NOTE: I never said whether I agree with him in regards to his reasons for hiding. I was only answering why he feels the need to hide.

Sadly, the more he keeps pumping these controversial causes, the less the credibility for his earlier statements. I had signed a petition supporting the need for a Vatican response based on Mr. McCarrick, and influence he had on Pope Francis. This was based on direct experience, specific knowledge ++Vigano may have had.

Now, after a round of headline seeki g with no known direct knowledge, I wouldn’t sign any petition. This doesn’t mean he was wrong in the first place. It means he has made himself easier to ignore.

That’s just plain silly. I have more chance of being a recipient of mob violence sitting here in my living room than that man does with all the security befitting an Archbishop.

People magazine can also be useful if I want a quick and interesting rumor mill / tea session. But I’m not basing any facts or actual evidence for a discussion on them.

I will say they did break a story on the Archdiocese of Detroit recently, huge news with insider info, three days before the AOD itself announced it in a rosy light.

LifeSite news is as garbage as Church Militant
Do you say the same thing about the “National Catholic Reporter”? If so, great.

If not, then you have a consistency problem.

Yes National Catholic Reporter is garbage. National Catholic Register I find more factual.

I think EWTN as a source is usually pretty good though Raymond Arroyo irks me from time to time

I also enjoy Pints With Aquinas by Matt Fradd if we are calling that news since it’s a podcast haha

He’s a famous catholic speaker on pornography and Thomas Aquinas. His wife Cameron runs a podcast called Among The Lillies

I’ve said this before on here but when it comes to Vigano, I think he’s taken his new fame and ran with it to talk about anything he has an opinion on…

The only thing Archbishop Gregory is guilty of is issuing an ill-conceived statement at the height of his anger. I understand his outrage. The event with the President should have been rescheduled. The Archbishop was upset about the events at St. John’s and what he perceived as an act of violence against a lawful and peaceful assembly in order to use the Bible as a political prop. For the President to then be showered with praise at the Shrine of JPII is at the very least poor timing. Gregory did not communicate this well at all. I hope the next time he issues a statement, he takes a moment to let his anger dissipate a bit.
St John Paul II was known for his support of protesters against an oppressive government. It was pretty insensitive and I can understand the archbishop’s objections.

Besides, many Catholics complain that bishops never promote the faith. Blunt words about such an egregious misrepresentation should be encouraged.
