Hereis the link to the story.
Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has written a letter to President Barack Obama warning him that his administration will “precipitate a national conflict between church and state of enormous proportions” if it does not “end its campaign against DOMA, the institution of marriage it protects, and religious freedom.”
And here is the link to the Archbishop’s letter.
Mr. President, I respectfully urge you to push the reset button on your Administration‟s approach
to DOMA. Our federal government should not be presuming ill intent or moral blindness on the part of
the overwhelming majority of its citizens, millions of whom have gone to the polls to directly support
DOMAs in their states and have thereby endorsed marriage as the union of man and woman. Nor should
a policy disagreement over the meaning of marriage be treated by federal officials as a federal offense—
but this will happen if the Justice Department‟s latest constitutional theory prevails in court. The
Administration‟s failure to change course on this matter will, as the attached analysis indicates, precipitate
a national conflict between Church and State of enormous proportions and to the detriment of both
institutions.
I found this analysis interesting:
Can anyone seriously believe that the same Jesus who preached that man who merely
lusted after a woman had committed adultery in his heart … could condone homosexual
sex as a moral virtue?
Can anyone seriously believe that the same Jesus who preached let the little childen come
unto me would condone slaughtering them in the womb by the millions all over the
world?
Can anyone seriously believe that the same Jesus who preached know the truth and the
truth will set you free could condone forcing people to choose against their truth-filled
consciences?
Here’s the video if you prefer to watch/listen rather than read.

‘Darn Tooting!’ Obama Brags About HHS Reg Catholic Bishops Call Attack on Liberty

The Obamacare’s mandate that all individuals must buy health insurance, the “preventive services” regulation would require all American Catholics to buy health care plans that pay for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortions — all of which violate Catholic moral teaching.
Since about 1/4 of all hospitals are run by Catholic Charities. If the Obama administration try to force them to do abortions or suffer heavy fines, the Church will have to close the hospitals. Who loses then? Do we needs more unemployed people ?

We have another thread on Prisons giving up pork to appease Muslims. However, the Obama administration have no problem DEMANDING that every American Catholic and Christian of good will who believes in the Truth literally put themselves in a position wherein they are in grave sin and are rejecting and betraying Christ, and are thus in danger of eternal damnation, according to the teachings of Christ and His Church. This is a DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT. ObamaCare makes it FUNCTIONALLY IMPOSSIBLE to be a Catholic.

When they advocate violence to member of the Tea Party you said nothing because you were not a member of the Tea Party. When the governor of S.C advocate suspending the elections, you said nothing because you don’t care about democracy. When they come for the Catholic hospitals … You get my meaning. This man needs to be stop in 2011.

I think that the Government should get out of the marriage business and just stick to Civil Unions. I feel we should leave marriage to religious bodies to pronounce.

Here we go again

The repeal of DOMA wouldn’t trample on religious liberties. If you want to get married, you can get married in a Church, but Churches have the right to refuse to marry you

The state technically doesn’t recognize religious marriages

Hi, all,

The Bishops are right.

The Holy Roman Catholic Church is abiding in the truth.

President Barak Hussien Obama II is in error.

American is in dire danger of losing her claim of “…with liberty and justice for all.”

God loves all of you, lurkers, too,
Don

Whatever. I doubt the percentage of Catholics supporting the president in the 2012 elections will drop significantly from the number that supported him in 2008.

Just as long as he doesn’t have dead people, convicted felons, and fictional characters voting for him this time…some of them numerous times in a row…

I agree. Sadly.

Really? So the Catholic entity, such as a University or Hospital, could refuse to recognize the marriages of SS employees for purposes of benefits?

Or would their religious liberties be trampled?

It strikes me that if all Catholics read that letter, they’d have no choice but to vote Obama out of office next fall!

This changes nothing. The Church teaches that we should oppose same-sex, civil unions for the same reasons we oppose same-sex “marriage.”

Archbishop Timothy Dolan is right and I agree with him. Obama needs to stop his attack on the Defense of Marriage Act. He also needs to stop attacking traditional morality in other ways. Ceasing federal funding of Planned Parenthood (or is it Planned Murderhood?) would be a great step in the right direction. Defending the true definition of marriage which is a sacred union between one man and one woman only would be another step in the right direction. And finally, he could also abolish that new law that requires all health insurance policies to cover contraception.

**He could have an ace up his sleeve. Suppose, in order to get votes, he resorts to "offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. "

Nah, not gonna happen. Too many people already know where he is coming from.

It worked for him in 2008. Might work again in 2012, but he’ll have to come up with some new illusory material benefit.

Well, I don’t have a problem with same-sex civil unions. I don’t know that the Church’s opposition to civil unions raises to the level of it’s opposition to same-sex marriage which I agree with.

It does - they are one and the same from a moral standpoint.

I have carefully read the letter and the analysis–wow, that was well stated. Well done. I am sure it will be ignored.
