Are Catholics allowed to refrute Islam?

One, Allah means God in Arabic. Dieu in French. Dio in Italian. Dios in Spanish. Is that also a grave insult?
The Arabic name for “God” is the word “Al-ilah.” It is a generic title for whatever god was considered the highest god. “allah” was being worshipped at the kaa’ba in mecca by Arabs prior to the time of mohammed. It was formerly the name of the chief god among the numerous idols (360) in the kaaba in mecca before mohammed made them into monotheists.

Now if you want to call the Only True God equal to that of baal then its your call. Deo, Dios, Dieu I have no problem, but to call Him a pagan god is blasphemy to me. Might as well call Him zeus but the greeks call Him Theos.
Two, there’s dishonor to women in The Bible,** and ‘rights’ to women came through secularly**. In a Christian marriage… today… do you know why your wife has your last name?
…which was made in line with our Christian heritage and values.

Do you know why we were only allowed to marry one wife? I think the answer is not “because wives are allowed four husbands”.

I think we all do.
We do know clearly that God, is Our Father in Heaven. While in Islam they can’t even accept that. The Jews know it, the Christians know it, but the Muslim can’t fathom it. 😦

Oh I see. Pagan God. Now the Paganism Catholics get accused of on a daily basis is now going to get pushed over to Islam? We ALL are Pagans.

And what do you call divorce and re-marriage?

Based on what you just posted, this is not mohamads uncle Abu Talib, insted it is Waraqa.

Waraqa was one of the sons of Khadija’s uncle.

Khadija was mohamads first wife.

Before islam was established by mohamad, it was Waraqa who became a Christian & it was he to used to write the Gospels in Arabic and it was Waraqa who in later years lost his eyesight. It was not Abu Talib…
Yes, it was Waraqah. I apologize for having the wrong uncle.

Well personally, as a Catholic trying to understand and ‘know’ God seems to be very hard. How could you ‘know’ and ‘understand’ someone who you never met? 😦 🤷

Our Faith assures us that what the Apostles witnessed is true. They died for this as well. So doubt no more.

What did Jesus say to Philip?

I get emotional on these, protestants calling us pagans, muhammedans and the Catholics have the same belief system. We should know better.

Well as I have said it’s your call if you disagree with these historical facts.
And what do you call divorce and re-marriage?
Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart (read stubborn)… Mark 10:2-12.

Of course, the official position then, and still, of the Catholic Church is that marriage is a sacrament that cannot be dissolved, which is refuted by the muhammedans’ marriage laws.

Marriage is a convenant. I don’t think the Muhammedans call it that so there lies the prob. imo.

Christ asks us to preach the truth.

Because Islam is a false religion grounded in false doctrines and dogmas, by preaching the truth, we will essentially be refuting all of the falsehoods that they (Muslims/Moslems/Mohammedans/whatever) have been fed by their false prophet Mohammed.

Now of course, ALL of Islam cannot be refuted because it does contain several truths. For example, they understand that God is one, that there is only one God and no other God should be worshiped other than Him. They believe in a heaven and a hell (although faulty understandings of the 2) and they believe in the truths many of the prophets came to speak. I’m sure there are other things, but those can be left up to others to find.

For those people who have issues with CCC paragraph 841, they need to realize that the Mohammedans DO worship the same God that we do, they just have a faulty, incomplete understanding of who that God is, His nature and what He asks of us to do in our lives. We also need to understand that a follower of Mohammed that leads out their life in the way that Christ would want (in peace, love and unity) can enter heaven due to God’s loving nature. We should not assume that because they follow a false religion that they will not be with us in heaven.
Yes we are to preach the truth. But what about the exmuslims who say that the god of islam is not the same God of the Jews and Christians. Should we count their first hand experience out?

The right words is not Incomplete but Opposite. Yes there are some truth to islam but majority are lies. Lies for the benefit of their false prophet.

I hope you are right on this. I pray that God show goodness and compassion to those who were deceived by this mohammed.

You also get those one night marriage certificates. A religious and legal convenience for an islamic man to hire a prostitute! How can this come out of a religion that believe in the True God?

Do they really get temporary marriage certificates? Just to fool around? Do you have a link?

It’s called “muta” - temporary marriage and generally practiced by the Shia.

Google it to read up on it.

The whole muta marriage thing…I would caution that it is not likely to be taken seriously when brought up by a kafir, because it is something I have heard Sunnis denounce or try to downplay as a heretical “Shia” doctrine or whatever. But then when I asked a Shia they said that most of the things that the Sunnis say are Shia only are either practiced by a minority of Sunnis, or have some analogue in Sunni Islam. I don’t know if this is also one of those things, but it’s something to think about. Not to mention the fact of polygamy across all of Islam which makes a mockery of the Christian ideal of marriage no less than muta marriage does.

Yikes! 😦

So marriage is a contract for Muslims then. 🤷

I am shocked and amazed at the ecumenical, politically correct blindness in many here. It is off-my-heels shattering. I AM the way, the truth and the life. How many times does this have to be said in this “want to respect everybody, don’t offend” world before somebody GETS IT?!? Islam openly DENIES His divinity. My gosh, in the early church, before Islam, you would have been thrown out on your ear for that. I am tired of this politically-correct, marshmallow “Christianity” today. The whole WORLD is afraid to say ANYTHING wrong about Islam. Why can’t we have a spiritual backbone and defend the Honor of Christ? I cannot stand girly-men in today’s “let’s all get along-Kum-Ba-Ya” world. If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything!!

Was this just said???

I think we’re allowed to refute Islam. However, I think it be only wise to do so, if you already do the following:

-dont masturbate (most common mortal sin), look at pornography, etc.
-you’re nice to people
-go to confession often and recieve the sacraments
-treat others with respect
-are charitable

etc. etc. I think we need to worry about our own salvation and loving others and taking care of little babies and our families who need us before we go around hating on those who Jesus already told us like 15 times in scripture would hate us anyway. See what I mean?

But I cannot in good conscience accept what the Catechism says about Islam worshipping the same god as Christians and together with us they adore the one, merciful God…I find that part of the CCC disturbing. Not much has changed for me on that front. 😦
I agree.

refuting Islam and hating muslims is two different things; but the poster who listed all the sins etc has a serious point; you need to be strong in your faith because it will be challenged so you need to be well prepared spiritually and scripturally sites like answering islam and answering christianity are must reads. And yes we need to be trying to save our own souls but forgive me if im wrong but isn’t helping others not part of our salvation too.

but you post did make me smile 👍
