Are Catholics too high and mighty and overly judgemental?

pennys right i didnt ask for opinions i asked for support…my situation is not something im going to discuss anymore as i said earlier, im not getting any help from here…
I.e., code for: “I’m not hearing what I want to hear”. Unfortunately for your expectation, authentic Catholic support is not a venture in helping one to “feel good”, but a venture of truth spoken in love, while validating and accepting one in their struggle to live the truth of their espoused Catholic faith. Anything less is a counterfeit of authentic Catholic “support”. Perhaps this forum is not for you…because seeking support entails an openness to hear the truth of the Catholic faith, and not just personal opinions and/or exchanging emotional warm fuzzies. 😦

TarAshley- I must say, I have been a Catholic my whole life and I’ve never met anyone as sanctimonious, pietistic and pharisaic within the faith as many of the members of this forum. If adherance to the letter of the law is all God requires for entry into heaven, this lot will do just fine! As long as they live as piously as they preach and God’s plan does not involve any sort Christian ethic.

There are also some decent people here though trying their best to follow Jesus. It’s not hard to winnow the chaff.

Love is kindness at times too. we dont always have to be so harsh to each other in the name of “love” what ever that may mean to some people.

fighting the fat: thank you, some people talk as if they have never sinned in their entire lives, forgive me but some people need to stop the sanctimonious ****, and take a good long hard look in the mirror before passing judgement.

fighting the fat! im sorry im just a dumb country girl at times and thought that was a typo but i know ive heard my friend who was raised in England say winnow the chaff what does that mean?:o :blessyou:

whos to say your handle of teachings is the right one, like i said earlier i dont believe anything im just told until i look into and meditate and pray on it, only then do i come to a decision, if you say something i find worth it i would spend some time looking into it, but until you quit trying to father me and lecture me over something i specifically and respectfully asked not to discuss anymore i cant take anything you say for any kind of merit.
Too bad, he’s given you advice that is in line with Catholic doctrine and teaching. I suggest you go to

www.catholic.com

They have a series called pure love as well as other writings that support the Church’s teaching. Do you own a Catechism? That’s an excellent source for authentic Church teaching. Don’t try to do it all at once. Pick a topic you are having difficulty with and **exhaust **all sources. That’s what I’ve done for the last 12 years and you know what? The Church’s postion/teaching makes sense! :bigyikes:

I was so like you when I was 21! How I wish I had someone back then like Barrister who cared enough (and was knowledgeable enough) to give me advice. Still. . . I was only 21 and thought I knew everything so it all may have just fallen on deaf ears. You’re lucky you have the resources avaliable to you now to do the research you need. God Bless you in your studies!

Couldn’t agree more. Since I got here I’ve felt I must be the only person on this board going to confession!

it’s a biblical reference but basically it means sort the good from the bad.

Oh, puleeze. Passing judgment? Who has been passing judgment? Do you have a mirror?

Glad you have PennyPlain and FightingFat to tell you “peace, love, and God loves you” as if that is all our Catholic faith asks of us and which is all you wanted to hear anyway.

The Charity level on this thread has deteriorated to a point which is unacceptable.
