Where Josh, does His Holiness say schism exists. I repeat that unless internal and within now have opposite meanings…Do not also the divisions caused by Protestantism rend the heart of the Church? Maybe what the Pope meant by this was that this matter (on the new Mass and, concerning Levebvre, the validity of the Council) was at the very heart of the Church. In the sentence right after the one you quoted he mentions divisions rending the body of Christ:
“It is a matter of coming to an interior reconciliation in the heart of the Church. Looking back over the past, to the divisions which in the course of the centuries have rent the Body of Christ, one continually has the impression that, at critical moments when divisions were coming about, not enough was done by the Church’s leaders to maintain or regain reconciliation and unity.”
