Are Protestants going to Heaven?

As a disholusioned ROMAN catholic, the lack of charity on this forum stongly suggests to me that protestants will be going into heaven ahead of catholics.

I am yet to meet an arrogant protestant. I am yet to meet one who bullies in order to prosecute bigotry. I think that purgatory fits catholicism as it is only the catholics who have need of it!

I am astonished how many for example think ‘soul’ and ‘spirit’ are homogenous. Not many protestants seem to have a problem with it, why so catholics?

The problem is that catholics are in fact protestants, but they are just too proud to admit it. The true church whose roots go back to the apostles, I have come to realise is the Holy Apostolic Orthodox Catholic Church.

The first protestants were the roman catholics and then the lutherans.

Shame it isn’t also Roman 😃
We say that every Weekly Mass.

Respectfully, I disagree. The Catholic Church did not schism from the Orthodox, it is the other way around. First of all, I have the highest respect for the Orthodox, but I firmly believe in the primacy and the authority of the See of Peter and I believe scripture and history backs that up. Furthermore, as the scripture in my signature indicates, the fish (the nations of believers) are indeed gathered by the Apostles (not all, but some). But it is Peter who turns the fish over to Our Lord at the Lord’s request. Though the net Peter carried was so full, it did not tear. Peter’s net is without tear. Interestingly, according to Stephen Ray, the Greek word used for tear is also the root of the word “schism”. So, Peter’s net (Church) is *without *schism. I respect your right to disagree about my interpretation of this scripture, of course. But I find it extremely interesting… remember most of what John had to say had more than one meaning.

The Orthodox present a compelling argument about who is in schism but I remain unconvinced. Other factors come into play as well, such as a lack of universality of the Orthodox Church (Russian, Greek, etc seems much less universal than Latin (west) and Eastern Catholic)

By the way, your post here is less than charitible toward Catholics. So, I think you are casting a stone when you ought not to be. The fact you think that Purgatory is only needed for Catholics speaks volumes about you “disillusionment”. Purgatory, is to make clean those souls that are less than completely perfect and holy. Can you honestly say that you and all other souls, except Catholics, are perfectly clean?

And when exactly did the Roman Catholic Church lose the Apostolic Succession?

As long as the succession of bishops are in place, I sort of agree that the Roman Catholic, the Orthodox Catholic Church along with maybe even the Oriental Orthodox, Assyrian, Independent Catholic, and possibly even the Anglican Communion [MAY ALL] share the true Church. That is [IF] they have kept the Apostolic Succession in tact.

But as for me, I believe in One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church! I am thrilled to finally be confirmed Roman Catholic, as I knew even from a young child my southern baptist faith was incomplete.

But to say the same for protestants is to be ignorant of, or to ignore history. Protestants are heretics.

You are very fortunate and must not live in the south. This past Ash Wednesday service at our parish, we could barely hear ourselves worship at Mass. The southern baptist church a half block away set up outside their church loud speakers, playing loud music, and shouted at us during the entire service. They did this intentionally to disrupt our Ash Wednesday service.

We could even hear them scream in the loud speakers to pray for those dumb and evil Catholics, the whores of Babylon who will all die and go to hell. We all just laughed at Mass when we heard this, and our priest simply said, “it’s nothing we don’t hear on local radio each and every week.”

I think it did irritate the priest though when they found our tinted glass windows “paint balled” the next morning.

To decide who goes to heaven is not base on the opinions of Catholics. The final judge who is Jesus Christ can determine who goes to heaven.
Yes Jesus is indeed the final judge. One thing that  does bother me is who decides what happens to the millions of people who lived BC , and through no fault of their own never knew Jesus ???!

This is bunk! The level of charity here at CAF is generally far and away higher than most all of the n-C/a-C forums that I have tried to post on. One Baptist forum won’t even allow Catholics to join they are so secure in their beliefs. (Yes, that’s sarcasm dripping there) and two others won’t allow Catholics to post Catholic sources in response to the propaganda the anti-Catholics there propagate, even when it simply contains straight historic facts.

Then you must not get out much at all, because the level of such behavior among n-Cs and a-Cs is (at least) as bad or worse (IMO and experience) om their forums than anything that I have experienced around here or any other of the Catholic forums that I post on. In fact… even Hannity’s religion forum is better than those.

I have yet to ever see anything that I would class as 'bullying" from Catholics and especially not here at CAF, where I believe the moderation is about as even handed and good as it can possibly be.
I am astonished how many for example think ‘soul’ and ‘spirit’ are homogenous. Not many protestants seem to have a problem with it, why so catholics?
Probably because the n-Cs are in error?

Bunkum! I haven’t seen anything anywhere that leads me to believe that to be true…and I have looked diligently.
The first protestants were the roman catholics and then the lutherans.
…and this is based on what? Your personal opinion? The teaching that you received at the hands of an Orthodox pastor whose rhetoric you have chosen not to research from objective, outside sources?
Shame it isn’t also Roman 😃
Shame your propaganda isn’t factually accurate and Biblical.

I wouild go further than that. It is actually very accurately rhetorical to engage debate. In particular awareness reflection and discussion of our relationship with Orthodoxy.

In this respect, I think it has achieved its original objectives.👍

But thanks for your comments:)

You won’t learn this in any organized church of men…

THEY WILL BE SAVED.

There should be two questions. Can Protestants go to heaven? and Are there Protestants in heaven? Just because one dies as a Protestant, it does not mean that one enters heaven as a Protestant.

Believe the Scriptures…

Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind, especially of believers. These things be charging and teaching.(1 Timothy 4:9-11 CLV)

Does this EXCLUDE anyone??? Can anyone tell me who this EXCLUDES?

Are you being serious…??? Here in sunny south africa you may be robbed or even murdered on your way to church…BUT our new constitution guarantees religious freedoms and it would therefore be illegal for anyone whatsoever to even attempt to disrupt a mass/service. Such action would also have made headline news in this country ! Perhaps Americans are used to such happenings…but you have shocked me ! I sometimes wonder if Americans realise just how much the world looks to them for moral guidance…a sort of compass ; and then we here of these things. We must all pray that God leads all folk into a true relationship with him. I would not leave it there…why not write to the baptist minister and ask him to meet with your priest to rectify matters…peace !😉

You’re right, they probably enter as a Christian. 😉

No one will enter heaven except through the Church. A protestant would have to set-aside the beliefs that reject Christ though the Church to enter heaven.

No, that is not correct. Even the Church doesn’t say that. Pls review your catechism. BTW, no Protestant I know rejects Christ.

Agreed!! Christ is the head of the Church.
Protestants claim Christ as their head as well. Now what?

IMO, whoever accepts Christ, be they Protestant or Catholic, has an equal chance at making it to heaven. God alone will make the final call, and neither mikew262, Sean Boyle or anybody else knows what that final call will be.

The Church does not Save anyone. Jesus does.
You just don’t get it. If your not in the lady bride of Christ, you don’t get in.
The scriptues are not all just straight forward. This enters the realm of sola scriptura once again.
There is a plentitude of writings from the church fathers that discusses this in detail.

No Church=no bride=no Christ

If they don’t persevere to the end, they won’t gain heaven; that includes not just Protestants but Catholics as well.
