Are Protestants going to Heaven?

You just don’t get it. If your not in the lady bride of Christ, you don’t get in.
The scriptues are not all just straight forward. This enters the realm of sola scriptura once again.
There is a plentitude of writings from the church fathers that discusses this in detail.

No Church=no bride=no Christ
I guess you dont believe Vatican II and all that seperated brethren stuff.

I do, I leave God to judge who goes to heaven, even the Catholic Church acknowledges that there is hope with our Protestants brothers and sisters.

Vat II is a creature all unto itself, but that’s not what I wish to discuss.

As far as I’m concerned, the church ( Orthodox, and Catholic when it as Orthodox ) has always taught that none will judge other than God.

However why would you give people the false sense of hope knowing that they must be in the Church for salvation, even when they’re out? Can they technically be out of the visible church, and still be in it invisibly… maybe, but why lead people astray on purpose. They have no spiritual food and medication to help them along the journey if they’re out of the church. Why would we flippently and knowingly deprive them of such just to be ecumenical, and possibly lead them horribly adrift.

The main reason people say and do these things is because they are unknowingly creating a God unto themsleves.

They wish to beleive that … God wouldn’t possibly condemn that poor protestant because he’s so faithful… They say these things to make themselves feel better, and they create an aura
of Holier than thou. “I won’t condemn that protestant, my church won’t condemn them, that’s for God to judge… therefore you who condemns them are a small minded biggot.”

IMO this is the most arrogant attitude a person can have.

If the church didn’t care about preserving the TRUE church, than it would nothave given a darn about the heresies in the early church, the misunderstanding of theology, and the severing of the Orthodox and Catholic ties.

All these matters were a very big deal. It was a big deal because it had everything to do with people’s salvation.

Now 2000 years later, we have PC christians( tens of thousands of sects ) that just wish to believe that all is good as long as we all believe in Christ.

Well, you can go ahead and create Christ in whatever image you wish to… but that will get plenty of people no where, and at worse somewhere very bad.

God help and save us all.

Now that’s a little simplistic. If that is all that protestant churches preached, I think our sermons would be a little shorter.

Preacher: Does everyone believe in Christ?
Congregation: Yes
Preacher: OK… see you all next week!

😉

If your preachers didn’t preach, you wouldn’t have anything to do at your “so-called” worship services.

You don’t have the Eucharist, any of the seven sacraments or the four marks of the Church, so you have to do something to pass the time. 🤷

A key issue here is the fact that not everyone who goes to Heaven will be Catholic, but everyone in Heaven will be Catholic.

That is; by the time people leave Purgatory, their objections to the Catholic faith will have been removed. They will accept all the teachings unreservedly.

As to the issue “Do Protestants go to Heaven?” - I would suggest that the thing breaks down like this;

Some people have nothing but positive things in their belief set that make them to to Heaven - these people are orthodox Catholics

Some people have things in their belief set which do not make them go to Heaven, but some which make them go there - these people are cafeteria Catholics and non-Catholics

Some people have nothing but things which will keep them out of Heaven - these people are non-Christians

Can we say for certain that any of these groups is definitely going to Heaven or Hell? No - all three have a hope of salvation. However, the hope for the first is greater than the second is greater than the third.

Amen 👍

…& to my Protestant brothers and sisters, when you get there, pray for this unworthy servant of the Lord who will no doubt still be some way off… 😊

  1. It is not true that non-Christians have nothing but things which will keep them out of heaven. First of all, they have a God and Heavenly Father who created them (to be with Him forever, I might add - else why would He create them?) and loves them and His graces that He can give them to lead good lives, like a conscience, for example. And while it is true that they do not (explicitly, anyway - He’s still there don’t you know!) have the Son who is the only way to the Father, most moral teachings of most religions are good and very similar to Christian moral teachings. This comes from God’s implanting His law in our hearts.
  2. I think by “hope” you mean “chances,” and this seems presumptious to me, and there seems to be a tremendous amount of presumption going on on this post. In fact, the first group has a great hope, most non-Catholics think they have an infallible hope, which is not true hope but presumption of God’s mercy, and many of those in the last group have no hope at all, for they don’t believe in heaven. I for one would not say that any one person’s “chances” are better than another, because only God knows mens’ hearts and will be the judge of them. Of course, when an individual comes to believe in Christ, His “chances,” if you will, will indeed increase, but then, “to whom much is given, much is expected.” Why all this talk of who will be saved and who won’t be saved? And why have I read through these 10 pages of posts? What a waste of time…
We really only have one soul to save, and that is our own, because it is the only one we are responsible for. All we can do is to help others out. And this we must do.

“But YOU, follow me.”
