Are there any Catholic theologions that fully understand the last book of the bible ?

This falls firmly into the realm of libel. I did not say that. Never said it, never will.

I’m not entirely sure I’m following. I noted what some people think. Whether or not it means anything doesn;t change the translation.

OK, now I’m really lost. I think I’m going to leave it be before I end up being quoted as the guy who said Popes were Satan’s Tools.
 
No body said you did,all history is not true history.

I support walt here. there is something to be said about the 6=man, God is Three Persons in One Nature, hence three sixes in one number = man making himself god. Yes, that hearkens back to the serpent in Genesis, which treats not only of the Fall, but of the effects of the Fall that are wrought through every sin. The questions and lies of the devil are metaphorical and most definitely recalled in the associated statements in Rev. 13 about the beast:

Gen 3: “You will surely not die!” Translation: You can violate God’s order (i.e., sin) and get away with it (both spiritually and temporally).
Gen 3: “Your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.” Translation: You can find perfect fulfillment in the created goods alone, without God. You can build a utopia apart from God’s Order or help. Also, you will find that you are the arbiters of truth, not God.

Rev. 13: “Who is like the beast and who can wage war with it?” Translation: We can violate God’s Order (i.e., sin), and avoid any spiritual or temporal consequences. Also, we can build a prosperous, peaceful, ultimately satisfying reality purely materialistically, apart from God’s Revelation or Truth.

Rev. 13: the mark of the beast in forehead or hand: Translation: Just as the Seal of God in the forehead (i.e., the mind, which contemplates truth) of the 144,000 speaks of those who recognize that God, in and through the Church, is the ultimate source of truth, so those with mark of beast in the forehead say that truth is ultimately determined by man alone, independent of a Revealing God. Similarly, the mark of beast in the hand symbolizes those who, by the “works of their hands” do the will of the devil, not God, and who believe that they can build their own fulfillment and prosperity solely materialistically.

hence, the beast is far more than just Nero. It represents, collectively, all sin, both of indivuals and of societies.

Considering the number seven to be perfect, Three sevens would be a defining Quality of God= The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Defining the holy trinity, which to my knolegde is not something shared by the earlyier or morden judaists and muslims.

666= The, beast, the image of the beast, The false profit.

The beast (in my opinion) is the complete opposite of God, the system, the goverment, a King, or somthing to that affect.

The image of the beast, is the image that people worship= they are, domination, opression, slavery, vanity, sin, adultry, money, and things to that affect.

The false prophet= is the one that preaches the “image” and is not nesserally of a religious origon. Rather, he is the promoter of anthing that spits in the face of the Christian disipline, while keeping a customised and false countifit law to keep the system of the beast in order. The false profit is circuler.

This is what i think, though i might have a log in my eyes, so forgive me if im mistaken.

Hi Walt…can you expand your thoughts giving the reference in Revelations. I have Father Michael’s book here on my computer desk…but I do find your thinking hard to follow and apologize. But if you can expand your thinking and connect it to passages in Revs. with details, perhaps I can follow you.🙂
